Hi Gabby , Good Morning 😀 Hey , I'm leaving in 20 min but Gabby not without before saying that this lesson is AMAZING 😀 ! You're an inspiration 😍 These lessons have maiden my days , ( Was it correct Gabby ? ) I used the expression flexing its structure to the past Ok even though I'm on a hurry , I wanna use one example with the word CORRECT , it ends in T , so as you said Gabby , the past of it is ED , I think so 😂 I loved to learn the expression WASHING MY HANDS OF GOSSIP , maybe I wrote wrong I don't have enough time to check it right now but , Gabby , it's a similar Brazilian expression And just between us it was taken from the Bible ❣️ ... Matthew 27, 24 ► Realizing Pilate who could not demolish the people, but , on the contrary , a beginning of turmoil was already visible , he ordered them to bring water , WASHED HIS HANDS before the crowd and exclaimed: “I am innocent of the blood of this righteous man. ! ( He was speaking about Jesus Christ , Pilate knew that Jesus was innocent but , He preferred to WASH HIS HANDS than to make justice , He avoided ... as you said LOL ) Gabby , I used this example because I think this famious expression was taken from the Holy Bible He took water and WASHED his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this man Hey Gabby , thanks for this lesson , I loved it for sure ❣️ I was well succeed on the Quiz , flawless , your explaining was SUPERB 😍

Nice video. However, this is the first time I've seen someone refer to the 1st category as /ed/ sounding. I've always pronounced it as /id/. For example I "decided", or I "created" would have an /id/ ending, not an /ed/ one. Maybe it's a regional thing in the USA?

Ragged and blessed - two words where the -ed is still commonly pronounced despite modern conventions. Bless-ed as adjective, blessed as verb. I have actually never heard ragged spoken other than rag-ged, despite the similar word nagged (although again, nagged is a verb and ragged is an adjective).

Some ed may have sound silent. Like when saying married. I try to make a D sound way the end but people think I'm saying to the present tense.

Gabby, what happens to the -ED verb endings in these examples: I watched the movie, I liked the movie, I passed the test, I finished my homework. Are they really pronounced? I feel as if natives drop those sounds sometimes in those examples. For example, "iced tea" sounds like "ice tea".
@GoNaturalEnglishLessons4 жыл бұрын
Yes, they are pronounced. However if someone is a bit lazy in their pronunciation, it might sound like it's no different than the present tense.
