I left New Orleans in 1997 stay five months and had two jobs and still could not make a decent living and this was before Katrina. I am so glad I never want back.

The most amazing thing about the homeless is the community they build with each other. They don't fight each other all day like people think. They don't sit around feeling sorry for themselves, they just made do with what they have. I simply cannot understand these people who are so hostile towards the homeless.

Why on earth would the Mission charge $5 to sleep overnight? That's crazy. They should open the doors to anyone in need. Also, it's sad that you can be arrested for sleeping outside. I feel so bad for the homeless. They have such limited options. God bless Ed. He has a good heart.
@Aethelbeorn4 жыл бұрын
It takes money to keep things open. $5 is not alot but when pan handling is illegal it's obscene.

But America is so special. We have the Reserve currency of the world! We cannot tolerate any aberrations. And thus the homeless ppl are tossed aside.

I despise the place I work at, hate going there every day and would love to quit today, but atm I can't find anything else so I'm stuck there. I see from this, no matter how much I hate this place I work at, if I don't have a plan B I could end up like this

To sleep at the mission it's $5 a night. $150 a month.. Some mission charge $300 a month to eat at the soup kitchen.. Pretty soon, your going to be charged to shower $???????

These people usually panhandle much more than $5 a day. They will have more than enough to get in the mission if they stop spending money on liquor.

Cities should really start employing the homeless, but I guess the harsh reality is some people probably don't want to work past a $20 bill.

@Anonymous 2020 not really true, many just want heroin or alcohol.. Deep down the root of their addictions is almost always lack of connection or love from their father , unresolved emotional trauma or mental illness

@bwc3821 Inner insecurities are in some people brought forward when faced with a homeless person, breaking the illusion for what they want a perfect World to look like. Also people like to think themselves "better" than others. Equality is in the aspect of the unconsious mind, that controls our feelings a foreign term.

@TheStockDayTrader As insensitive as it sounds, I would have to agree. At 61, this guy should have already had a retirement savings fund with enough cash to get him through the next 20 years. With his apparent education, this should not have been a problem.

InvisiMan a lot of people don’t think that way. It’s why I stay on my husband about building his IRA while I build mine. If I died, he would be alright because I’m an extreme saver. If he died, I would be screwed.
