He never got frostbite and he never bragged; he kept his mouth shut and worked hard until he earned a position wherein people asked for his advice, for him to lead, to interview, to speak. He earned his position as one of the greats; he is a living legend.

Can’t believe the derogatory comments, Ed has climbed every +8000m peak on the planet, without supplementary oxygen. That is a phenomenal achievement, the first & only American to accomplish such a feat. That definitely makes him an all-time great American hero. High altitude mountaineering is something that is so incredibly risky, and to complete all 14 of these peaks without serious injury, means that HE IS A LIVING LEGEND!!! ED you’re such an inspiration!!!

Ed Viesturs is a legend, not so much for his climbing record...but for his multiple rescue and saved fellow climbers in need, both from his own party and other expeditions...he abandoned several of his own summit pushes to litterarely save peoples lifes...THAT'S WHY THIS GUY IS A LEGEND. Many other more succesful climbers have climbed over dead bodies and ignored signals of help and assistance from others on the mountains...

He has one of the most impressive and probably the cleanest climbing record in all of mountaineering history.

Ed, never left someone who could be rescued, self-sacrificed to rescue so many people. Never got frostbite, never fell into a crevasse, never lost a team-mate (It helps to have such luminaries as Vekka Gustofson to climb with). Viesturs is the ultimate example of a living legend.

A lot of people are unaware of the fact that Ed Viesturs accompanied me, Luke, Leia and Chewie in liberating the galaxy from the empire a long time ago.

Ed Viesturs one of the all time greats. Not because of what he accomplished, but how he did it all.

He accomplished a huge feat, just because he spaced it out doesn't diminish his super human accomplishments of conquering all 14 8,000M peaks without gas.

You're right. He was only 12th ever to climb all 14 8000ers and 5th ever to do it w/o supplemental oxygen. He is a joke.

And how he did it Cameron (you should realy read more? Did he do it without oxigene? New routes? First to climb? Nono of that. He is only famous because he is first usa to climb them all. And nothing else. In a true sense HE IS NOTHING BUT A THIRD LEAGUE OF ELITE CLIMBERS.
