Good verbal information even without the dancing hand. About 2/3 way thru the air bleed/idle restriction information and demo is the best part.

I love all this edelbrock info!! Im building back up my 77 power wagon ( total trail truck) and rebuilding the carb and tuning it will be a big part after its running.... i used to rebuild all the carbs for my buddies back in the high school days, so i know my way around thez things, but watching your videos is such a refresher.... i got an old 1411 that im gunna put on a magnum 360....should be a runner Thanks for killer videos!

Glad it’s useful to you! Question though. On a off roader with a 360 and a 750. So you think you’re over carbureting that? I did a video on how to choose the right size CFM. If you get a few minutes it might give you some insight.

@@MuscleCarSolutions ill check out the video... ive had a similar setup b4 in this truck...the 600s are more responsive with smaller primaries, but the 750 always had more top end power... good for clearing tires out and getting out of stuff....truck has real low gears so low end isnt much of an issue, i like the top end power...lol

5:35 not the obvious big hole where fuel comes from. It looks like the pieces have been cut ,towards the top of the piece where the cut is. why is the hole on the right so much smaller?

They are there to get atmospheric pressure. Size is proportional to the circuit they are working with. Good question!

Those I would not mess with. Only mods that are worth it are near the end of the video and it’s all about idle fueling. I’ve yet to be able to modify the main channel that feeds fuel to the booster without completely ruining it.

What a beautiful disaster that thing was. When they first came out in the late 80s we had one on a 7.90 big block rail car. Came with it when we bought it. Was on for one race and I’m not entirely sure what dad did with it. It was an absolute disaster to work on. There was one other division 5 racer that ran one and he had pretty good luck with it, but it wasn’t the simple set up in 10 minutes and go racing carburetor they made it out to be. Wanna know why I know that design wasn’t worth a flip? No one knocked it off. On a street car they might have been a little more forgiving but the early ones had no idle circuit. You could buy that block separately. They were a cool novelty.

Concerning the idle air bleed wire restriction mod: I'm running the avs 2 on a small block mopar, w150 granny gear 4 speed. Cruise mode afr reading is 13 ish....highway speed is 13 ish. Throttle response is great. In 4th gear below 30 mph around 1200 rpm it runs rich....high 11s to 12 on afr. Would enlarging the idle air bleed hole solve this issue? Always like your video content, very educational
@MuscleCarSolutions Жыл бұрын
Remember. The idle circuit is no longer in play after 1000 rpm. The transfer slot or the main metering circuit comes into play depending on the rpm and load.
@jessehughes7168 Жыл бұрын
I see adding the wire to the idle air bleed will richen the idle circuit. I need to lean out the idle circuit as I'm running 14.0-14.5ish on the wideband/afr gauge with roughly 1/8th to 1/4 turn from full stop on the idle screws and just off idle I'm running 12.0, it then leans out to 13.5-14.0 at cruising speed. I'm assuming enlarging the idle air bleed hole will accomplish this?
@jessehughes7168 Жыл бұрын
also someone suggested I switch from an open plenum adapter to a 4 hole tapered adapter as the idle circuit may have too much vacuum signal with the open adapter. I'm going to try this first before making any other modifications to the carburetor
@MuscleCarSolutions Жыл бұрын
Yup, that would be correct. But also know that’s a permeant mod and if it’s worse after you make it, you can’t go back. Edelbrock doesn’t sell boosters separately. If you’ve got some cores to cannibalize you’re good to go. You can also sleeve down the idle fuel restricter but that’s a horribly long process. You’ll reduce the idle fuel channel down and that will reduce the fueling side from idle up to that 1200-2000 rpm. Can’t narrow it down much more than that. Lots of factors at play.
@jessehughes7168 Жыл бұрын
@@MuscleCarSolutions I appreciate your time and if comes down to making irreversible modifications I'll let you know how it goes!

Another informative video, does the annular booster address the Edelbrock bog?
@MuscleCarSolutions Жыл бұрын
The bog that gets talked about frequently is just a tuning issue. It’s a characteristic of a carburetor that just doesn’t mindless dump fuel. Tuning gets rid of it, but for sure the annular booster does help that low end throttle response. Makes the tuning process easier for sure. Great question. Thanks again for stopping by!

Ok I have a 1411 & I have a 1407. I always thought they were the same carb but with a different tune? Someone told me they have different boosters? I also have two 4x4 ford trucks. One with a 466 & one with a 390. I always ran the 1411 on the 460 but really it was always rich. I'm now learning to tune. I am now running the 1407 on the 390 but with a manual choke & I bought a calibration kit for the 1407 & I was expecting it to be very rich like the other one was on my 460 but it really wasn't far off? I first leaned it out & it went very lean. So I richened it back up & it's not far off from were it started? Alil bit but not far. It runs amazing! I think my 390 truck with that 1407 will out run my 460 truck with the 1411 & the 460 has a bit more speed parts in it! Anyway, what is really the difference in these two carbs? Both 750's? Is it boosters?
@MuscleCarSolutions Жыл бұрын
They have different primary boosters. The secondary boosters are the same.

@@MuscleCarSolutions I have a question on that, I have a 1411 carb and after watching your video on the difference between 1407 & 1411 boosters I decided to get a 1407 carb and I compared the two carb boosters and they are identical. I bought both carbs used so I'm assuming that the person I bought the 1411 from must have changed the boosters? 😂
