A guided hike from Edale to Kinder Scout Downfall in the Peak District..
On this walk we make our way up to the top of Grindslow Knoll and along the south rim of the Kinder plateau towards Kinder Downfall taking in the sights along the way (Crowden Tower, the Woolpacks, Pym Chair, Edale Rocks and Kinder Low)
Kinder Downfall is the tallest waterfall in the Peak District, with a 30-metre (98 ft) fall. The waterfall was formerly known as Kinder Scut, and it is from this that the plateau derives its name. Although usually little more than a trickle in summer, in flood conditions it is impressive. In certain wind conditions (notably when there is a strong westerly wind), the water is blown back on itself, and the resulting cloud of spray can be seen from several miles away.
Total Distance for walk is approximately 18km and takes around 6.5Hrs to complete.
Once you have reached the top of Grindslow Knoll you are rewarded with a magnificent view down into the Edale valley and across towards the Great Ridge and Mam Tor. The walk is mainly flat from here on all the way to Kinder Downfall.
Good strong footwear is recommended along with a compass and map as the weather can change and close in very fast on the top of the plateau leaving you enveloped in low cloud.
Care should be taken if descending via Jacob"s Ladder after rainfall as the rocks underfoot can get very slippery.
This is without doubt a fantastic walk to do on a sunny day with lots of places to stop for a picnic along the way.
I do hope you enjoy the video and it inspires you to get out and give the route a go.
Thanks for watching.
Safe hiking.
Mike :-)
