You want XBoost off unless you're only running resistive loads, it drops the voltage output to allow larger devices to still run at reduced power. Doing that with computers and other more sensitive devices can damage them Also you're communicating over WiFi when it's showing the blue signal bar icon next to the name. Bluetooth will show the Bluetooth logo offset to the right of the name with a cloud and broken chain icon

Thanks for the review, nice looking machine. One thing to remember about electricity, every process/convention is power loss. So if charging dc power tool batteries it would more efficient to charge straight dc to dc, rather than dc/ac/dc.

Seems to me the trick is to charge this off your home AC to full, then put it on the panels to keep it charged and use it off grid as needed.

Mine just arrived today got the 400w solar as well. Plan on using it for my shed so I don’t have to run power and for minor power outages for convenience of internet and recharging cell phones and laptops etc.

Their 400W panel is super expensive, i bought 5, 100w panels from Harbor Freight and get similar output for a fraction of the price. My thought is i can keep the foldable panel in a protected place for when I need it.
@TacticalGhost007
@TacticalGhost007 2 ай бұрын
@@dogishappy0 Ideally you need two 500w panels, one for each solar input, making sure each panel voltage (Voc) does not exceed 60v.
@dogishappy0
@dogishappy0 2 ай бұрын
@TacticalGhost007 yep. A lesson I learned the hard way is to build in a bit of a buffer. I increased my system to two sets of 3x 100w panels at 54 volts because reviews said it could be overwatted, but when winter hit the voltage increased above 60 volts due to the low Temps. I couldn't get solar half the winter as a result. Now I have an Oupes solar generator, and that can handle so much more input.
@TacticalGhost007
@TacticalGhost007 2 ай бұрын
@@dogishappy0 Parallel connecting two of the three panels in each string, or even all three, might have resolved the voltage issue in your case. Series connection doubles the voltage, parallel connection does not change the voltage.

@TacticalGhost007 i put myself in a bad position because I didn't fully understand what I was doing. As things were, I saw a few choices: 1- rewire my setup and refabricate the custom mounts I made to get it to work in the winter 2- buy new solar panels for $1000, try to resell my old panels, and update all wiring, mounts, etc. 3- buy the shiny new solar generator I was wanting for not much more than the price of new panels that could handle my existing system with room for expansion Obviously, I took the excuse to buy the shiny new toy, lol. I've also gotten a good workout in lugging the EcoFlow all around the house to justify my purchase and have lost 50lbs since my original comment 8 months ago.

Just to let you know, the cooler it is, the more wattage you get from your solar panel. It will be more efficient at your house on a sunny day than at Death Valley on a hot day. It also increases the voltage so that if you are near your limit of VOC on a warm day and you then use the same panels on a cold day you could exceed the VOC and fry your Delta.
@AgapeLove878
@AgapeLove878 9 ай бұрын
Could you explain more what would fry the unit. I just bought one of these and do not want to ruin it.
@TacticalGhost007
@TacticalGhost007 2 ай бұрын
@@AgapeLove878 Do not attach solar panels with a voltage over 60v on each of the dual inputs. EcoFlow also says limit wattage to 500w and amps to 15a on each input. The critical figure is the 60v as the D2M can handle over paneling the 500w and the 15a. Voltage, however, is the killer.

@@TacticalGhost007 do you know if is it okay to charge it using solar panels and at the same time using the AC output . does this affect the life span of the battery at the longterm ???
@TacticalGhost007
@TacticalGhost007 15 күн бұрын
@@tamerkayale5392 Not a problem, Tamer, I use appliances and tools most of the time with the solar panels connected. The only time I shut down the solar array is to cycle the batteries down to 20% every week or so ( the EcoFlow Delta 2 Max in our situation sits between 50% and 90% charge every day ) to prolong the units life.

Ok... let's think this through. You have an all-day or multi-day outage. You have this unit in your kitchen with extension cords running all through the house because since it doesn't have 220V you can't wire it right into your panel. So now you've decided the few things that are powered via extension cords and it starts to get depleted. You have solar panels, right? But you can't use those in the house. So now do you disconnect everything in the house and haul this unit out into the yard so you can attach some panels that are pointing at the Sun (hopefully it's not raining, cloudy, night time, snowing, etc.). With my gas generator I just go out on the patio and refuel when needed.... and I can continue that routine until my 20 gallons of gas are gone (which I always have on hand) before I need to think about getting some more fuel which will be at least a WEEK running the generator in survival mode. I just don't get these battery units for long term power outages.

Great talking point. I do believe they have a transfer switch for this as well.
@eosjoe565
@eosjoe565 Жыл бұрын
@@ToolReviewZoneYes, I see they have a (GULP) $2300 transfer switch coming soon. $2300?!? The unit can only supply 120V so you would have to very carefully decide which circuits get power. And of course no 220V means no well pumps or heating units. I get that these units are mack daddy for camping, tailgating, apartment dwellers, etc. but for serious home emergency power it doesn't seem practical. Like I mentioned before, even if you ran extension cords all through the house you would have to disconnect and "go dark" to charge the thing (for however long that takes depending on Sun conditions). Nice review though Clint, you always do a good job. :-)

Yes having a generator is a must have, these solar gens are great to have as well, these smaller ones have a niche, but when there is no gas available and you got these, well guess what? You git power….and usually cable doesnt go out in a power failure, we have run our modem,router and cable tv when power went down…no fumes, now that right there makes it a must have.
@JT-lq4yd
@JT-lq4yd Жыл бұрын
@@eosjoe565I have the smaller version with a expansion battery totalling 2 kwh. My plan to use this in an extended power outage is to recharge it with my dual fuel generator(have a 15 gal gas can and 30 lb. propane cylinder and a few solar panels), this will be charged during the day and most appliances, refrigerator, chest freezer, etc. will be powered by the generator and the "solar" generator during the night. Doing this will extend the time your fuel supply will last. Yes, it will work with smaller appliances and will definitely not run a well pump, electric furnace, water heater, but I am looking to keep the essentials going as I get water from the township, everything else runs on natural gas.
