Dealers dont seem to get them around me........guess the sticker is way to high still. OK , keep them videos coming.

47,000 km now and working fine mileage still fantastic how much more are they ? I spend 350$ a week on fuel and if it was gas powered I would be paying 30% more with the best gas hemi ( new one ) or eco boost compared to a old ram it wold cost me well over double to fuel
@allincamo10 жыл бұрын
I'm told 50,000 for one. YIKES>! all due to the MPG savings. They get ya coming and going.

MotorWeek tested the Ram 1500 with both a EcoDiesel and the gas V-6. In their testing the EcoDiesel achieved an average mpg of 27.5 whereas the gas achieved 23.4. The initial cost of ownership and diesel fuel prices quickly negate a 4 mpg difference. Today, in my region of the USA, regular gas costs $1.90/gallon and diesel costs $3.09/gallon. That means if the gas version gets an observed 23.4 mpg, the EcoDiesel would have to exceed an average 38 mpg to realize a fuel cost savings for the owner!!! Not to mention all the reliability issues associated with a modern diesel due to emissions equipment. Then add in the $4,000.00 premium MSRP over the gas model and there is absolutely no way the EcoDiesel makes any sense.
@lharb70410 жыл бұрын
I see a lot of people who compare the gas and the diesel and make the completely valid point that the diesel is not really THAT much more economical than the gas when the cost premium is figured in. Maybe the diesel is a LITTLE more economical if you keep it for the long term. But I think people that focus on the economics of the equation are missing the point that those of us who buy diesels are into it for the character of the engines (in my opinion) more so than the overall economy although that is definitely a factor as well.
@leadnsteel9 жыл бұрын
Except I would rather have the turbodiesel v6. A diesel engine will last you twice as long as a gas engine. Also the pentastar v6 is having problems with cylinder heads warping. Turbodiesel will also give you more pulling power then a gas v6 specially in a full size truck.
@moaski9 жыл бұрын
leadnsteel There are a lot of reliability issues with modern diesels due to emissions equipment. I think it's six of one and half a dozen of the other, really.
@jasonsulewski82159 жыл бұрын
when you look at towing capacity, 3.6 to ecodiesel isn't really a fair comparison. if you don't plan to tow then the pentastar probably does make more sense. if you are towing, ecodiesel to hemi is the fair comparison in terms of capability. In that comparison the diesel KILLS. also, don't exclude driving dynamics. I've driven all three. in normal driving I'd take the diesel every time when you're not doing a 0-60 test, the diesel is the easiest driving if the bunch. power feels effortless. I'm definitely buying this engine, just debating between the Ram and grand Cherokee right now.

Jason Sulewski Watch out for the clogged EGR which happens within the first 50,000 miles and the pressed-on cam gear failures at 140,000.

Now you see how excellent of fuel economy you get in a big Ram 1500. If Chrysler put this engine in the 300 or even the 200, the fuel economy would be well over 60mpg!

Mine stays in the shop way too much. Waited three weeks for DEF System parts the last time. All repaired under warranty but dealer actually told me to start taking it somewhere else in an EMAIL. Today a salesman actually told me I should have waited 2 or 3 years to buy one to let them get all the bugs worked out. RAM HAS OFFERED TO BUY IT BACK.

Maybe because he's in Canada and in Canada we use the metric system and not the imperial (Standard). Last time I checked any car you can get in the states we get up here too, but there is car that we get exclusively here in Canada, such as the Nissan Micra, Kia Rondo and the Chevy Orlando. Just to name a few.

not sure what you mean - I just hit 50,000 km on it I use 300 to 350$ diesel a week . if i was running a old hemi my gas bill would be 700$ plus a week so that a 18k$ saving a year truck paid for in 3 years in fuel savings alone.
