i can’t believe how fast time passed. i’ve now been a fan for 8 years, i remember hearing „death of a dream“ on koala kontrol. i was 12, now i’m 20. i’m off to university to study photography starting next week, which has literally been my dream for years. as much as i'm excited for it, i'm also scared. ive been wanting to move away from home since i was little and now that i‘m actually moving away from my childhood home for the very first time in my life, to a completely new city and environment, i realized that it really couldn’t be harder and it makes me so sad and emotional. funny enough my favorite song of yours is untitled… i guess it makes sense. i (obviously) changed so much over these 8 years and one of the only things that stuck with me since then is EDEN. i still love your music as much as ever, if not more. i’m so happy to have this music and i love this album, i loved the last album and i will love the next album. this may sound stupid but your music is making it so much easier to get used to all of the new stuff. thank you

[Lyrics] I saw the Northern Lights at 19 Pathfinding in the sky and staying up like that shit easy Feeling I might call and make a mill just like its easy Why should I save a world that would never save me? And I've been burning both ends Like I'm trying to see the end of time Fucking like we fell in love with wasted life What you waiting for? We won't always feel this good Waiting for? Yeah How would the right time grant what you want? Don't you want to feel right standing on your ones? On your ones It's just how i feel some times I told you its gon be alright But I only hear about you thru friends now I didn't feel the time slip by I didn't know that was a last goodbye I guess we are who we are 'til we're not And with my arms round my friends 'Til the bitter end I don't really care What you really said I can break my heart by myself Guess we are who we are 'til we're not If it keeps going how it's been then we're gone And if it's all in my head I made peace with it I'm still myself in the morning I been waking up with a new friend And they boyfriend and his new friends So what you waiting for? Build me up, I can't feel this enough Called your bluff, I don't care if you walk this time But it's just how i feel some times I told you its gon be alright I only hear about you thru friends now I didn't feel the time slip by I didn't know that was a last goodbye I guess we are who are 'til were not It's just how I feel some times I told you we gon' be alright But I only hear about you thru friends now I didn't feel the time slip by Didn't know that was a last goodbye Guess we are who are 'til we're not And I don't wanna feel like I'm reaching I don't want it

questions for you: 1. about your recent cover story with district, that interview/conversation felt a lot more raw and personal, and gave us a very real look into your mind; more so than past press releases i feel. do you feel that the rawness of that interview was due to the album also being a very hard look into yourself? 2. elsewhere is my favorite track of the album. do you mind to give a little insight on your workflow for that song? it goes so many places and they're all absolutely immaculate, i'd love to hear a bit about how it all came together and what the process was like while making it! 3. will bloop and redemption arc ever see the light of day? as standalone singles maybe? lots of love, ICYMI is my favorite project of yours by a long shot. keep it up
@iameden2 жыл бұрын
1- i think that is possibly a factor. i also had met the writer of that piece before doing some press for ATO so being familiar helps. I think he approached the piece with a lot of understanding of the landscape i came from which was super refreshing to me rather than trying to explain it to people who have no idea. and finally we spent like an entire day on the shoot for the cover talking for the interview so that helped also. 2- it started life a lot more consistent in terms of production. the song had been written for some time and while i was working at it, changing certain sections felt like it was unlocking itself. eg- the intro used to be a lot more standard just chords and voice, but i realised that by muting everything and allowing it to be a spacious atmosphere the feeling was much more correct. this evolved into the racetrack version that made the album. 3- not sure atm

I did see the northern lights at 19 when I stayed with my grandma for my grandpas funeral one year after the hardest time in my life and one year after I started to truly find who I wanted to be I feel like I’m building myself up from scratch again, change and healing is never comfortable. and through the last 6 years the only constant thing I can remember is your music, and if I’m lost I know where to start. thank you
@jameshall55562 жыл бұрын
Hey Jon, in your songs I think you’ve touched on the evolution of your own musical style and how you won’t stay “Static”. What keeps you moving forward in your artistic choices? Are there any notable genre’s or songs that you drew inspiration from in ICYMI? On another train of thought, I noticed the lyrics in “Wings” said: “And you can find me where the sea pours into the stars. I’ll get there someday” And in the music video for “Good Morning” it depicted you in the ocean. Being the opening song in No Future, does it signify some sort of arrival? That’s all I’ve got. :)
@iameden2 жыл бұрын
i think icymi has more experimental influences than ever before. that and club music returning to my palette also. there is a part of me that considers things ive made as a box ticked, so it would feel wrong for me to keep ticking the same box? i feel different from how i felt yesterday even, so how could i create with the same intent. thats not to say i wont find more consistency in future, its just how im moving right now. that video and that lyric are unrelated

His music has been one of those most stable pieces in my life, a lot happened in my early teen years, but I’ll never when I would want to shut off the world around me, I would put Eden on. His music got me through a lot and it still is. To be 18, going on 19 at the end of this month, listening to his new song with a new album following, in my own apartment, and getting over a heartbreak. He never fails to amaze me and make me feel like I have a home within his music and myself. All the love to Eden.
