Totally agree with you, Kevin. Song comparisons gotta be broken down theoretically - rhythm, key, harmonica - fundamentally different. Also, there is NO original thought - there are original blends of musical ideas and sounds, and original arrangements to me - but we all borrow from the same tonalities western - or eastern. The unfortunate thing about this whole lawsuit is that the Marvin Gaye side already won in a lawsuit against Pharrell Williams. That set a very dangerous precedent. The troll already won once. Hope they lose this one.

This lawsuit against Ed Sheeran is absolutely ridiculous. Maybe it's a bit of inspiration, but I have always believed throughout the length of this crazy nonsense that both songs are distinct, without a shadow of a doubt. I mean, what would the Star Wars films be if John Williams decided not to take inspiration from the orchestral masterminds that revolutionized classical music?
