Personally in terms of creaitivty and trying out new sounds I think that Linkin Park definitely opened the door but Bring Me The Horizon is definitely embracing the creaitity in terms of styles and collebrations.

I’ve seen a lot of online hate over Ollies performance since last night - people saying he wasn’t very good and BMTH have sold themselves out by appearing alongside a ‘pop singer’ - these so called ‘fans’ of a genre that I love really don’t realise how important performances like this are. I can’t remember a time when any rock/metal artists even appeared on the Brit Awards let alone won an actual award (the rock category is questionable) and never watch it for that reason. If it gets more people listening and liking then I’m all for it. Thank you Ed, thank you BMTH 🤘🏻
@nikkid79632 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen a lot of hate out there too. If they came out and didn’t go full blown Oli, I may have agreed. However, Oli did Oli, IMO that’s not selling out. I’m not a fan of Ed Sheeren, but BMTH made this song great. Though, I have never heard the actual song before. Also, Oli’s voice has gotten soooo good.
@198clm2 жыл бұрын
@@nikkid7963 I can’t not like Ed - he literally lives ten minutes down the road from me so he’s a bit of a local hero. That said I don’t regularly listen to his music. Anyone who says BMTH are ‘pop’ obviously haven’t been listening…….far too many elitists who give the rest of us a bad name.
@nikkid79632 жыл бұрын
@@198clm I get it, Taylor Swift used to live near me. She was the same a local hero. However, I just never liked pop. Hmmm… Bring Me did go pretty pop on amo. However, they’ve done a lot since then that hasn’t really been pop. But, I can see why people in the metalcore scene think they’re pop. I hate the amo album, but love everything else they’ve done. With the exception of their old death metal. But I love everything since suicide season. Except amo.
@198clm2 жыл бұрын
@@nikkid7963 I’m exactly the same - I didn’t listen to them for quite a while, then have since Post Human came out. They’re certainly not my favourite band and I don’t listen to them regularly- but regardless of that it’s still great to see someone like them performing on national UK television :)

Ed Sheeran has said for years in interviews that he grew up listening to everything from "Metallica to Cradle of Filth", and even learned to play Cradle of Filth songs on guitar. Dani from CoF has even talked with Ed about possible future collaborations.

#SheeranCore? I lost any sense of obligation I may ever have felt to disdain Sheeran after I saw him in that godawful "Yesterday" movie a couple years ago. The dude is 100% self-aware and by everything I've seen is having as much fun as is humanly possible with his fame. Don't generally like his music but I can't dislike Ed himself. And he does actually sound really good here.

I generally like Ed Sheeran. More his old live shows where it was just him and a loop station than his studio recordings, but he’s a talented songwriter. But everything I’ve heard from his newest album has been completely boring and forgettable. This is... honestly still kinda boring, but the closest he’s come to not sounding boring since the new album dropped.
