"We need to think about doing things on their terms and their way when it comes to refugee communities. Helping these communities engage with services is crucial, most have not had playgroups, child care, pre school, it hasn't been a part of their culture and they have no idea what that's about, why is that needed, how it is helpful."
Rosemary draws on her training and experience as a Music Therapist, Psychotherapist and Occupational Therapist in developing and providing early childhood services at Service for the Treatment & Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS). She combines dyadic bio-psycho social clinical interventions with community based research and community development strategies. In her various professional capacities over the years, Rosemary has worked with people of all ages, very young children with their caregivers, people with disabilities, and from many different cultures and life experiences. All of this experience converged in her early childhood work with families from refugee backgrounds.
