The amount of federal debt in the U.S. is going to create a "doomsday machine" that will erode the value of fiat money away and potentially spiral the economy into a depression, according to Lawrence Lepard, Managing Partner of Equity Management Associates.

America is currently plagued by the hydra-headed evil duo of inflation and recession. The worst part about this recession is that consumers are racking up credit card debt. In April alone, credit card debt went up 20% while rates have doubled in a year. Inflation is so high that consumers are literally taking debt for basic life necessities. Collapse has indeed begun..

In the world of finance, recessions are prime opportunities for wealth creation. When my portfolio suffered a significant loss in April of last year, I realized the need to enlist the expertise of a financial consultant. With her guidance, I have not only recovered from my losses but also generated a profit of 450k. The knowledge and skills I have acquired through this experience have been invaluable in my journey towards financial success.

I think we are too obsessed about the economy crashing. In the right sense, the economy never crashes. It just undergoes cycles, and almost always recovers. So I really don't care what the predictions are. I just want to grow my portfolio. I read that people are pulling in massive profits despite the downturn. Any tips on how they do it?

The market will always recover. The goal is to find quality stocks with long term potential. It's hard for the average Joe to do this, because it involves following a lot of industry news, following up with earnings, etc. It's easier to invest through an advisor who knows how stuff works, and make rocket returns.
@KevinClarke9

Investing in quality stocks with long-term potential is a good strategy, but it can be challenging for the average person to do this on their own. Keeping up with industry news and earnings can be time-consuming and difficult. That's why it's easier to work with an advisor who can help you make informed decisions and potentially achieve high returns.

Here in Metro Detroit when auto sales slow then comes housing. And once housing slows carpenters, roofers, plumbers etc get laid off then they don't buy new trucks then more auto workers get laid off. It's a vicious cycle here in Southeastern Michigan. Then the auto suppliers get laid off and don't buy houses then more skilled trades get laid off. It happens pretty quickly. I've see residential developments sit for decades with zero movement.

The current system is showing signs of strain due to government and federal policies. In the coming days, the banking crisis would need to reach an unprecedented scale for the FED to avoid raising interest rates. However, that seems unlikely; an increase appears imminent, potentially leading to a market downturn. Anticipate more challenging times in the latter half of 2024, marked by market turbulence, escalating inflation, and potential bank failures. I'm curious: will the swift interest rate hike benefit a value-driven investor, or is it wiser to steer clear of stocks temporarily?

What about the threat to Bitcoin that via the ETF's, 10 or so companies own a large majority of BTC and therefore control or can impact the price of BTC in either direction based on buy/sell...does anyone know what amount of BTC any of the ETF holders can hold of total amount? It seems that an ETF could own BTC, sell some of their holding to knock price by 10% and buy back quickly at lower price?

I’d be curious why your guest thinks equities are too high. A lot of quality companies have lowered estimates since the see a slowdown and based on those lower expectations have low P/E ratios. I think the reason the market is rallying is because so many companies have been out of favor for a very long time.

Government does not like competition - This is the biggest threat to BTC. IF it gets to be a big enough problem, governmentS (plural) will shut it down and cut off on/off-ramps to its use. Jamie Dimon suggested that the government do just this.
@LeaHerrington
@LeaHerrington 7 ай бұрын
Agreed. Although the time for them to have shut it down has passed. The US Government is one of the biggest holder of Bitcoin. BlackRock is basically the US Government. Jaime Dimon had also said he would fire anyone at JP Morgan that was buying Bitcoin, but then, turned around and purchased a bunch. He speaks of corruption with the crypto world, but the irony is that Jamie Dimon turned a blind eye to Jeffrey Epstein’s accounts being managed by JP Morgan. The govt. will definitely want to control it as you mentioned.

Somethings going to break? Something is already broken. If the Fed starts cutting aggressively, who'll buy the Treasuries'? It'll give the Chinese an opportunity to dump their treasuries that are currently underwater with the recent rate hikes. That leaves the Fed back with QE. When the Fed pivots what does the next day look like? Next year the Treasury needs to cover $8 trillion in old and new debt. With all that debt hitting the market, how do you keep rates down? Print Money?

I think you nailed the issue in western economies. Politicians have shifted from “what is best for the country and its population in the long term”, to” what gets me elected next time”. Look at the US. Any effort to cut spending is met with “you are taking food from children” or “ you are cutting police and firemen”. The population has become dumb enough, and media has become savvy enough to ensure that short term views are the priority for most people. Look at college debt relief, welfare, free healthcare, etc.

@@whdndrn perhaps. But compared to the alternatives, it is the best humanity has come up with. Utopia is not of this world. It has brought more people out of poverty, and created more inventions that improve the lives of ordinary people than any system yet devised. In fact, even the Soviets and Chinese communists turned to capitalism in order to solve their food production and poverty problems.

Highly intelligent conversation. And I am squarely in agreement with Lawrence, albeit I still think the crypto world is a bit unstable and it’s entirely possible one or more of these digital assets could overtake Bitcoin.

I just can't see why Lawrence thinks BTC is the future. I understand he likes the "theory" of it, but it's not practically going to work. The energy problem alone will disqualify it. Not to mention the regulatory problems in growing economies of the next century like China and India.

You're thinking in term of populace still following orders from collapsing governments. Do a bit of research to find out what the common folk are doing in Lebanon, Venezuelans, Turkey in order to survive high/hyperinflation. I can assure you most are not following the so called government laws and regulation. Gold and bitcoin are a bet against collapsing governments, plan and simple.

What hyperinflation? If they hold here and DONT print we will go into the greatest depression, 60% unemployment and stock market down 80%. 50% population mass die off. That isn't good enough? Hyperinflation only happens if they print. Print print print. So don't print. Interest rates are already excessively high.

You are correct. The market has charged ahead anticipating rate cuts. The problem is if the Fed did that it would be because the economy is in trouble and if it’s in trouble how is that good for PE ratios? Don’t fight the Fed!

Your guest is right on the money, Gold is considered a Tier One Asset and is stock piled by the central banks of the world, remember that all fiat currency goes to zero value over time including digital currency. Right now your currency is losing 8.8% of its value every year causing inflation to remain high along with interest rates and when cash is eliminated, silver will be the new cash to buy, trade and barter for what you want. So if your smart, you will have some of your wealth into hard assets like real estate, gold, silver or art with auction history, and if you keep it all in currency then ask yourself a question, do you think that when it comes time to collect your pension that it will be enough to support you when you retire, I will answer that question for you, that would be a NO as far as I am concerned. Example, the people in Venezuela don't use their currency because its worthless, they do use silver and gold, with 1oz. of silver you can feed a family of 5 for 3 months, 1oz of gold will buy you the whole house, that should tell you something. Gold and Silver are real money, all the rest is just credit on borrowed time.
@patentexperts1675
@patentexperts1675 7 ай бұрын
I like your theory and it makes sense, but how can you feed a "family of 5 for 3 months" with 1 ounce of silver that is only worth about $25.00 US Dollars?
@bruce5895
@bruce5895 7 ай бұрын
@@patentexperts1675 because when you convert US dollar value into Venezuela's currency you have a pile of money at your disposal. That was just one example of how silver is convertible to goods, another that I can give you is, in the barter world world if you have silver, or fractional gold, you can trade for what ever you want at the retail value of the metal is at the time of the transaction, and one last example, I went out to what you would call a open air market that sells food, fruits, bakery items, vegetables, meats etc and ask the question, would they take my 1oz. silver coins as payment for their products at the going retail price, they all said yes, I said, remember what you said to me when cash is banned because I may be calling on you in the future, which just goes to prove that silver and gold are real money, while all the rest is just credit on borrowed time. So protect your wealth, while the dollar value continues to go down and the metal prices continue to go up, if you bought gold in the year 2000, it went up 693% while the stock market did not go up half of that.
