I am shook by this episode! I really really hope to chat with you sometime, Dr. Barnhart! (Ed!) About your origin story and our shared experiences studying archaeology at CU Boulder 6 years apart, and taking the Maya Civilization course with Payson Sheets! Even down to washing dishes at Sewell Hall!! Also the fact that you've lived how I wish my schooling and archaeology dreams had gone, but so far have been stopped by a head-on collision, unintentionally becoming a dad, and other things. Maybe you could give me a hand! At the least, can we grab a beer? 😁 I'll try to find your email address or something.

I am surprised that the scarlet macaws were common at Copan even back then. When I visited that site in 2013, I was told that most of them came from the nearby rescue at Macaw Mountain Bird Park and released there into the semi-wild/semi-protected area of the archaeological park, because during their rehabilitation they loose their fear of humans. Was this already the case back in 1990 or did someone tell me a wrong story?

They were rescues back then too. Mascots of the site.
