The 1999 season special to me during my time at ECU. With hurricane Floyd causing so many problems in the area, everyone rallied around that comeback vs Miami. What a season.

I agree, the video needs to start in 1975 when Pat Dye's Pirates first beat UNC 38-17, then the 8 and 3, 1983 Season when ECU went national under Ed Emory, losing only to Florida State by 1 (eventual Peach Bowl Champion over UNC), #6 Florida by 7 and #5 Miami by 6 (eventual National Champion) plus victories over NC State, Missouri (then Big 8, now SEC) and Temple.

Im from Los Angeles, so i have no real buisness liking ECU. About a decade ago i remember wahtching them on national tv.... and they were fun to watch. But what happened to them?.... havent heard nor seen much of them recently....

ECU made some noise and won CUSA back to back around that time, beat Boise St the year before that so that's when ESPN coverage was at its peak. After our HC left our defense struggled while the offense started putting up big numbers. Won a few big games and competed against others, but haven't been able to reach that level of success again consistently. Last season was the first under yet another HC, hoping with some transferred players and a god recruiting class that this year will be vastly improved.

ECU’s decline began with Lincoln Riley leaving for OKlahoma, Kurt Benkurt tearing his ACL a week before the first game of his senior season, and the firing of Ruffin McNeal shortly after. Also, the early retirement of Terry Holland, followed by the hiring of the current AD, Jeff Compher, did no more than expedite the process.

Ruffin and Lincoln are fantastic coaches glad to have them both at Oklahoma now. ECU is gonna go up! Y'alls 2018 unis are gorgeous

The hiring of Duke offensive coordinator Scottie Montgomery was a disastrous decision. His lack of head coaching experience and inability to hire a veteran staff led to a dismal record of 3-9 for 3 consecutive seasons. The problem has been rectified however by the hiring of Mike Houston from James Madison where he won a national title. He's done nothing but win big at prior stops in NC, SC & VA. He's going to have ECU back to winning sooner than later. Recruiting has really taken off thanks his veteran and dedicated staff.

A few years ago it was like they were on ESPNU all the time. Now they stuck them on ESPN+ and nobody watches thad. Mike Houston is only in his second year coach but he had a good program at South Carolina. He's building a program in Greenville.
