Fights are scored by rounds. Haney won most of the rounds of the fight. The rounds he lost were really bad though. For example, Ryan rocked Haney in the first round and it was safe to give him that round but from 2 to 6 Haney won those. Ryan kinda just, moved around, Haney was the aggressor, Haney lost the 7th round bad and it was downhill from there. If you score the fight round by round the fight ends up being close. No one really cares though, much like the loma & linares fight, people will focus on the rounds they care about. People don’t care that Haney dominated linares for most of the fight, they only care about the round he got rocked in. No one cares about the rest of the loma fight, they only focus on the 10th and 11th where loma shined and once again, no one cares about the rounds Haney won, they only care about the rounds Ryan dropped him in. It’s usually the same story with Haney fights.

Floyd actually made Canelo drop weight to 152. Everyone knew Canelo struggled to make 154, so Floyd would only fight Canelo on the condition that he shed those extra 2 pounds. Fans just don't understand the significance of the official fight weight, focusing on the rehydration weight, which is nowhere near as significant.

Eddy is trying to make an average fighter great but he doesn't have it in him. Haney ducked Tank because he knows he's not the best and he lost against someone who's not the best but will be one day. Eddy is bias not unlike the ref and Bud would crucify Haney at 147. Haney is a holder and has done a lot of holding in his past fights. This is another sign he'll never beat the greatest fighters like Tank, Garcia and Crawford.

They all try to boil themselves down and then rehydrate so they're huge. Haney was way bigger than Lomachenko, and he would be way bigger than Tank. They keep talking about the left hook, but Garcia couldn't knock Tank down - Different weight class, but still. If you have power, it carries through the weight classes - Tank, Pacquiao - and if you haven't got power, then you just don't have it. Haney and Shakur Stevenson don't have that knockout power, they don't like to get hit, and Haney can't take a big punch. Haney's mistake was that he chose to fight, because he foolishly believed all the hype that his dad was throwing around. Humility is a good thing. Show you're a true champion and come back better and more humble.

At 6:00 this is what all the people making excuses about the weight need to adhere to! Team Haney is accountable for this. The excuses don’t make sense after hearing this from their own promoter mouth. Basically Team Haney were confident in their abilities, they wanted an even playing field because Devin also puts on a massive amount of weight. It’s never been a weight issue until he met his match. If it was an issue trust me they would have renegotiated that in the contract. It doesn’t matter who Devin fights at 140-147 even with him putting on that massive weight he’s still light in the a$$, nobody respects his power, and you can’t box all the type sometimes you have to fight. Devin definitely has will power though but 140 is going to expose him so I’m sure they will pick their fights wisely moving forward or like they’ve been doing…

Haney has been a weight bully (as well as an age bully) his entire career thus far and finally fought someone of his own generation and same size. A rematch wouldnt be any different. Styles makes fights. Devin has to outland and never get hit by his opponents. He cannot put an opponent away. All Ryan has to do is touch you with his left hook and thats it. He can be dropped or out struck as long as he lands that hook, fights over or fights compromised. Cannot say the same for Haney. 165 of what, pure muscle like Ryan or eat and hydrate to find the strength . All hydrating really is, is replacing the energy you’ve lost . And Ryan lost nothing and was still allowed to hydrate so how goes that make sense or even a level playing field The reason Devon retain the belt is because the WBC felt something unethical has happen and that should be concerning if you a boxing fan

I've never understood all the hate Eddie gets from some boxing fans, but for him to say he'd want Garcia to re-weigh on fight-night, having repeatedly said Haney weighs 160lbs on fight-night, means he'd literally want a 140lbs Garcia fighting a 160lbs Haney. POS. Edit: I guess he meant Garcia would weigh in in the morning then race to re-hydrate before the fight. Still a POS move.

This is what's wrong with boxing today. You can be beaten up badly, rocked five times, dropped three times and still have a draw. Just coz other guy "score points". The scoring system is flawing so bad it's basically meaningless now.

Calling Devin Haney a “world champion” is actually hilarious (I KNOW HE STILL HAS HIS BELT) but, after getting embarrassed and bullied like that, you just sound stupid calling that man a champion still. Ryan proved Devin to be a fake champion with pillow hands and got absolutely hammered. No where near a draw or close fight, stop making yourself believe that. Let’s be real, Devin got knocked down like 6 times and Ryan came out with 0 scratches on his face.

Him coming in 3lbs over is a joke, but that isn't why Devin lost the fight, why on earth was he trying to stay in the pocket with a guy who punches faster than him and way harder than him

Alr bro I see people arguing Haney won 9 rounds first of all no the fuck he didn’t giving Haney round 1 when he got smashed by the left hook and rocked is nuts. Also he only landed jabs in that round. Second of all fuck boxing scoring this wasn’t a close fight at all. This was Haney running from Ryan while Ryan was actively giving him one of the worst ass whoopings we’ve seen recently. Ryan beat the shit out of Haney and at no point did it look close.

Topically, weight is the central issue as to why heavyweights stay in their prime longer - they have to stay healthy but aren't forced to drain their bodies unnaturally. Mind you, we're listening to a guy who doesn't mind horrendous weight discrepances as in juniors Benn v Eubank.

Ppl are quick to forget Canelo made a career of coming in 15-20 pounds heavier on fight night - rehydrating massively. In Devins previous fights he’s always looked a weight class above. Sing when you’re winning Eddie and a large dollop of cognitive dissonance in your coffee when your kid loses.

Rehydration Clauses need to go and IMO have no place in the sport of boxing, Its terrible for the boxers health.....if you care that much about weight, get the fighters to weigh in 2 hours before the fight...so we start to get true weight matched fights. not this silly game of who can cut the most weight without dying.
