Just installed this today. Some tips: -The order they do this in is weird. How I did it: --Run vacuum tubing --Wire all electrical connections & let cables lie on floor --Remove & modify vent assembly --Install gauge in pod --In car, route cables up through dash to vent area, route through vent assembly, plug in gauge, assemble gauge pod to vent assembly, shut vent door with cables in cut notch, install vent assembly into dash --Bundle up & zip tie wiring up under dash -Little tan plug attached to center vent assembly DOES pull out, no clips. However mine was EXTREMELY hard to get out. Be careful. It doesn't just come right out, not at all easy like the video makes it seem. -Install the gauge in the vent pod before installing the pod into the vent assembly. DO NOT use any grease. All this does is make sure the gauge will pop back out over and over and piss you off. -Zip tie hard plastic boost signal tubing to various items along the way while routing it. Don't allow tubing to ride on any metal or sharp surfaces. Vibration over time will wear a hole in the tubing and you'll wonder why your gauge doesn't do anything. -Be prepared to have extra patience when doing the wiring connections. VW/Audi gave the bare minimum of slack/extra wire. Space/wire length is very limited. -Use different connectors for mistake proofing, so you can disconnect/reconnect for service needs and not struggle to remember what wire goes where. For example I used on gauge wiring harness side: 1 male bullet 1 female bullet 1 male spade 1 female spade Use the accompanying connector for the headlight harness side. -Headlight switch wiring varies from car to car. The vehicle used in this video is a highline (uses smaller gauge wiring and a central electronics unit). The important thing to know that the PDF instructions are TERRIBLE AT describing is the descriptions of the sources: Gauge red to HL black = Keyed 12v Gauge grn to HL red = Constant 12v Gauge white to HL grey/blue stripe = backlight for gauge (Park lamp switched on) Gauge black to HL brown = Ground I highly recommend you have a multimeter and know how to check DC voltage, resistance to verify ground. This helps double check your connections. One good enough to do this job can be acquired cheaply. Happy boosting!

How do you send the wires into the cabin if the car is a manual? The instruction here is for an automatic I believe.
@brandonknutson18719 жыл бұрын
keep in mind that this is on a automatic. The hole that they show to run the line through into the car is not there on a standard. I suggest running the hard line from inside the car to the tap so you can use a pre made path and grab it on the other side.

I have purchased this item and would recomend to place the boost gauge on the vent pod before installing the vent. It is much easier to fit it and the only way I could.

I just finished installing this boost gauge kit. It looks Fantastic, But there are two main concerns i have with it. One is that in this installation video you do not use all the parts givin to me in the install kit, I have a whole grouping of it looks like rubber hosing left over, What is this for? Secondly, The gauge isint secured by anything in the vent pod, It moves freely to the right because of the wires pulling on it from behind...

ECS, what are the differences between the 1.8T and the 2.0T kits? Also, is this installation process similar with a '07 B7 A4 2.0T? If not, I would like a link that will point me in the right direction to properly install the 2.0T boost gauge. Thank you.

hi, I bought this boost gauge ES#2535264 for a passat b5.5 and I am worrying about the wiring. Is it the same wire color ?
@Chris-lz7sx4 жыл бұрын
Something is not right here with this install. You ran 2 sets of wires into the vent and these 2 sets attached to the boost gauge one set was for the sensor and the other i presume for power. When your showing the wiring connections you only show the sensor wires connecting to the back of the light switch harness. What happened with the other wire harness??

why fo through the effort of pluming the pipe in from the engine bay?isnt it easier to install the sensor in the engine bay?

My gauge doesn’t illuminate when i turn on the headlights which wire does this apply to in the harness so that i can try to fix it
@bradleydelauder35694 жыл бұрын
Your illumination should be controlled with a power and a ground. Put your ground on a good bare piece of metal under a bolt. The power needs to be hooked into an accessory power. Which is a power when the key is on

How about on a 2013 2.0 tfsi. With a metal intake manifold. Because if i had a line running like that from my manifold. This job would have been done days ago. But for the life of me i cant find any Vacuum lines to tap into.

You could use this line for the preassure gauge. It should be the preassure line to feed the N75 and Blow off valve.

And lastly (I'm assuming this has nothing to do with the Gauge itself) But i have a stage 1 2004 B6 A4 Automatic and the boost is only showing a max of 14psi (I'm told it should be around 21psi.) Is it possible that i left the plastic tubing underneath the steering column to long so it is reading the boost pressure wrong? Or might this be a mechanical issue?
