​@@HellecticMojo Venom dark angel is one of the best chip kill supers in the game and a legit win con for him in a lot of matches, ram's spinning sword super is incredibly good at closing out rounds with guys crush on top of allowing for decent mix on block, both of chipp's supers are great for crushing guts, may's while super is an incredibly potent combo tool that deals way too much stun, most reversal supers can be prc or even yrc on whiff which gives them a niche over standard DP, I-no air super enables extremely fucked up left right mix, jam Bao has disgusting minimum damage on a clean hit and is a really common round closer, Ky sacred edge is an absolute nuke on low scaling (easily will do 20%+ damage by itself on top of letting Ky combo after in the corner) , sin voltaic design gives him an unreactable high low as well as ways to keep up offence safer at power calorie levels, there are also plenty of other supers that can lead to pseudo unblockables when combined with other projectiles. Like yeah, supers are often slightly outclassed but I wouldn't call them a bad use of meter on principle. A lot of the time they are the best thing possible to spend meter on

​@@HellecticMojo Ride the Lightning and Sacred Edge are both really useful, RTL for air KD, reversal and damage, while sacred edge is useful for extending combos, damage and anti zoning. Ky's supers are all useful.

Part of why I love Xrd so much is that as I'm blocking you just get to watch the characters do such cool stuff. I fought an Answer recently (I play Venom and am not very good; he was very good) and as I was blocking I just kept mentally raving about how cool Answer was!

Honestly why I love fighting games as a whole and why I don't care as much about losing online - even as I'm getting whooped I get to see my opponent put on a spectacle. I was so awe struck going online when Johnny came to Strive. I did not give a hoot when a single Johnny sent me down 3-4 floors in ranked, he's so cool!

I love XRD because of that too. I'm a Slayer player and I even get impressed by how fellow Slayer mirror fuck me up good. There was one game where a Slayer I fought had better fundamentals than me so instead of the usual 214P oki setup, I crouch in front of him and then proceeded to use 6P and 2D on wakeup AND I GOT AWAY WITH IT. Slayer players don't know when to block and keep getting him "countered". I felt so cool for adapting and using my brain.

One thing that's wholly unique to Answer is that his scarf is one of the few things in the game that is not manually animated it instead follows your path and trajectory. The only times it's animated like the rest of the game is when Answer is doing a move or is standing still. It's actually a huge animation flex when you realize how smooth the transition is between the two states.

My favorite part about Answer's phone call is that you can *hear him while he's on the phone*. I have not found a translation of what he's saying, but according to a vague Reddit comment he's just saying "Yes, hello, this is Answer." and a bunch of vague, businessy responses but I'd love to know exactly what he's saying.

I bought GGXRD back in 2019, just a week before Strive was announced (fml), and I went in completely blind, after messing around with a couple characters's combo trials, I was somewhat expecting to end up maining a simple straight foward character simce I thought the game was just way too complex for me. That's when I tried Answer's trials.... some of the most confusing, overly complicated and unnintuitive stuff I've ever seen in any fighting game... _And I loved it_ . Answer is the only character other than Sol which I completed the trials and remember saying to myself out loud "oh damn, this character is so cool!"

Heh. Weird timing since I was just thinking about Answer's cool visual aesthetic and musical theme a couple of days ago after realizing I no longer had the latter on my phone. nice vid man, as an Answer main its nice to have a role model such as superserious. But while i love the char, is hard to see it climb in the tier list, if not bottom 5, at least belongs on the lower half of the cast. Sometimes it feels as a half baked char that barely got the balance he needs (also the last patch nerfed him lol)

Been playing strive for a while now and I wanted to go back and try rev 2. Is the game playable right now? Would I be able to find matches if I were to buy it?

It recently got rollback on steam, you specifically have to buy the rev2 version, NOT rev and the rev2 upgrade kit. If you go to the rev2 store page, it'll have the one you want Strive moves in slow motion compared to xrd, but if you can vibe with that, it's a fantastic game

You won't be able to find any matches through ranked mode or the generic online lobbies, but in most regions player hosted lobbies are pretty active so you can usually find games through there. There's also plenty of discords if you are fine with using those

Not really. Official servers are dead, so unless you want to play with a very small pool of very good players... I'd say just play strive. If discord fighter are your jam, you'll feel at home
