Great job on the restoration. I purchase pipes the same way. One particular pipe will stand out to me above the rest and speak to me.

Ed is sweet! I love it. The shape, grain, and stem set it off for me. That stem is cool. 😎👍

@@jespiping Man, the balance of this pipe is awesome. That stem is featherweight and it basically feels like I'm just clenching a bowl in air.

Man that's an awesome pipe, I've also been intrigued by clear stems for the same reason (wondered if you could see the smoke). It's a bummer you had a few trials with the stain, but I'm glad it's at a place where you can still appreciate it. My Chacom Noel reacts similarly to light, being very dark, but taking on a deep burgundy when in direct light, and I love that quality of it, so I hope you enjoy the changing color of your own.

@@LeafStem317 It turns out that you can't really see the smoke flowing through the stem because it moves so fast (maybe on a longer stem you'd be able to?). But the thing cleans up easily and nearly always looks pristine. I love it, man.

Good to see ya. I’m digging the clear steam, the gold stamp on it seals the deal, looks smart. That thing looks brand new. restoring pipes gots to be peanuts compared to carburetor restoration. carburetor restoration is an impressive skill to have.

@@TheLeagueOfTheKeeprsOfTheBriar Nice to see you, too, man! Love what you've been putting out. Most people hate carb work because it's so tedious (and you just want to get on with the ride!). I've joked that I must be a masochist because I love the trial and error of it. The reward can be great. Carbs must meet extremely tight tolerances; your window of error is very small but you can use all kinds of harsh chemicals and rough tools to achieve the goal. On the other hand, pipes have wide tolerances but must be handled with their fragility in mind. It's an interesting comparison for me. I get the impression you are also a gearhead at heart. You'd probably dig carbs!
@TheLeagueOfTheKeeprsOfTheBriar3 ай бұрын
@@TheNovicePiper yea exactly, I know next to nothing about carbs but I know some of the high end ones for souped up rides are only a few thousands of an inch in diameters sounds like they can really get gummed up easy and sounds difficult to clean.

Sounds like you are doing well with the cleaning & restoring. Even if it did not turn out exactly like you wanted, you are learning what works and what doesn’t I think the pipe turned out beautiful even though you weren’t able to keep the red rim like you wanted it. Do you watch Tim at The Southland Piper with his restorations also? I use some of the cleaning products that he does and feel like I have gotten good results. The one Restoration fluid is sticky, but it does a good job.

@@carolinarose704 I do keep an eye on his work, it's very interesting (and relaxing to watch). I may reach out to him about a stem oxidation issue I had with a pipe. Will probably do a video on it soon. Couldn't find answers.
