Whatever generic paper shredder we have at my internship has a metal gearbox and a stupidly powerful motor. That thing will eat through floppy disks, two CDs stacked together, or basically a whole notebook's worth of paper without even struggling.

I have been using the plastics granulator for yard waste shredding, I just made a side feeder on it, works really well!

One thing that you forgot to try in this......A sheet of paper. I think we could start a paper-shredder drag race. The name of the game would be to see who can achieve the highest MPH of a piece of paper going through the shredder. I'd say that a piece of paper going through this shredder could easily do 40 MPH. If you want to make chocolate birdshot, you shouldn't cast it, but dribble drops of melted chocolate into cold water, or from a great height (like they do with lead shot).

uxwbill, he was using a drill to drive the shredder. Standard papershredders can easily shred paper, and the drill had NO problem chewing paper. It stalled on thick tough plastic, that would probably kill a standard shredders motor.

I noticed that the teeth were drawing things nearer to the camera, perhaps adding a removeable cone/wedge that things would be drawn against to prevent things from bouncing out. alt, a presser foot made from an old BBQ or oven rack that can drop down over the whole thing while safely allowing observation.

You should set up some sort of hydraulic or worm gear driven plate to force the objects in, also, try to make the surround more hopper-shaped, so if it jumps out, it had nowhere to go but back in

You should try having a gas flame heating the blades from underneath so they soften the objects that are two big and then it will spit gooey remains of the objects haha it could be pretty cool :)

In order to make a successful shred you need power greater than 18 volts. Also spinning the shredder blades too fast will not make much effort as the scrap will just bounce off the spikes of the blades and the spikes will not hook on to the scrap. You gotta be slow and powerful.
