So, IMO, as a fellow MK7 GTI 6spd manual owner, that has been Stage 2 since 2k miles, and now IS38 custom tuned, I will have to say that the weakest part on this car is the clutch. It really depends on how your drive the GTI, that determines how long the clutch lasts. If you plan on doing exactly what Jewel City has been doing, and that is using your GTI more for pulls and races, the clutch he has is the perfect setup for anything around 450wtq or less, give or take. You will be able to do pull after pull, with no issues. If you plan on having similar mods, or even IS38, or even IS20 Stage 2, and use it as a daily, that clutch kit, and many others, will also be fine. The thing that starts to become more problematic is how much you drive, especially how much city driving you do. I say that because with a lot of city driving, you are on the clutch a lot more than if you're just daily'ong it to work and back or doing pulls like Jewel City. And with using the clutch a lot more, the weakest point of the clutch, the TOB/slave, gets worn out a lot faster, and will fail prematurely. That's what sucks about the 6spd. I have had three TOB/slave's fail prematurely on me, and it sucks so bad.

Try APR throttle booster. I have one with stage 1 and makes car feel so much sharper for Street driving (150%) . Engine feel much more eager to rev. Compared to 100% linear throttle. Power can be tuned down too. When running 80% profile, car feels a lot smoother. You can do that without doing tunes. The remote allow you to adjust thrpttle reaponse on the fly

Hi im from europe, i own a mk7 clubsport. Its the same engine as a golf R but with FWD only. Question, i have a clunk sound in the front when driving on unregular roads like with old roads with, i dont know the word, they are "kasseien" colbble stones? So why that clunk?
@thatguythatdoesstuff744817 күн бұрын
The problem with changing to a single mass flywheel is that the flywheel, engine rotating assembly and the harmonic balancer are all designed as one unit. You're changing the harmonic frequency of the rotating assembly using a different flywheel and a rubber/elastomer HB is designed to quell a certain harmonic frequency, with some of that is absorbed by a dual mass flywheel. The "benefits" of a single mass flywheel are dubious for a road car. And the untamed harmonics are terrible for the engine. Not sure about for this car, but I know there are makers of lightweight, dual mass flywheels. Fidanza comes to mind.
@thatguythatdoesstuff744817 күн бұрын
Also, the rattling in that video is most likely due to an extremely lightweight SMF. You can go single mass, but I would go with something that is not too much lighter than the factory setup. And I would bite the bullet on a Fluidampr if I wanted my engine to last.

Apologies for the unrelated comment, but what’s the idea behind many big-power GTI folk downsizing to 17” wheels? Presumably it’s to fit a tire with a taller sidewall, and if I understand correctly that in turn may help put power down? Though if so, how does that work?
@JewelCity1 Жыл бұрын
Bigger tire with more sidewall for straight line grip. Some 17s are usually lighter too so less unsprung mass.
