Ed worked out at my gym in Manteca, California in his last years. He also lived in Manteca. I have photos of us working out together. Even after multiple heart-attacks he continued to come back to the gym (against Doctor's orders) and do Dumbell Kickbacks from the END of the rack. I wish I could post photos here ~ we got to spend a lot of time together just prior to his passing. He was very young at heart.... literally ALL of the time. Super cool dude. You could sit down with him, Google his name, click on "images" and he could tell you where he was and when the event was.... with literally hundreds and hundreds of photos. The things he told me about Arnold were incredible. As a matter of fact, Arnold would call Ed once a year just to see how Ed was doing. He wouldn't talk on the phone, he would just wait to hear Ed's voice. This is what Ed told me when he was 82. Ed was supposed to star in Franco's place in "Pumping Iron" but Ed wanted to play with the women and goof around too much, so they put Franco in there.....but they still wanted Ed as much as they could get him. The famous photo of him and Arnold sitting on the bench together... Arnold with his hands out like he was explaining something or describing something to Ed.. what Arnold said to Ed (according to Ed) was: "Do you wanna workout or do you want to work out?" Ed had so many cool, cool stories about his life. We met originally at a gas station, both of us driving Black Corvettes. Ed's Vette was much older than mine and so was Ed, but when we hit the freeway, we were neck to neck.. him in his Black C4, me in my C5Z06. Ed had no fear... no matter how old he got. He wasn't afraid to die and the heart-attacks didn't scare him. He was really something.

I studied Ed's posing before I ever went on stage, even for my 1st show. I credit Ed Corney for all the credit & recognition I was giving for my performances as best poser. It was his technique I used on stage throughout my career. I ALSO....would like to send my Congratulations to the CHAMP as has just been "Inducted" in the Bodybuilding Hall of Fame, Labor Day 2015! CONGRATULATIONS Eddie!

Al tho ed didn't had the best body, with his posing he hid all his weak points. He was holding his pose for atleast 5 seconds! And nowadays nobody can even hold it for 2seconds

Ed Corney is the best poser in all of Bodybuilding. He just had something that no one else had. Even Arnold said of Ed, "now that is posing". All bodybuilders should study Ed to understand the "flow of the craft".

This is why it's called the golden era. This routine inspired me when I competed in the 1980s. In fact I stole most of this routine to the vocal Kenny Rogers version an I won best presentation at a show in 1984. Happy days.

When someone asks "what is bodybuilding?" Show them this. It epitomizes the beauty of the human form at its peak, as the sport was intended to do. Corney is a class act.

I have been participating in and following bodybuilding since the late 70's. To this day, Ed Corney and Mohamed Makkawy are the only bodybuilders whose posing routines still give me chills. Pure art. RIP and God bless sir.
