I did this work from 1981 till 1999..shiny metal balls on the semiconductors means a 98 percent chance it overheated, exceeded current, then you would find an internal open or short. Usually open. Smell that mosfet

found this video trying to figure out repairs to my ECM that had been soaked with oil from leaking injector wiring. wound up sending my ECM in to keyworks. very affordable repair pricing - mine was too roasted to repair (wasn't surprised, oil was dripping out of the plugs when i pulled it) but he hooked me up with a replacement for a good price. he was responsive and I got a quick turnaround. highly recommend.

If it over heated, I wonder if coolant splashed all over it. I looked up online of location of ecm on 2006 Dodge Ram Cummings. They say it's right side of engine comartment by the wheel well. So I guess it's possible.

Good job sir I work in laptop maintenance, and I often receive a car control unit, but I refuse it because I cannot find diagrams for it. My question to you is where can I find diagrams for the internal circuits, even just one diagram to train on?

there are none available really. you have to make your own records and schematics for the internal circuits.

Very frustrating isnt it? You can slowly build your own library of info but you cannot find actual schematics. It takes a much better technician to work blind..

Can you replace the zener diode with a tubular style one with the same ratings if the factory one fails or does it need to have more then two connection points? Thanks

@@ecurepairreplaced diode checked for short circuit before closing up computer installed back in truck and keeps blowing fuses now I’ve got a short when bench testing may have to pull that mosfet to test?

Im currently trying to diagnose a 04' ecm which after dead batteries was jump started and ran until leads removed and with charged batteries now has no communication, engine cranks, but doesnt start. When i supply power to the ecm on my table without ignition switch pin receiving power, i have 0Ma...ignition on i have .0027Ma. So maybe nothing is shorted?...Im not sure what particular areas to check. The obvious variables have been checked leading to ecm removal and investigation. Any help is appreciated and will donate for the guidance. I have a solder station, hot air rework system, transistor/mosfet tester so i am able to do the repair. Thanks!!!

Im not sure what you mean. I just have it open sitting on the table. The vice behind it, if you mean that, thats a panavise (Model: 334).
