HELMET! My friend was knocked down in a bike marathon, skidded headfirst into a granite curb and spent a week in the hospital. We became two of the first helmet owners after that.

We are being extremly cautious with speed while filming. I hope your friend is okay and equally cautious of his speed in the future. However, I have been looking for some cool new helmets.

@@mindseyedesign Thanks, but he recovered decades ago. It wasn't his speed, the idiot behind him knocked him down. Only Bell made the newfangled bike helmets. All white and fit for old fossils. And I still wear it. Not fancy, but Bell made the finest military, motorbike, and other helmets in the world. My only concern about speed is when some politician pandering for votes put a 10mph bike lane next to a 50mph traffic lane. And then they wonder why cyclists get run down.

From my perspective, I think the maximum tire width of my bicycle should be set to 2.15, so that I can take public transportation to go further. That's what I have always done, but the tire width 3 can't do this. It's a pity.

Was such a low speed I believe the bike will not be a big seller. You noticed the guy on the bike his legs are so cramped he forgot to just a seat and doesn't have a helmet

He had no issues with anything. We were riding very slow far away from traffic only using the bike long enough to film. I understand there is no helmet law in Las Vegas, so at no point was anything done wrong. Thanks for the pretentious petty remarks and all... I assure you no one was even close to an injury or leg cramping at any point.

There is zero chance of getting 70 miles using PAS. We got 36 on PAS 1 on flat ground on a 60*f day. Realize though, 36 miles on a bike is a LOT of miles at once. Love ebikes!!!

We rode this bike 17 miles and mostly fully electric mode. The battery is at 3/4 power remaining. I'll keep you guys posted.
@Todd66
@Todd66 2 жыл бұрын
@@mindseyedesign 36 miles did not kill the battery on our bike, but it put it below 20%. Below 30 % you start noticing loss of power, by the time you are below 20% there is hardly anything left of the power. I personally would consider a battery at 20% to be “empty” and ready for a recharge. In order to get 70 miles out of a 17ah battery, you need conditions to be perfect…wind at your back the entire time, flat or downhill grade, very light weight riders and the temp needs to be in mid 60’s to low 70’s and the road needs to be butter smooth. I have a 21ah battery and a mid drive with a 10spd and I would be amazed if I could get 70 miles on PAS 1, pedaling my butt off the whole time . My bike is carbon fiber and all high end components so it’s a bit lighter weight than the one in the video. Battery meters or Displays that show percentages are rarely spot on. Also you will notice the power drops in non linear arch. Lower you get, the more juice it takes to maintain speed, especially when you go “fully electric” as in high PAS modes or throttle only. I have been on many forums and belong to several ebike groups and I’ve noticed that a lot of people talk about their bikes not getting the range that the manufacturer claims. There are so many variables when it comes to ebike range, that making high range statements is kind of misleading. A 240 lb rider is not going to get the same range as a 120 lb rider. Someone who lives in a area with lots of hills will not get maximum range. Same thing with a windy location. There are other considerations too, like tire pressure, surface conditions, ambient temperature. My fiancé’s bike is identical to the bike in the video, she weighs 120 lb and her bike is VERY well maintained and I can tell you that there is zero chance her bike could go 70 miles and mostly fully electric. On mostly electric, I would be amazed if her bike would go 25 miles before the battery was down to 20% on mostly electric. In my opinion, if a ebike can get in the 40 mile range without loosing too much power and you only have 1 battery on the bike, you are doing really really good. 40 miles is a huge amount of miles on a bicycle.

Having been a road bike enthusiast, I know that proper seat height is critical for maximum power transmission & to reduce wear & tear on the knees, so I cringe when I see eBikers riding with the seat set too low (bottomed out).
@Todd66
@Todd66 2 жыл бұрын
You have to realize that on a ebike, you do not have to put the same kind of stresses on your body. I ride a ebike daily and having the seat all the way down is nice at times. I have a dropper post, so I am able to move my seat at will. The moment I get serious about pedaling, I put my seat at the proper height. Most people that ride ebikes, do not care how efficient their pedaling is just due to the Pedal Assist.
@jamessparenberg389
@jamessparenberg389 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah. One would think his chin would hurt from his knees slamming into it all the time. Even as an ebike, the stress on the knees with improper seat height will kill them
@Todd66
@Todd66 2 жыл бұрын
@@jamessparenberg389 have you rode a hub drive ebike? You really are not putting much stress on your knees unless you are on a dead battery or have the motor turned off. I have 3 ebikes and not one of them will tear up your knees from sitting too low unless you disengage the motor and do it regularly and pedal hard. With cadence sensors, you do not have to push hard, just go through the motions and the motor will engage. With hub motors, it does not matter what gear you are in, the motor pulls the same. Only people that have not spent time on a ebike think poor seating will destroy your knees. Simply not true.

Three of us were testing the bike and it felt comfortable enough none of us were too concerned with the seat height. I see your point though and will keep that in mind more in the future. Thanks

@@Todd66 I'm hearing yah mate, the thing that I don't get is that with the seat set properly, riders can get some mid-level intensity physical exercise, extend their ride times, & save their knees whenever they choose. Sitting higher gives better visibility & allows the rider to be seen easier. A major plus is that it's easier & quicker to slightly raise your butt from the seat if you're approaching a bump. Aerodynamics don't take a hit 'cos you can lay low in an aero position to save on battery use.

This is insane, but it was confirmed in our experiments. When there is no wind, riders weighing less than 75kg can ride up to 125 miles at an even speed on smooth ground or asphalt under PAS 1.
