I have owned and used the Ecoflow wave 2 with the battery in my van for 2 years. I just now figured out the BEST (imo) setup. I park the unit in my garage where I have an AC plug for when I’m on shore power or for when I run the inverter while alternator charging (driving). I vent the hoses out my back door…yes, it will not close and use the long extra hose to snake up to my bed. That long hose can be stretched to force air into my living area and then retracted to force air on me while sleeping. Bottom line, this unit is NEVER going to cool the entire van, but I am very comfy if I position the back end in shade, put my awning out, etc. I discovered that I can run the thing on eco ALL night and still have more than 50% battery left. It took about 1 hour driving to fully charge the battery again. This setup is so much easier than lugging the thing inside and venting out the drivers window and leaves the van so much tidier and it is just as comfortable.

Hey, just found out a neat trick. Ordered the Wave 2 without the battery. I also ordered just the Delta 2 Max extra battery. I took a chance and sure enough, the Wave 2 charges the extra battery. I wanted more juice than what the Wave 2 battery had. So know I’ll take the extra battery and Wave 2 with me camping. Should last me through the night.

Great product for Semi Truck drivers. This system a lot cheaper then the $15;000 ThermoKing. Buy a couple batteries, or a 5KW rack battery. Charge while driving run all night on battery power, recharge in morning.

@keithjansen1734 AC units are major energy hogs. The Wave 2 uses two Heat Pumps to heat/cool, and heat pumps are extremely efficient compared to other methods of air conditioning.

@@keithjansen1734looks like you need to watch the in depth review and all your questions will be answered. I’m not a scientist, BUT I have 6 years of college, and the definition of sipping power, I learned way back in 6th grade era. I hope so! Ecoflow should add a water purification system to utilize the condensation for drinking in emergency situation. I've been using the wave 2 full-time in a 23ft Winnebago for about a year. I'm definitely happy with its performance. Though additional air circulation is key.

I'm pretty bummed about this, I've always trusted Hobotech reviews but the original video he references multiple times clearly shows that the price was always what is now the "sale" price. It's still $1199 so they just bumped the price to reduce it for a sale. Very shady.

Yeah that's really no deal. I own the Wave 2, with battery, the original Delta (great purchase), the Delta 2 with extra battery. I wished I had purchased the Delta 2 Max with extra battery but at the time I needed the extra money to purchase the Wave 2 w/battery. I purchased 4x200 bifacial panels to charge the Delta 2 and Wave 2. With the help of this channel and othersI like Will Prowse, I have built several Solar back-up systems (home and hunting camps) and DIY solar generators; often with the help of Hobotech's channel. THANK YOU for your advice. I really do enjoy this Channel. Oh by the way I started watching your Channel years ago, when you were doing electric bikes. Entertaining. We have been following you for years! Because of you we found jackery products! Question? We have a Cessna 182 airplane that we wanted to consider using EcoWave2 to cool the plane in our tough Texas summers. I can vent out the tail the exhaust and water drip, I need to design or come up with how to interface the diameter of the Ecowave2 hoses to mate up a smaller diameter vent hose that will exit the plane underneath if anyone’s has used this in their plane please share. 2nd Question does the EcoWave 2 unit need to be primarily level? Obviously flying will have some degree of pitch and roll axis movement. Thanking you in advance. Appreciate all suggestions and direction. Blessings, Duncan

I got the Wave 2 last year and it got me through the hot summer when I was in my jeep. It works even better when you block your windows with reflective shades. One little issue I noticed is the air flow comes out at an angle instead of straight out the front. The other little issue is the app that controls the Wave 2 is bloated with marketing and requires logging in.

@@Hansen710 Oh sorry, I should have been more detailed. I was working 12 hours shifts last summer and the only place I could shelter from the sun was in my parked jeep. Summer temps sometimes reached 100 degrees. At first I was simply running the jeep A/C for about 6 hours a day. As you can imagine this uses a lot of gasoline. I then purchased the Wave 2 with the optional battery, but a nice neighbor let me plug into his outdoor outlet so I could run the Wave 2 without needing the battery. The sun shades and the Wave 2 kept me cool. As to your second question, the jeep I purchased brand new in 2015 for $31.275.

I wound up getting a Wave 2... been looking for a portable AC for a long time and I was intrigued by the battery option. As a light A/C unit it works well on AC and I am happy with the operation. It is by no means the best portable heat pump out there, but its decent. My only nit on operation is that it would be even better if we could dial in a specific wattage target instead of having all the weird modes. Still, I can get decent operation with it averaging roughly 330W. The ECO mode (200-250W on average) is basically unusable, but at 330W it is decent. That said, I made the mistake of getting it with the battery and IMHO the battery is basically worthless. It won't mix solar charging and AC consumption at all. So you either run it on AC, or you run it on solar, but not both. Which is really too bad. And I didn't realize the battery was NMC rather than LiFePO4. I really don't like having large NMC batteries in the house. That was my bad. For camping I'd just assume take the efficiency hit and run it off of AC from a power station, since I need to have the power station anyway for other things. The other huge problem is that the battery is totally proprietary. The unit would be far more useful if it could be run from a non-proprietary DC source and the battery would be far more useful if the solar was integrated into it instead of integrated into the main unit. Ah well, live and learn! -Matt

Heating doesn't work on mine, has "high voltage", apparently. Still I'd rather have a "Wave 1.5" (as the original didn't have heating mode) than deal with returning it via the Japanese post office. I have the battery but barely use it, I just run it on AC through the Bletti, but soon I'll get another BougeRV 200w panel, then we'll see!

Try looking up channels that specifically focus on VanLife, RV'S, camping, etc. I found roughly 2 of each around a year ago when I was researching buying one of these. I'm sure there's more now. The only real things I remember are how the Wave2 costs less and uses less power than those rooftop AC's you can get on cars at the cost of cabin space, and it doesn't take this thing long to turn camping into glamping. Me? I used it to heat my bedroom above the temperature I set the rest of the house to this winter. Those 5 degrees more in my bedroom would have been roughly equivalent to an additional 15% on my heating bill each month but were free for me thanks to my solar powered Wave 2. I hope this helps with your cost/benefit analysis!

I've been thinking about snagging one of these during the anniversary sale and wanted to see what people may advice in my specific situation. This product is a no brainer camping in a minivan (Sienna) for cooler temperatures during the night in hotter climate (Texas etc). I understand the limitations of the product but would only need it to keep temperature comfortable overnight in the warmer months of the year. My plan would be to use the vans own AC to cool it before bedtime, and then run the Wave2 in eco mode to keep things at a comfortable level while sleeping. It looks like it's perfect for this. The ONE concern that I have is the battery and being able to use it more than one night without shore power.. I'm assuming it will drain most of the attached battery over night, and while I have 2 solar panels, it's only 230w (100 + 130). Will this even be close to enough to top up the battery for night 2 and onward or will the capacity just get smaller for each night ? lol? Is this a scenario that makes sense if I'd need to use it for several night out in the middle of nowhere? I do see that they sell the 800w alternator charger, so I guess that could be a way to recharge it while running the car for faster top up, but then you do have to run the car a long time... What say y'all?

I bought the Wave 2 and the add-on battery after seeing your original video. Thank you for the education! I have a Bluetti AC200P and when I plugged the Wave 2 with the add-on battery into the AC200P’s AC source, somehow it drains the AC200P from 100% to 50% in about 30 minutes but the Wave 2’a add-on battery barely charged (it was at 1 light out of 4 after this). Is this normal?

@SherwoodTravels
@SherwoodTravels 4 ай бұрын
@@michaelmartin9022 The battery was indeed connected, because that’s the only way this add-on battery can charge, from what I understand? Basically the add-on is connected to the Wave 2 and I had to plug the Wave 2 into a power source in order to charge the add-on battery. So it goes from power source (in this case a Bluetti), to Wave 2, and then to the add-on battery. True I could operate the Wave 2 without connecting the battery. I will be trying that next. What I was trying to do was to charge the add-on for later use (the Wave 2 was turned on but I wasn’t using it for AC and even the fan was off), so it surprised me when I saw 1,000W drain after a short time and the add-on battery barely charged. Hopefully Professor Hobo can do an experiment? 😅

Can you please explain the duel vent hose situation? I've only ever just vented the one hot air exhaust (in AC cooling mode). The second one would be an intake, correct?! What are the pros v cons of using the intake hose? Especially in hot weather, it seems like pulling cooler air from inside the van would be more efficient? One vent hose is hard enough, but two would be a real mess to rig up in my van. Thanks 🙏 -Gabe

Are these a better idea to get two of them for reliability and energy efficiency relative to replacing the original Fedder a/c in the 90's roadtreks? Use only one most of the time but in July and August double the btus would be nice. It seems like less surgery would be needed and one could go in that armorire that I'll never use half of.

The challenge would be venting both to the outside. I believe this unit is too tall to fit inside the space where the original window unit sits. You'd have to measure yours and see.

Thank you Hobotech for your quick response and all your very informative and helpful videos!!! I have one more question, my wave 2 is coming with one of the new eco flow alternator chargers and I'm wondering if it will work on my Bluetti AC180? or is the alternator charger only good with the eco flow batteries? I'm seeing that there are other dc-dc chargers out there but I don't know which one to get for my Bluetti? I purchased all these on the recent amazon prime days and hoping to set up my tundra for camping. Please keep up the good work! and clean out that cat box!

there is one thing that I simply can not find anywhere. When you run the wave 2 WITH the external battery, is the xt60 \ 400 watt enough to run this unit indefinity when set to max ac?? Their own specs say it consumes 550w so it doesnt seem like it should work. This is the only information holding me back from buying one. I do not have the overhead ability to provide with 110vac. The xt60 is my only means of charging and using it. I have a massive battery bank and the ability to provide 400w dc to that port, but if the wave 2 eats more power then the xt60 can provide, the wave 2 will still die eventually. Please, can someone confirm if the xt60 can run this thing indefinitly?

Yes? (You already answered the question…) Putting pressure on it stops the vibration… therefore put something where the vibration is causing noise… like use a shim (cardboard?) someplace that can put pressure on the panel… Tape could be used to fix this issue in at least a half dozen different ways. Let the “jury-rigging” begin!

This product has a 7.2EER, which is pathetic (worse than most window units). Its battery barely lasts 8hrs and has to be in eco mode to achieve it, so more battery and solar is needed for most folks. I recommend investigating some of the 20EER 48VDC mini splits.
