In this installment of the MK7.5 GTI Sweepstakes build series we remove the weak factory clutch and install a twin disk organic clutch from DKM. The factory GTI clutch cannot handle added torque from aggressive tunes, so we decided to upgrade preemptively.
We also added some drivetrain mounts and suspension bits from 034Motorsport, which will help keep our soon-to-be added power on the pavement.
While working on the transmission, we solidified the shifting experience by adding our entire line of ECS Tuning upgrades. This included a short shifter, solid cable end links, solid bracket bushings, clutch bleeder block, and stainless steel clutch line.

Just picked up my mk7.5 R the other day looking forward to some power mods but a clutch will be the first on the list.. My previous car was a manual mk5 gti and the stock clutch lasted for 153k half of that life being full bolt ons and stage 3 for a year. It finally gave out after a few weeks of pushing 314whp. Thought I’d share how strong the mk5 clutches were!

haha i have to agree! i had an mk4 gti and i drove the balls off that thing and the oem clutch lasted me 200k and would still be going strong if the motor didn't give up, no worries got an mk6 golf r now :)

Mk7 GTI owners be cautious with this kit. It is known to cause crank walk, and the throw out bearing is known to shit the bed. I purchased their MB series stage 2 kit from ECS tuning, and I have reached out to them for warranty in regards to the throw out bearing, still have not heard back from them.

@@rambow70 I ended up selling the car back in 2019 lmao. Swapped the oem clutch back in. The clutch kit was causing the car to not go in gear, so I’m not sure what was going on. After a lot of time and money, I was able to get a contact at DKM directly about the issue. A rep named Sarah was extremely helpful and actually let me return the clutch with a full refund. I may have just had a defective kit. Who knows!

How is the clutch in traffic, I was thinking because it has a solid disk ie. no spring center ir would be really grabby/aggressive. Is that the case?

I had this clutch and the mounts. Thing chattered like a tractor at stop lights and made the car feel cheap and made the interior rattle like a spray can. totally ruined the ride. The clutch also felt like pushing 20lbs all the time.

Insane rev hang is in the Golf mk6 2.5 i inline five. Loved driving that car, but hated the rev hang. Mk7 isn't that bad in comparison.

you're way behind the times...those were some early bad batches in 2017. It's almost 2020. This has become the clutch you install and not worry about your clutch while you do your power mods.you can stay stage 1 or go all the way up to 3.
