although in the film you see the change over,it should have mentioned that,T50 is the last signal controlled by three bridges,and VC674 is where victoria takes over the up line,just though i would mention it..

The black diamond is for Cab Secure Radio (CSR). It tells you which area you're in so your radio can be tuned correctly to allow communication with the signallers.

Ah, the Gatwick Express , non stop to Victoria. Be advised that Southern trains take only 3 minutes longer and the fare is less.
@fetchstixRHD

Indeed on the BML the Gatwick Express makes even less sense than Heathrow Express. I don’t think the time saved (or even _lost_ if you aren’t starting from Victoria) is worth it for me and many others
@KasabianFan44
@KasabianFan44 4 жыл бұрын
Some Southern services are only 1 minute slower than GX services. Also, Thameslink services actually reach their first London Terminal station (London Bridge) slightly faster than GX gets to Victoria. And in any case, the time difference really doesn't matter, because the fast-line trains never overtake one another en route anyway. Catching the first fast London-bound train will always get you there quickest no matter what type of train departs first. Gatwick Express is truly pointless as a premium service.

TPWS only applies the brakes on the approach to a red (danger) signal if it thinks you're not going to stop in time. Automatic Train Protection is capable of slowing a train exceeding the speed limit but this is only used on the Great Western Mainline and the Chiltern Line.

I should imagine they would need to know speed limits for a start. No good blasting along at 90mph only to find yourself suddenly going through a 15mph limit.

What is "UP 1 in 350? Is it the grade? Ra sing 1 meter (I'm assuming metric) for 350 meters?
@Rainbowhockey
@Rainbowhockey 7 жыл бұрын
Up/Down X in Y is the gradient rise/drop. X is the number of meters you raise/lower and Y is the number of meters you need to travel to see that rise/fall. So up 1 in 10 would be for every 10 meters forward you go, you go up 1 meter. I think that's the correct way around

As it's a ratio the units don't matter. In fact the railways still measure distances in miles and yards and the speed limits shown are mph, not km/h.

Quite Interesting that the limit on the Brighton line is 90 mph as it seem's there a fair bit of it that look's suitable for 100 mph running. Is there any 100 mph limit on the Brighton line?.

is this from a 442 or 460? Is that a foot crossing at 4:18? Didn't know they had those across four tracks. Interesting that there's a signal inside Quarry Tunnel, don't see too many of those. Stoats Nest Junction, my favourite junction name. After Pouparts Junction.
@jamiesweetland9858
@jamiesweetland9858 5 жыл бұрын
It's a 442, all the hissing you hear is from the automatic air brake. 460s don't have these types of brakes.
@northessexbusphotography54

The foot crossing used to be the busiest foot crossing in the UK, however due to safety concerns (as it was used often by parents walking their children home from a nearby primary school) they replaced it with a footbridge.

It is terrible that Great Britain still use the power supply via the third rail. British people do not think of his great danger to customers and workers in the railways? In Italy this system is prohibited by law since 1955. (Except for the subway line 1 in Milan) In France, this system is used only in the old lines of the Paris Metro. (sorry for google translator)
