Delonghi Dinamica Plus Review!

My coffee journey with Delonghi started in 2017 when mom bought Magnifica S for us, in 2021 I was able to move out, bought Magnifica S Smart with discount coupons and for this Christmas I bought this beauty, so few things I noticed, when it grinds coffee and pumps it out it sounds like Primadonna we had at work, also it has 19 bars as Primadonna, at this point I suspect it is smaller cheaper plastic sister of Primadonna, since even coffee of same brand taste similar when done on Dinamica Plus. BTW I have Titan gray version. But Black version is nice too.

I just bought this machine to replace my 8 year old Delonghi Magnifica and boy was I annoyed to discover that unlike my practically ancient machine…this high tech coffee machine has no built in clock and no ability to pre set it to come on in the morning at a certain time. What an epic fail by Delonghi.

I called DeLonghi about this. I was told the reason is, this machine warms up much faster than the older machines, about 30-40 seconds instead of 1 minute (for my Eletta Top).

I still have to stand there and wait 40 seconds in the morning…whereas before I just slapped my cup down and pressed the button. Not really. It can do a Long Coffee but this just pushes more water through the group head causing over extraction and some bitterness. Best to do a double espresso and then use the hot water function to make up the rest of the drink.

The espresso comes out way too cold. I bought my machine after reviews like this. Utter crap machine. Might as well be serving lukewarm tap water. The app also sucks. It's extremely slow, and uses bad bluetooth code so if you're one room away it stops working on an iPhone.

Yep, this is really detracting, for a $1699 machine, or even the $1399, the app is absolutely atrocious, full of disconnecting, constant re-logins, repeated freezing/crashing. Was pretty interested in this for the app functionality, but after seeing the 1.7 stars on it in Google play, gonna have to look elsewhere.

Hi! Super automatic machines will usually not steam milk higher than 150*F. It should be around 120* - 140* (depending on your settings, room temperature and other variables) :)

If you are wanting an extra hot latte or milk beverage, going with a machine that has a steaming wand can be a better option since it will not produce milk at that temperature. If you are local to either our Burlington or Ancaster location stop in for a demo to try a latte out of the machine :)

Now that you guys have access to the Evo I just watched the other review. Would you say that the coffee wise the heat? How good the frother is is identical except it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of this expensive one?

Heat is similar. Frother is better on the Dinamica with the ability to adjust.

I think using the app is redundant. You still have to get up and go to the fridge to get the milk, usually stored in the frother in the fridge. You also have to put a cup on it. So you are at the machine no matter what, so why not just use the touch screen on the machine. I have owned an Eletta for 6 years and I swear by these machines. There could be some improvements like being able to tie directly into your waterline making the water container moot, or maybe a combination of both. You could use the space to store beans or whatever. I find the grounds container only allows for 3 or 4 coffees max which is frustrating. If you don't use the machine for a specific amount of time, before you can make a coffee you have to empty the grounds container. Its sucks when you get it all ready to go, then the error comes up "empty grounds container". Then you have to take off the frother, remove your cup etc, pull out the base drawer, grab the container, go empty it, then start all over again. Its a pain. But it makes a great cup of coffee. Another problem as I see it is if you want to try different beans from around the world like I do, then you have to wait until all the beans in the hopper are used. Or you can dump out the current beans by turning the machine upside down and then put in your new beans. It would be nice to have 3 or 4 slots to put in certain beans then select a button to use certain beans. That all said, this company has the "it" factor. Anytime I needed something, they answer the phone right away and in my case I lost my water spout and they had one in the mail that same day. Then I decided I wanted an extra frother and again, in the mail the same day. Amazing company.

I just found out from experience that the app is great when you have kids who want your attention all the time and won't let you make coffee in peace. I can just set the machine up in the morning and when I want coffee then just hit the app and go get the cup. My son gets really cranky when I fiddle with any touchscreen that isn't my phone :D

Yeah... about the app... It's useful if you are blind, such as myself, since the smartphones are made accessible but any other touchscreen, including the one on this machine, isn't! However, I would have liked for it to have regular push-buttons, so I wouldn't have to fumble around with the phone, just to get a coffee! And you might say that there are other models with buttons, but I will point out that those are much lower models, and this is reflected also in the coffee beverage quality.

Thanks for the great info. What problems have you seen with this particular unit? We currently have a Oracle Touch and in 4 years, we have had the solenoid go out 3 times. We have had the infuser and the bambino plus for a lot longer with zero issue. My husband requires an auto milk system and I've just come to not trust Breville because they charge us $500 USD for each repair even though we have seen this be a huge problem all over the internet on this model. We mainly drink Cortados and are open to other suggestions as well.

I currently own a DeLonghi Rialto that's probably about 15 years old and have had no issues with that machine. Just recently my machine started making a different sound when the brewing unit moves about, which is what's making me start looking into alternatives, but I absolutely love mine DeLonghi. My parents own a Jura and have had to take it in for service numerous times in contrast.

Depends on the person. Supearutomatics never get to the level of a coffee shop or steam wand. So if you are used to hot milk from a coffee shop then you will likely not find it hot enough. They can keep the milk in the steam for a longer period. Whereas a superautomatic is a set amount of time.

@@jokkny you can't ! The only way is to increase temp of your coffee to Max...which then may give you a taste of burned coffee..depend on your coffee beans of course.

@@dahass thanks, yep. That's exactly the reason I returned the machine for a refund. I went back to using my Breville dual boiler. Don't think I can ever part with it. It is a very capable machine that produces the best coffee every time. (they are a complete opposite style of machine, auto v manual)
