@grafficsgeek they have a tiny amount on them, but there are few buyers around here. not to mention data security issues associated with selling disks that are not properly wiped.

@daewooparts I shredded about 8 of them, and 245Win caliber. I am keeping NATO standards or old mil-spec stuff (30-06, .30 carbine, 45ACP etc)

i have a good idea, computer moniters have those sheets of plexiglass, use those to completely cover the top of the shredder but you can still see the destruction

Have you considered reclaiming the gold and other precious metals in the electronic waste? It seems like you get quite a bit. I've seen it written that electronic waste has about 2 oz gold per ton of circuit boards, as well as silver and other precious metals. Two oz gold is now worth about US$ 3500. Just asking...

@Aussie50 i try to seperate everything ,but i get the steel out by using the magnets recovered from the HDD's those are strong ,in korea we shred our defective and claims HID ballast that don't get rebuilt ,lots of aluminum and copper in them,especially the older ones,out homemade shredder works good as well as a modded meat grinder , one of my friends in korea who is in the scrap business that recycles lots of computers actually got real shredders from SSI.i want to get a used muffinmonster

you should take a small worling hard drive, connect it to a working pc install linux on it it. then bring everything outside to the shredder an throw the hardrive into the shredder while the computer is on. or you could throw a old working laptop to it.
