Ecoflow River 2 Max & 160w Solar Panel First Impressions

I let you know what comes with the ‪@EcoFlowTech‬ River 2 Max/160 watt solar panel combo and give my first impressions of this system, why I chose this system and what I plan on using it for. Including one item you'll need to make this system work if you choose to buy it.

There was a cable in the box with my ecoflow solar panel, but it was hidden in a very slender box that I almost threw away thinking it was just part of the packaging material. Im sure thousands of people have thrown it away accidentally! They need to change this situation!

I bought the solar panel separately here (UK) and it did come with a cable (though I also bought a much longer one too for convenience). Shame you don't seem to get one in the US.

I came here from your Amazon review, according to the other comments people said the package they bought did come with the solar connector cable, so not sure why you didnt get one.

Hey, not sure either, but some of the other reviews of the Ecoflow combos also indicate that they didn't get a cable either. And in these comments it looks like the UK buyers are getting them. Not sure why though. But I do really like the 15ft cable I purchased and it wasn't too expensive.

I bought this set up off Amazon last week. It arrived a couple of days ago and as you say no solar connector cable. Looking at the description on Amazon I’m wondering if it’s sent separately as it does say that it is included. As everything has arrived though different couriers I’m assuming mine will turn up at some point with another courier.

I did read that you can call customer service and they will send one, but it will be short like about 3ft/1m. So you can try that!

I have the 200W bifacial panels and the River 2 Pro. I havent even put the panel on the unit to test it out, but i was curious what you think long term looks like with your 160W panel. Im not excited about this case being the stand, but i would also mostly use it overlanding/camping. I feel the 220w panels are so big, but i guess my family and i go to the western coast a lot where its cloudy, and the panels will perform better than a regular panel. Capability vs practicality.... i think i may want a different panel for every day use, and the 220 would be backup. But for such an expensive unit, you cant not use it. Ugh. Ill get over it, and im going to be impressed with the panel's abilities, but ecoflow really needs a new panel stand design. This case as a stand is not practical. Watch them come out with something next year that sets up 1000% easier. 🤦‍♀️

@ashleykbarks Of course they will! 😂. But I think you'll like how quickly the 220 will charge your battery. Plus the bifacial design is nice. But I hear you. Set up is tricky sometimes and I often just lean my panel against the house as it's faster and easier. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Can we charge it using usb type c. Kindly tell how?

Unfortunately, it cannot be charged via USB-C. Only AC, Solar or DC (Car port/ former cigarette lighter port in a car). Thanks for the question though! I'm curious if we'll someday have that ability in thiese types of products.

But catalog e say type c can be used for charging as well.. Am I reading it wrong

@@Carcamper.Telugu I stand corrected you can use USB-C to charge it with up to 100w Max. So you just need to plug in the USB-C cable from a charger. Just purchased both today but my solar panel won't charge my river 2 max. Should I request for a replacement?

I would definitely call customer service and see if they have any trouble shooting steps and if those don't work get it replaced.

I bought the Ecoflow River 2 max and I thought it had LiFePO4 batteries and the box and instructions say lithium ion. I called the dealer and he said the instructions are maybe old .it has to have LiFePO4 batteries. But there is no indication that is so. Why is that? It has the handle on the back just like this video.

Hi, I'm not sure where you purchased it from, but mine is defiantly LiFEPO4. If you got it from Amazon or the Ecoflow store directly you it should be LiFEPO4. You could ask for an exchange maybe? @@BenInBeta. Thank you. I bought it from Renewable outdoors. A very reputable dealer. He said it has to be LiFePO4. I Called Ecoflow and they said it was LiFePO4. But the box it came in and the instructions say lithium ion. I am just assuming they cut off the lithium ion phosphate in the description. Thank you for your response. It is the same packaging as yours . The same booklet. Inside mine under FAQ answering the kind of battery it says high quality lithium-ion battery. I hope that means LIFePO4.

@@BenInBeta. I hate to bother you again, but in your Ecoflow booklet pictured in this video, does yours say high quality lithium -ion battery under the FAQ page? 3 pages in. I called Ecoflow again and they said don’t worry about it. Haha. I will use your video to help me set it up. Thank you.

You appear to have bought a xt60 (yellow) cable rather than the correct xt60i (orange) cable. You lost polarity protection. NOT all aftermarket cables have the correct polarity wired up for the ecoflow. Please correct this and let your viewers know before they unknowingly damage their units. Ecoflow - you REALLY dropped the ball by not providing the correct cable and making it BLATANTLY obvious which side of the xt60 is pos/neg on the machine.

Thanks for the concern, but Per the EcoFlow website it believe that this cable is still ok, "Standard XT60 connectors can be used on EcoFlow power stations, but charge rates may be lower. XT60i connectors can also be used on the River range, but the charge rate will be the same as the XT60."
