If its up to date WiTech will not have a flash available. And at most dealers thats where the flat rate tech will stop and back the truck out

How’d you learn about module repair? I have been curious about dabbling and have access to ecu’s, and other modules but as far as diagnosing what’s wrong and learning what does what is kinda hard to find in the huge internet world

Little by little honestly. I would start with a known problem and just research the circuits controlling that problem every step of the way, component by component while tracing it out. I also read and studied a lot about basic electronics in general which is much easier to find then trying to find auto specific stuff. Electronics themselves are all pretty much the same so what you learn from just basic electronics transfers over to automotive stuff. I spent a lot of time just learning at the beginning rather then actually fixing stuff. Still study and learn everyday these days as well.

I tried using legacy on a 2015 ram with a 6.7 and it wouldn’t let me flash. Kept giving me an error and saying couldn’t retrieve part number. I don’t know if it was because it’s on the truck.

Maybe just an id problem? Did you verify what the part number is currently and that its in the flpart file correctly?

@@ecurepair I got the file straight from stellantisiop. It’s a legit file for the ecm I had by vin. The only thing I can think of is it being a witech2 only vehicle. Witech2 flashed it no problem with my mdp

​@@ecurepairit's likely not an id problem. Alot of tuning changes the original calibration file and sometimes ecm part number. Spartan tuners were known for this.

@@shawncd1 I was trying to say to check the calibration ID with scanner and make sure it was listed in the flpart file correctly but it was late and didnt come out right. Since like you mention, tuning sometimes changed the cal id. It would then be a ID issue of why legacy tool is not updating. But, not being able to retrieve id error I guess is more along the lines of not connecting. Legacy tool is weird though, Its pretty limited in the errors it gives you so its best to check the basic things first.

Could i pay you to help me put 2021 ram 2450 out of boot rom mode and flash it stock? My customer let his kid try and put an HPtuners on it, and the hptuners erased the stock file and failed the flash. Now it's stuck in rom boot, and the guy can't afford a new ecu because his family has health issues. Could i purchase a used one and send it to you to flash stock if you can't fix the original bricked one?

quick question i have a 2010 trying to flash with both flash app and witech 2.0 but flash process fails and im unable to get ecu calibration id or vin from it what direction would u recommend a guy chasing down ? thanks!

Use something like autel to try and connect by manual selection (not auto or vin search), then check ecu information. It could be programming ID is corrupted.

i suspect it is i tried with a snapon scanner manual id and my cardaq with gittio scanner and neither will give me vin or id @@ecurepair
