Outside of Sydney and Brisbane, club rugby doesn't really exist at the same level. Rugby has room for growth in Australia. It's needs restructuring down to high school rugby. Commercially the shute shield would struggle in an already saturated Sydney market. NRC almost found the right formula with franchises. 3 from NSW, 2 from QLD, 1 from VIC, ACT, WA. Fiji has canned the skipper cup. That opens the door for a Fijian franchise. Super Rugby started as artificial teams that people have gotten behind. The NRC was working imo.

he’d lost his edge with the England squad so it was the right call. I’m grateful to Eddie for all he’s done for England but it was time. Having said that he’s still one of the best test coaches in the game and Australia will be stronger under him plus he’ll be delighted to be back home. It wouldn’t shock me to see Australia win RWC this year, he has a great track record!
