Again very well thought out brother...Gloves a great addition!! One thing from my experience from natural disasters, cell phones are ok, but not reliable. Not saying don't care it, because it does work, but don't expect to make a call. For example, a local disaster in the area, a major bridge collapsed and and cell service, calling in or out, was overloaded, wouldn't work. But, text messages would go out in time. Just like the Katrina deployment, text messages were the only form of non-sophisticated type of communication, but took roughly 6 hours to receive. Just food for thought. To many people rely on cell phones these days, and don't understand there capabilities. Great video and presentation..

Good job keeping it simple for every day randomness that may come up. Have to second what a previous comment said about additional boo boo supplies, especially when you mention a family of four, good odds you experience more ailments regularly than tylenol will handle. I carry, and recommend; a couple benadryl tabs good will help relieve itchiness and puffiness not only from allergies but also ease itching from bug bites and ivies. A couple anti diarrheal pills, it can be deadly if you're dehydrating faster than rehydrating at least you can attempt to stop the dehydrating from this messy situation. Also i carry some pepto bismol tabs for the acid indigestion, its labeled as multi symtom including anti diarrheal but thats already covered, i just use for upset stomach and heartburn. Bandages i mostly do not carry regular band aids for myself, maybe for the kids. If i need a bandage its going to be for a messy deep wound. I carry a few steri strip wound closures, a few knuckle bandages and a 2 inch gauze, you already have tape. Neosporin or triple anti biotic for those wounds as well. If we add every item that everyone suggest we might as well just skip the edc and go right to the 72 hour bag. I like the absence of three or four knifes in your bag and the basic simplicity. But 1st aid is a biggie, cant help ourselves or anyone else if we are miserable or in pain with no way to ease it. That said, i just need to make it to my car where there is a large stash of supplies, medical, tools, fire starting, shelter.. So my idea of edc is basically in my pockets. But. I put together EDC's for family, in hopes they will have at least the minimum in their car because i told them they better keep what i give them in their car. Its an OCD hobby for me...

Very nice kit and presentation. I like the binoculars idea a lot. Since you mention water is key for survival, and I totally agree, I would recommend having water purification tablets, a life straw, or some type of filter as a backup. One other thing would be a shelter such as a space blanket that can double as a tarp. Again, nice job and awesome bag.

The handkerchief is the most important part of your EDC. It has more uses than everything put together. I feel no matter what sort of EDC or those who do not carry a EDC should still have a handkerchief. Even if it is being used as a piece of fashion, it should still be on every person everywhere.

I absolutely disagree with the statement that multitool quality isn't important. If the bag can fail, the multitool can, too. If you feel you need to carry something, ensure it's going to work. Otherwise, you may be unable to use it, and you can blame the guy who told you it didn't matter what the quality was. ;-) If you survive, anyway. Love everything else, though. Great video.

Save on a bag not on tools yeah. There a a mulitude of fatboy cheap copies - at 8-10 litres capacity it does not gae to be the most rugged pack
@ChrisC308 жыл бұрын
I run a pricey bag, though. So, I guess for me, what matters most is the 'total package'. If you put together everything the way you want it and are satisfied with it, that's what matters most. Anything can break. That's why we carry spares.
@robertthetexan85377 жыл бұрын
Well, because I feel like commenting on every single post you made and disagreeing to some point, I'll disagree again. ;) I would discourage going with a cheap bag. In all honesty, when you're talking about survival or being able to take care of yourself in less than ideal circumstances, you really don't want to cut corners. I see it with guys who buy cheap guns, cheap optics, cheap bags. Buy once, cry once...
@robertthetexan85377 жыл бұрын
Agree Chris. My philosophy is buy once, cry once. There may be areas to cut costs, but I prefer to do that buy buying bulk, or buying an aesthetic "blem" rather than buying a cheap item.

I'm thinking a lot of thought went into that kit and it looks nicely done. I would make a few suggestions though. 1: I like the crank charger, but pack a real charger too you might find power and that is a lot less work, also pack a 12v charger for cars. 2: bring a more durable water container, those puncture easily and leak out in your bag. If you are on a budget I've seen folks on YT using Gatorade bottles but I prefer a 32oz hardwalled container like a guyot or nalgene. 3: all your food is very protein based meaning you will need lots of water to eat it. Bring more fats like cashews rather than peanuts and maybe some trail mix that has dried fruit. 4: include $100 split into a roll of quarters,a $50,a $20, and 20 in $1's you won't be sorry.

Good job on the video. I think EDC"s are like AR's it's a highly personalized experience. So if you are satisfied with what you have, then rock steady. I have a couple of different thoughts on my EDC. I carry one in my truck in a Maxpedition Fatboy, and in my ruck I use for work, I have some EDC kit in there. Most of my kit's based on my experience in the military and life. 1. I try to stay away from beef jerky. Even homemade beef jerky has a lot of salt/sodium in it. In a situation where water resources may be limited, I try not to eat stuff that's going to make me more thirsty if I can help it. Sucks because I love beef jerky. I carry some high energy protein bars. Hydration is life, so I pack something that will gives me extended energy and without the sodium. - I also keep some water purification tabs. Not many, they are small and take up no room. Water is life. 2. Don't go cheap on the multi-tool. Think about it, multitools are the 100 MPH tape of tools. Spend a few bucks and get one that that is good quality. Wire cutters are indispensable. 3. On pain relief, it really does matter. I would not recommend anything other than Tylenol or acetaphetamine. Advil/ibuprofen/naloxone are blood thinners. Last thing you want to take for bleeding trauma is something that's going to thin your blood. All my SOCM bros never pack anything other than Tylenol for that very reason. 4. I think it would be beneficial to have a blood clotting agent. You can get small tubes at a CVS, or a compress treated with a quikclot agent. On that note, I pack at least one TQ, I wouldn't use a zip tie for a TQ unless I absolutely had nothing else.. I say that for a couple of reasons. 1) Zip ties can be hard to see. This is critical especially for medic or EMT to find your tourniquet and so they may not even realize you have a TQ on. Good thing about using a TQ like a CAT, is medics are used to looking for them and you can record DTG on it. You can find good TQ's on Amazon for around $15.00 They are good quality, I use them. Just wrap a rubber band around them. Rather than sticking your mags on that PALS webbing, I'd stick a TQ and a chem light. - - Because it's super thin, I slide a little sheet of moleskin inside that zippered compartment. It stays out of the way, and like your 100 MPH tape, moleskin has a lot of uses besides protecting your feet. Think about if you are with your family and have to "ruck" it out to get home. Not everyone with you may be used to walking a lot or equipped for walking a lot. That reason alone makes moleskin invaluable. Not to mention chest seal, other trauma solutions. 5. I also use my EDC as a conceal carry, which if you are carrying mags on the outside of your bag, you are not concealing but advertising a little too much in my book. I'd either have a mag pouch to put on my belt, or I use a that zippered pocket, and i leave it unzipped if I was in a dicey situation so I would have quick access. You can even use plain velcro straps and make a ad hoc mag holder for inside your Maxpedition Even if it's not a "lights out" situation, you are still better off running low viz. No sense to advertise a a person or group of people, "Hey I have a firearm!" Even in a relatively normal emergency, if you need your EDC, you want to be low key with the goal of getting from A-B without any interruptions. Some people may say, well if I have a gun, no one will mess with me. I think we probably know that's just not the truth. It means they will just get more friends before they mess with you. 6. One more thing you might consider is throwing some cash in your bag. (Did you mention that? I may have missed it if you did.) Paper money and even some coin. I don't carry a lot. I'm talking about enough for emergency gas, water, food. But good job putting the info out there to help others. You did a good job on the video and definitely some good suggestions also.

I will definitely do that. I want to say that info came from the 18D Q course, but I will definitely check.
@robertthetexan85377 жыл бұрын
Ibuprofen is an NSAID and it's a blood thinner. Aleve/Naloxone is a little different and although it can be considered a blood thinner, in fact reduces clotting time. Is that what your comment is directed at? All nitpicking aside, Isn't that the risk of blood thinners? Reduced clotting time of a wound? In an environment where medical help may not be readily available, shouldn't someone be concerned about how quickly a wound clots? The bottom line: As I said, In my kit, be it chest rig or an EDC or a truck kit, I'm going to use a pain reliever that does not inhibit blood clotting. In my house, I have Aleve and Ranger Candy. In the field or out and about, I'd pack Tylenol, because I prefer a pain med that doesn't inhibit blood clotting over the anti-inflammatory properties the NSAID meds have. But that's just me and my people. If you have training that says otherwise, share it.

Someone in the comments already meantioned this, but I figure I would repeat it as it's a fair concern. With the patch, magazines and other assorted things visible on the outside, it could make the bag look interesting to others, it also could potentially give away the fact that you have a weapon. It may not matter overly much but It was a good thought. I'm going to make up something like this to have in my truck or take when I ride my chopper.

Nice kit. A couple of things though. The most used items from my bag seem to come from my boo-boo kit. Assorted band-aids, 2x2 gauze pads, sanitizing wipes, steri-strips for deep lacerations, etc. I've fixed up myself and others on many occasions, and it really takes up no room and weighs nothing. You already have the pain-killers, alcohol, and bandanna. Also, along with my other protection, I carry pepper spray as a non-lethal option. Lastly an emergency blanket is small, light, can keep you dry, or warm up a person in shock among other uses. Just a few suggestions that I carry. Peace.

Zipties cannot be used as tourniquet. Theyre too thin, even the thick ones. Tourniquets should be minimum 2 inches wide. If youre looking for cheap ones buy two inch flat rubbers (also called swat tourniquet - you can get them at ripoff prices but just for few bucks too) the four inch are better but take up double space. Those flat excerise bands should work as well.

I love how practical this one is. Only gripe I have is the trendy paracord bracelet. Has anyone EVER actually broken it to use it? especially just for day to day tasks? Nobody wants to break their cool toy :)

I like the idea of a stuff I might actually use bag instead of a SHTF bag, I would add sun screen and bug repellant also ... much more of a chance I will be out hiking and break a shoestring and use a Ziptie than needing 5 types of fire starters

I totally agree on the energy drink because what if you have a long day and you're totally exhausted and you're about to go to sleep and then catastrophe Strikes? Yeah you'll have some sort of adrenaline rush because it's an emergency but having an energy drink if all the setting you have to start running around is great and if you don't know what kratom is I suggest you research it and order some before it's illegal again. Even if you're super Duper tired and you take so it gives you a feeling of well-being and a blast of energy that is very smooth and lasts for a couple of hours. It works way better than an energy drink for a short blast of energy and it's a pain killer that can replace Vicodin or other opiates in a pinch. Great thing to have for a bug out bag.

Hiya :) I use the same bag as my purse/EDC. Thought that I would share the contents with everyone. I am a truck driver, and so I tend to travel A LOT, and am often times far from home, so my bag has some extras, and I have other gear that supplement it. On the outside, at the bottom of the bag there is a D ring. Attached to that D ring via caribiner is a ball compass. Also attached is a wire camping saw, and a bandana. As you look at the bag, on the left side there is a rectangular zippered pocket with some MOLLE on the outside. The MOLLE is perfict for 2 minimag flashlights, and that's what I have there. the zippered pouch is a great fit for my pair of sunglasses in its sunglass case. There is more room in there, but that's all I put in there. They are prescription sun glasses, On the right side is a magazine pouch. I keep a small tactical flashlight in it, more as a weapon that a flashlight. And I keep a hairbrush there by forcing the handle of the brush in with the flashlight. (Hey, I AM a woman after all...) On the shoulder strap there is a built in clip for keys and such. I have a couple of key rings hanging from it, with various things on them. A small wallet chain, a small metal vial with 2 pairs of ear plugs, a handcuff key, and a small ferro/magnesium rod. There is also some MOLLE at the base of that strap beneath the key clip. to that I have attached several caribiners with various things. Another Ferro rod, with a small folding knife as a striker, hair bands and scunchies, a roll of electrical tape, and a Sparkie ferro rod. yes, I am EXTREMELY redundant when it comes to fire... On the small carrying handle, I have another couple of caribiners attached. they hold house keys, motorcycle keys, car keys, and the keys to my big rig. there is also another Sparkie ferro rod. in the "cell phone pouch", the clipped pouch at the base of the shoulder strap opposite of the key clip and above the magazine pouch, I carry a multi-tool. On the pouch flap, in the outside sippered pocket, I carry a spare set of my dogtags, and some knapkins. Not much fits in this pouch very well it seems. Its great to stuff a receipt into though, or maybe a note of some sort to look at later. I also have a half of a crayon in there. it can be used for writing or as fuel for fire. on the outside non zippered pocket under the flap on the main body of the bag I have more napkins. Hey, remember, woman, its a bitch to pee and not have anything to wipe with. Sometimes I will also put babywipes here, but most packets of them are kinda tall for the pocket making it difficult to close and lock the flap. in the zippered pocket I have my cell phone, eyeglass repair kit, 2 small folding knives, a ciggy lighter, my passport, my checkbook, a copy of my various bills so that I have the info needed to pay them while over the road, a pocket US constitution, and a pocket US road atlas. in the main compartment, I have a pen, and pad of paper. Also I have a small vitamin bottle that contains quarters. Another vitamin bottle contains a fire kit which has another ciggy lighter, some Q-tips, and some vasaline lip balm. I have a small med kit for minor stuff with band aids and alcohol swabs. I have a seatbelt cutter, my wallet, a vial of Dramamine for motion sickness, a bottle of excedrine migraine for my migraines, a small fixed blade full tang survival knife with ferro rod, and a LifeStraw. in the CCW pocket I have a S&W Governor with a laser sight. Its currently loaded with two Winchester PDX1 defense .410 rounds, followed by two .45 ACP hollowpoints, followed by two 45 Long Colt star hollowpoints on the back of the bag is a leg strap. attached to this are 2 pouches for ammo. 10 rounds of those PDX1 rounds, and 10 rounds of the 45 Long Colt. Also attached via caribiner is 50 foot of paracord. YES, this IS my EDC. YES its heavy (20+lbs). But I am fairly well set. I have a tactical belt that I call my "bat belt" that has multiple pouches on it that I can carry things like food rations (lifeboat rations and survival tabs), an EXTENSIVE med kit, and other things. My cell phone has its own spare external battery. its called a Mophie. its basically a battery built into a phone case. its REALLY cool. I also have a spare one of those called an Incipio which does the same thing. between the 2, I have about 15-20 hours of CONTINUOUS phone use, including surfing the net.

very nice edc vid. my only concern would be the 2 gun clips visible on the outside of the bag. Im assuming that it is for fast access, but I would also be concerned about it also making you a target.
@gags3636 жыл бұрын
The only thing i would add to this bag would be is Latex Gloves. Two pair in a sandwich bag sealed. If you ever come across an accident and you have to deal with body fluids. You want at least one layer of protection.

Great vid, nice touch with the zipties and many other bags I have seen don't have carabines or grimlock clips like yours. Only one change and you are good to go: add benzo wipes or solution (the brown liquid that looks like soy sauce, the one doctors use before giving stitches) and a sewing kit for deep gashes.
@geetarbube9 жыл бұрын
You're talking about Povidone-iodine wipes. Benzo is an adhesive.
@MrAjusog9 жыл бұрын
geetarbube No, no, I shouldve typed out benzalkonium chloride, but betadine is an even better solution. I like the prepackaged povodine iodine q-tip version until it gets on the applicator stick and becomes honey-sticky. You're right tgat its like glue but its an excellent presurgical scrub. I think most ORs are getti g rid of it in favor of something else though its escaping my mind.

***** This is a great pack up because of the simplicity and ease of access. And it looks like you did the least practiced method but most important: you got your stuff ready and then bought the bag. Ive seen people cram so much gear in a bag because they got the bag and then started to fill until the seams were popping. But you can get to your gear easily without dislocating a finger trying to get to that snackbar at the bottom. I have so much crap in mine, its ridiculous (suture kits, stun gun strobe flashlights, lifestraws, microtechs, gas mask, etc). And yes, I made the mistake of getting the bag first, and nearly breaking my finger trying to get to the med kit at the bottom...

I have the same shape on my bag, but it's made by another company. I love the shape and all the pockets! zip ties is actually the thing I've used the most in my bag! I envy your ability to carry a knife. Here in Norway I can't even carry a multi-tool like a leatherman containing a knife. If i'm ever searched by the police and they find a knife, I would get a ticket and it would stuck to my criminal record.

Scissors can replace knives in most everyday uses
@batbatbox9 жыл бұрын
I could theoretically be charged if i carry scissors in a public place. It's the shape and the ability to harm that makes the knife or scissors illegal. The law is roughly translated to: "In a public place, it's illegal to carry a knife or a sharp object that may be used in bodily harm"

kronickingpin I am American. but I travel a lot. 13 countries spanning 5 continents so far.What I did so that I could carry something for my self defense was this...I bought a couple of majorette batons. you know, the ones little girls twirl in parades. They have a hollow aluminum shaft with a rubber stopper on each end.I took off one of the stoppers on each of the batons I bought. Then I took one to Lowes, and found a steel rod that fit inside the hollow shaft EXACTLY, and bought 2 of them.once home, I took a dremmel and cut the steel rods to the exact length of the batons and insterted them into the batons, and replaced the rubber stopper.I made a custom sheath for them which I kept attached to my backpack. the batons protruded from the sheath by about 6 inches so they were perfectly visible to everyone.what I basically now had was a pair of steel batons, that looked like little girl toys. Since I CAN twirl 2 batons simultaneously I could always pull them out and twirl them if questioned by police as to why I was carrying them. I was however NEVER harassed by ANY police ANYWHERE despite being seen with them by police many times in many places.improvised and covert weaponry is shiny :)

Hey man love the kit but you should add a med kit a small one or big you choose
@danceswithghostsquickspiri6979 жыл бұрын
I would like to add to that when you were talking about the food that important foods to carry should also be organic and healthy for the body and in maximum bioavailable nutrition your body would definitely be able to last longer instead of having one of the typical jerky bars or other bars that people usually eat. Some natural cordage and skills are hunting and gathering and creating materials from.

IT'S a start. AN everyday EDC bag should carry a city street map if you are in an urban environment. Sure you know your city and it's layout, but of there is a large scale disaster, it's nice to pull out a city map to figure out your new route home. Plus you can show it to first responders to assist you with the best way around the disaster -they know where the disaster is, you know where you need to go. YOU have a fire back-up to your fire back-up, to your fire back-up (4 ways to create a fire?), how about a back up to your water supply (probably more important than fire), you should consider a 'Life Straw' or water tabs. AS I said, it's a start. OH, and one more thing... get rid of the "Zombie" so people will take you seriously.

some good stuff, some wasted space on things I would not put in mine; I'd skip the ammo and gun and at least add some medical stuff. Apart from that, I guess people have different needs. Thanks for sharing and keeping the topic on top to stay focussed and rethink choices.
