I truly believe that ECU needs to fight to get into the ACC. I think this will help with the quality of recruiting. We shouldn’t be Joining a league where it’s getting easier. We want to be mentioned with the big boys so we need to play them. I went and played at ECU and we should not be a 2 win team. Especially with the transfer portal. I believe we would become a school to play for. The womens basketball team is figuring it out. And the Baseball team has figured it out. I know it can happen.

Yes we need to fight for the ACC. We have a medical school engineering business education and healthcare. We have degrees commensurate with current ACC schools. Baseball is ready, football would blossom in the ACC, basketball would struggle early on but conference notoriety would bolster recruiting classes for all sports.

@@charlieshort6394 I agree with everything you said. We can’t wait for them to approach us. We have to go to them. We are good as far as traveling is concerned as well. We are local to most of the prime ACC schools. And our crowd will travel. Plus we can’t forget womens basketball won their conference a year ago and went to the NCAA’s. And womens softball is not bad. We definitely need the ACC now. I don’t like the conference that we are in now. The ACC needs to let us in.

@@HUNT919TruthSports I forgot to mention Womens Softball. Facilities will be paramount to enter into that conversation. It's so difficult with the NIL, the portal and just the nature of recruiting these days. Young athletes are so influenced by facilities and coaching staffs. Unfortunately we are still a stepping stone for coaches in Division I athletics. We had Gardner and Tristan Newton and we could have made a move with our Men's basketball, but the portal. I was on the 83-85 football teams (scout team player) and I love ECU. 83 was special as a Freshman with such a talented team. Both of my parents went through ECU

@@charlieshort6394 Yes I agree with you 100 percent. But we have a new softball field and a very good baseball field. The football and their facilities looks good. Not top tier as it could be. But definitely good enough. Our main issue is mens basketball. Yes we lost the 2 players to UCONN and to Virginia. We also just lost our two top players this year. One to Miami and one to Utah. Those are 2 major conferences. So we can get players. But we have to knock down minges. We need a new basketball arena PERIOD. A new conference “The ACC” and a new arena will attract players. And we have to do secondary recruiting. Meaning recruit kids from the portal in their 2nd and 3rd years. I went to ECU as well. I played on the 95 team that went to the NCAA tournament and played UNC first round. That was sadly the last time that went. So I’m vested.

It’s interesting that you discuss Jake Garcia but not Katin Houser. Of course I love both, but it’s fair to argue that Katin Houser will likely be the starter even though the battle is tight between them. Current discussion are that Houser has a very very slight edge on Garcia. Why do you discuss Garcia over Houser in your assessment? Most pirates are expecting Houser to be the starter.

Couldn't find much about who was having more success in the spring but I wasn't much higher on Garcia than Houser. Expected it to be a battle. Either way, ECU's in good hands with the talent around those two

Agreed. Definitely a much improve QB, and the whole offense should see much improved success. I’m sure you’re busy, but if you are able to follow “Hoist the Colors” and/or “94.3 The Game” on KZbin, they have the best updates on the QB situation and current status of the team.

Houser has game experience as he started 7 games at Michigan State last year . Garcia did not play last year at Missouri. But like discussed the competition is tight going into camp . WR Anthony Smith who is a 4.3 guy has turned heads as well as returning CB isaiah Brown Murphy. New OC David Baker proclaimed the OL room as the group he's most excited about with experience returning. I hope he's right ..

Michigan state fan here - Houser deserves the best. They fired the entire coaching staff after the season ended. They put Houser in a bad offensive scheme and a terrible offensive line. I hope it works out for him!
