Very basic tips for people who suffer from atopic eczema (from a nordic pharmacist): 1. Moisturize your whole body with a basic cream daily (1-2 times). Doing it after a shower is good because it’ll lock in some of the moisture left on the skin from the shower. This prevents flare ups. A basic cream is a cream that doesn’t have added color or fragrance and often has quite simple minimal non-irritating ingredients. 2. If the creams you use hurt your dry skin, meaning if it stings when you put it on, a rule of thumb is: there’s too much water in the cream for that level of dryness. So switch to one with a larger fat/oil/wax content. 3. When you get flare ups get a medicinal ointment (glucocorticosteroids), that’s the first line treatment. I don’t know if hydrocortison cream (1-5%) is sold without prescription in the US but in Europe I think it generally is and it is milder but still helps most people. Always have a break of as long as you’ve used it so if you use it for 1 week, have 1 week break (and do max 2 weeks of use without a break), unless a doctor tells you otherwise, because long term continuous use can absolutely create side effects! Stop using when flare up is gone and continue with basic creams. Using basic creams while using the steroid cream is good too just make sure the medicinal cream is put on first and has had time to be absorbed. If you have actual open/oozing cuts that might be infected don’t use the steroid cream on them on your own, see a doctor (might need an antibiotic cream and steroids on wounds is generally not good) 4. Believe it or not, showering daily is not good for your skin, especially if it’s atopic and dry so unless you’ve been sweating a lot or otherwise visibly dirty, skipping a day of showering is helpful. 5. Another tip for showers is to not always wash your body with regular soap but to wash it with a basic cream (usually they’re higher water content lighter, like max 20% fat content creams with glycerol, that work for this purpose, it’s hard to give good advice on product since every county has different products. In my country we often bathe babies with a cream instead of any soap :)) Bonus tip: be careful not to get steroid creams in to your eyes, may cause eye pressure to go up. A bonus fact! Atopic eczema is often associated with allergies and asthma, they’re all autoimmune conditions and also often hereditary. These recommendations are mainly based on treatment recommendations in my country, different countries may vary, and the best thing is to always talk to a local health care professional :) (if anyone ever even reads this comment never mind all the way til the end)

@@monicapareja9873 Well yeah, but my point was that if you've managed to "get rid of it" with just vaseline and aveeno it was either *extremely* mild or it just straight up wasn't eczema. I feel like a lot of people just assume dry, irritated skin is ezcema just because it's itchy. I just don't like Hyram claiming it's something you can just yeet that easily, especially when I've seen several people in this comment sections saying they're going to ditch their prescriptions over this. Hyram is not a doctor and has no business claiming he can cure an autoimmune disorder 😒

As someone battling with eczema for over two decades I completely agree with you. Also, unless I am mistaken, Hyram has never shown us a picture of him actually having eczema so for all we know he could be lying about even having eczema just to get the views of people who are desperately trying to find ways to contain it. In this video he said he had really bad eczema...where? People who actually have really bad eczema don't just have clear skin while trying hundreds of new products.

About a month ago, I went to hiking for 6 miles, really exhausted, and found out my skin not itchy for few days. A week later I took another 6 miles hike over a mountain and extremely exhausted, It worked wonder that my skin not itchy anymore and eczema was gone a week later. It seems I need to burn out all my energy inside my body, reset, that is the cure. Now I hike at least 6miles every week, eczema not coming back!

Hyram, I really appreciate the video but eczema doesn’t go away. People grow OUT of eczema from childhood, but it never goes away. Eczema is not just dry skin- it’s when the skin doesn’t hold moisture well, like a sponge that doesn’t work. People need to understand that you can treat it but it is always with you. You can’t fix it. This is something I and many other people will deal with from cradle to grave.

I always thought I had mild eczema but the more I see people discuss it online I think I would classify mine as severe. Thankfully I have never had flare ups on my face but have struggled with them on my hands, back of the knees, wrists, and top of the foot for more than 20 years. The cracking and bleeding I experience comes from me scratching the heck out of it and tearing my skin up as it itches like you wouldn't believe. I didn't know that not everyone with eczema experiences the terrible itching. I do use prescription medications when it gets out of control and they do work for me but it will always come back eventually. I use highly moisturizing fragrance free products and they do help too. It's just a chronic condition that I'll likely struggle with all of my life.

My KZbin is glitching and my response isn’t posting I just wanna give you advice 😭 Ok I’m gonna paste it in this comment as an edit and hope it works Ok body acne let’s go: 1. Wash with a pH balanced body wash like CeraVes body wash ($10) or Nécessaire has a great but expensive body wash ($20) also if you havee to use a bar soap use the Aveeno moisturizing oat bar ($3) Note: Use warm water; wash hair, then body in order to clean off any shampoo or conditioner that could be left on your body and cause any irritation or issues 2. Use a leave on chemical exfoliant like the Naturium 2% liquid exfoliant BHA ($20) or the Paulas choice 2% BHA ($20-$25) or the SomeByMi 30 day miracle toner AHA BHA PHA ($16) 3. Then moisturize with the Neutrogena hydro boost body gel cream moisturizer it’s the perfect body moisturizer that seals in moisture and hydration but also doesn’t feel thick at all it feels like the perfect amount of restored hydration and like there’s nothing there after it absorbs except for hydrated skin ($8-$10) Note: Don’t let your skin dry out; use your towel quick and while your skin is still damp apply exfoliant, give it a minute to absorb and while that is still moist apply moisturizer to lock in the exfoliant and hydration Ayo no more body acne 😎🥳

@@keegan1777 agree but I actually love to use the ordinary glycolic acid for exfoliation. Glycolic acid is known as the strongest chemical exfoliant, which is good for your body because it can handle a lot more. Plus it is so much cheaper and comes in a giant bottle, so it lasts forever even if you use it on your whole body :)
@keegan1777
@keegan1777 3 жыл бұрын
@@alllamalala9903 Yeah that’s a great product I’m glad it works for you! I was recommending BHA because I have found it to be better for exfoliation with bacne due to the nature and characteristics of bacne (a lot of blackheads and large swollen red pimples and also large white pus filled ones I know gross all of us in this reply section r dealing with it anyways so it’s fine lmao, but BHA actually goes into your pours and helps with this specific skin concern, while AHA exfoliâtes mainly on the surface so it would help with renewing all the skin cells that are causing the pimples and blackheads but wouldn’t target them directly. Honestly an AHA BHA combination might actually work best) but if AHA works for you keep doing what you’re doing. Sometimes personal experiences prove to work better than the science on paper or someone else’s experiences so if AHA helps you please keep on using it lol I dont wanna discourage something that works for you I just wanted to give my perspective and how I understand it and my experiences haha now this response is way too long ok anyways that’s all I’ll go

Only this year it started clearing up but my doctor said i have the most severe case he’s ever seen, for anyone really struggling I recommend oatmeal baths and use a thick moisturizer such as aquaphor. I found this really helped add the extra moisture that my skin was missing. Also cutting down on dairy products can also help as they’re quite inflammatory for people who suffer from eczema. It isn’t the best when I travel, but it definitely helped more than the others did probably because it’s a bit heavier than others but it’s not greasy so it won’t clog your pores and produce oil. I tried to avoid as many things that could have them. I switched my feather pillow into a normal one, I cleaned my matras and gave my room a big, big clean out! And my eczema has been getting wayyy beter! So eczema can also arise from allergies! So if you struggle with eczema try to think of something you can be allergic to. That can be dairy or dust mite or whatever! I hope this was helpful to the person who read this have a great day!

I've struggled with severe eczema and allergies my whole life and I 100% back up Vanicream. It was recommended by my allergist and it was the first moisturizer I found that would not break me out and would help soothe the eczema on my face and body. Allergy shots also really helped my eczema. I also, highly recommend that you go and get your gut checked out by a doctor too. Eczema commonly is a sign of gut issues. My daughter used to have bad eczema too but we had her gut tested by a doctor and found out she had a lot of inflammation. We put her on a prebiotic, probiotic and some fish oils and now she rarely has an eczema breakout.

I used the process of elimination to figure out that my eczema was triggered by Dairy and the Corn Protein (High Fructose Corn , Corn Starch , etc.). Different people have a problem with different foods (Soy protein , wheat , etc.). Look at the food labels on your food. The foods that you crave the most may be triggering your eczema problem (and other problems as well). The more variety in your diet the better. If you are eating a lot of processed foods you are not getting a lot of variety in your diet. The same ingredients are on the food labels (corn this , soy that). I also drink Nettles tea. Mainstream medicine only wants to treat your problems with a prescription. Mainstream medicine was corrupted by John D. Rockefeller , Andrew Carnegie , and Abraham Flexner. Google those names. I see a Doctor in Integrative Medicine for my health problems (acam.org).

I have struggled with eczema since BIRTH... My derm said i will probably never get rid of it, just make it less bad. Here are things that helped my skin get a lot better: 1. Don't cleanse your face in the morning since you already wake up with dried out skin. Just rinse with lukewarm water and put on a moisturizer and sunscreen. 2. Keep your skincare routine at a BARE MINIMUM. I know this is hard for skin care enthousiasts but since our skinbarrier is compromised, using a lot of products can really aggrevate your skin. Also, exfoliate the skin only once a week with a gentle exfoliant like 5% lactic acid or urea. Since i cut down my skin care routine to only cleansing (evening), a hydrating serum (evening), moisturizer and SPF (morning), my skin is less aggrevated. 3. Use a very gentle face cleanser like the La roche Posay Toleraine cleanser. 4. As Hyram already mentioned, cut out fragrance in your skin care. 5. For the body, use a very gentle soap-free, fragrance-free body wash like the Eucerin body washes or use shower oils and only wash your armpits with a gentle body wash. 6. Use a thick body cream after showering. The Eucerin Urea body cream saved my life. I heard it's not available in the US but you can order it on European online farmacies that ship worldwide like Vicnic 7. Take fish-oil supplements (Omega-3). The fatty acids help your skin retain moisture. 8. Get a hydrocortisone cream from your derm to use on itching areas. 9. Make-up can indeed have irritating ingredients but i also don't want to cut out make-up completely. So if you want to use make-up, search for products that are really eczema friendly. I use the NYX Bare with me Tinted skin veil. Guys, the ingredientlist is basically a moisturizer!! It has been soooo gentle on my skin, i really recommend it. No fragrance, no drying alcohols, EU-allergen free and it has some soothing ingredients like cucumber extract and aloe. 10. I know everyone in the skin care community HATES coconut oil, but for us people with severe eczema DON'T BE AFRAID TO USE IT. When the eczema on my face gets really bad, i use a layer of coconut oil on my face after moisturizer in the evening. It really really helps with softening the dry patches and itching. I stopped using coconut oil because of skinfluencers online, and my eczema got really bad for a while. I went back to using it and my skin got a lot better. So don't be afraid to use it if you have really dry skin!! I hope this will help someone

So I've been struggling with it much longer than I ever thought. I honestly thought it was typical dry skin, until I had a massive outbreak a couple summers ago. My hands, neck, face were so incredibly dry/cracking and it almost looked as though I had water blisters... I actually had to take time off work. I've worked hard on finding a simple skin routine so far this is what has worked for me, but im still fine-tuning it... 1. Aveeno eczema helps *no it hasn't cured my skin* 2. I stopped using drugstore moisturizers on my face... keeping it simple with rosehip oil and that has helped a lot. 3. No fragrance in my face skincare 4. No fragrance deodorant 5. No makeup 6. Goats milk bared soap only Struggling with the concept of no more hot showers and i am having a really hard time finding laundry detergent that doesn't irritate my skin.

Recovering from eczema is a long process, and for me, it’s unfortunately something that won’t go away any time soon. Think of the healing process in layers: first, you’ve got to make sure your environment is not making you prone to eczema. Switch to fragrance-free hand soap, fragrance free detergent, softener and even dryer sheets! I’ve personally found that what makes the biggest difference for me was switching from liquid body wash to a simple, unscented, Aveeno bar soap for when I shower. I definitely could switch to a fragrance free shampoo/conditioner, but my asian hair needs a lot of love haha. Second, layer yourself with whatever prescription steroids and creams necessary to protect yourself from trans-epidermal water loss. Obviously, follow your dermatologist’s instructions when it comes to steroid creams, because overuse of those can do more damage than good. But if you do use a steroid cream, put that on your problem spots first, and then moisturize your body with a fragrance free body lotion. I use the Aveeno body lotion for super dry skin (in the blue bottle!). Finally, I use the Aveeno balm (the $16 one linked in Hyram’s video!) to seal in those problem spots! Eczema is a battle that for some people like me, we can’t win. We’ll have some good days and some bad days, but it’s important to show your skin some love by taking the steps to ensure that you’re protected in the best way you can! I’ve also seen that my mental health directly affects when my flare ups happen. It may seem like when you flare up, you’ve lost all progress you’ve made up until then. But don’t lose hope, you’re doing great!

Thank you for doing this video I know I’ve commented a couple times asking about eczema. All the information you have was stuff I’ve heard a hundred times but it’s good to educate most who have no idea about eczema. I suffer from this on the face pretty severely. I started phototherapy a couple weeks ago which hasn’t helped yet. But also for anyone who has sever eczema you should look into topical steroid withdrawal if you’ve used steroids for a long period of time. It can sometimes present itself as severe eczema aswell, just wanted to put that out there for people who aren’t aware. I’ll be going to buy the cerave healing ointment to try it out.
