This is a great video! I really appreciate the Ecobee technology and for those who truly want the ability to fine tune your comfort level and HVAC system's performance, this has to be the best thermostat on the market. I installed my Smart Thermostat last August. Prior I've been a Nest thermostat owner since Nest first came on the market. The Ecobee is everything the Nest isn't and as a person who provided Nest support in the Google Community, I can't speak of all the times I've told Nest owners, "I'm sorry but your Nest can't do or give you what you are looking for. My advice is to consider getting an EcoBee". I've continued my learning process with my Ecobee over the past months and have been experimenting with or trying out the different features available with my Smart Thermostat. My latest evolution will be soon be removing the manual humistat on my Aprilaire Humidifier, allowing the Ecobee to take over humidity control of my home.

I've been very happy with my Ecobee until I had to leave my house and set up a vacation. I had my son who has been using his own Ecobee for years set up the first vacation for me. It lasted less than a week and then I set up 4 more vacations that each last for less than a week. I've called Ecobee Customer Service numerous times and never found anyone with real knowledge of Ecobee!

Thank you for your video. Can you make a video on settings for a ventilator system like an HRV? I have heard from others that there are limited settings for HRV in Ecobee.

Can i use ecobee with a zone control motorized damper.?
@JacksonSystems4 жыл бұрын
Hi Curtis, you can use the Ecobee with zone control although some zone control systems may not be compatible. Usually, any zone control system that takes a standard thermostat will be fine.
@benl51824 жыл бұрын
The Thermostat says it can control up to 32 zones. But i am having a hard time finding anything on how to wire multiple zone with the one thermostat. I am installing 3 zones on my system using a ZoneFirst Controller. Can you point me in the right direction for wiring it properly?
@JacksonSystems4 жыл бұрын
I believe you are talking about the sensors. The Ecobee can handle up to 32 sensors, not zones. If you are doing zoning most likely you will need one Ecobee per zone with up to 32 sensors per Ecobee.

This is a great video. I have narrowed the smart thermostat down to this product, the ecobee5. I looked at the carrier edge thermostat that is installed right now and it has 4-wires....i guess i will need to run a blue wire from the HVAC unit to the present location for the C-wire. I hope this will not be a headache for me because i really like your product.
@spencerdunwoody55084 жыл бұрын
Hopefully you haven’t replaced your thermostat or ran a new wire yet. Sometimes there is an extra wire behind the wall that you have to pull out and just hook it up in the furnace, or there is an adapter you can use
@Johan_Pentrose4 жыл бұрын
@@spencerdunwoody5508 its been a disaster almost. The hvac company says we need a thermostat that will handle a 2-cycle cool and a 3-cycle heat. We have a heat pump, gas furnace and humidifier. Carrier 58cts . Ecobee says they can not determine what unit we have and a re less than confident despite the weeks upon weeks of back and forth....Carrier was no help. I ran new 18-8 stat wire. Luckily the work i did is behind the refrigerator. Still not really any closer to an i stall or whether ecobee 5 is the unit for our home.

Wrong, Bison Breath. I'll admit a friendly price of say $59 would be good. (And I see some Chinese no names drifting around this price.) But I've owned my Ecobee for 5 years. It offers a simple convenience a $35 one doesn't: turning on or off from the phone. My wife and I have an AC unit on the back patio. It's noisy. Sometimes when we sit to eat dinner, we turn it off. Why? It's like 7 feet from us. Boom, done. Sometimes on a hot night we realize we could cool the upstairs a little more. Boom, done. Before Covid we'd sometimes be out and about and realize we wanted to turn the AC on... either for our cats... or us. Or the heat. I unfortunately paid over $200 clams for this unit in 2015. That, then, was a good price compared to Nest. And it was such new tech. But if it was $35 dollars with the option of a $25 a year phone app access -- I'd have paid for that access. 5 x $25 is $125. If it lasts 5 more years it pays for itself that way alone. We've also saved some energy cost money. The unit claims it will pay for itself with a big toothy grin -- but not so much. You can set an analog thermostat low just like you can set this thing low to save money. No genius there. The SAVINGS is in being able to leave during a hot day and just turn it on here and there. Instead of on and off all day. Remotely. Or sometimes you leave the house with it on by accident and realize you could turn it off. In both ways this thing has already paid for itself.
