I lost my mum 16 years ago when I was 12. This song came on the radio the other day while I was driving. I'd never heard it before and I had to pull over because I was crying so hard. I've never heard a song that so perfectly describes that hole that remains no matter how much time passes. I don't think of my mum every day, I don't miss her every day. I lead a great life and I'm truly happy, but there are always these moments I want to share with her, people I'd love to introduce to her, moments I want her advice and things I miss. That will never go away and this song and Ed's voice delivering it is the musical embodiment of that ache I feel, whenever I miss her. I'm so sorry for your loss. I agree 100%. I lost my mom 7 yrs ago, dad 6 ys ago, brother 1 tr ago to Covid, and cousin 8 months ago to Cancer & Covid 8 months. We lift each other up, by sharing and supporting our Journeys through grief. It's lifelong, I believe, as grief is a form of love. We never stop loving those who have gone before us. I know exactly how you feel man, I’m only 19 and I don’t normally talk about this but here goes. I don’t have any parents and it’s an uphill battle every day because one minute your okay dealing with it and the next you feel like you have hit rock bottom. I can relate so much to this song and supermarket flowers because it just describes what I wanna say to them if that makes sense. But we’ll done for getting through the video man, first time actually watching but I will subscribe and like, I just hope everyone doesn’t act like they know how it feels when they lose something if it hasn’t happened before, like honestly it sucks but you gotta love with it and show them that you can do it I guess, thanks man

Beautiful song !! "Bill Byerly" my grandpa passed June 27th of 2021. In the last couple months of his life, he was sick and in a lot of pain. He was in and out of the hospital. Therefore, I wasn't around very much because it was too hard for me emotionally. And with me living in Minnesota, him in Colorado, that didn't help. But I would give ANYTHING to have those "visiting hours" 😢💔 That one last chance to sit and talk with him. To tell him how much I love him. Going forward, I will spend the rest of my life, making sure that when he looks down he is proud of me. Proud of the man that he helped make me. I was closer to him than I ever have been my own Dad. Can't help but cry to this beautiful tribute. He wrote it for his friend Michael Gudinski, who in many ways was a father figure to him as well as a massive help in his musical career. He died this year and Ed travelled to Australia to sing this song at his tribute concert. It's on youtube. It's the most heart wrenching performance I've ever watched. You should look it up. The references to "her" at the start are about his new born daughter as well.

My dad died of brain cancer in Feb 2008 and I still wish he was here so I could get his advice. A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and will start chemo, myself, on Thursday and I'm doing my best to stay positive for myself and my kids but man, I could really use his advice and support.
