Another outstanding bio. Nice to see Johnny and Edgar get some of the attention they so justly deserve. "Together" is still one of my all time favorites. The interplay between them on "Baby What You Want Me To Do" is ferocious, beautiful, and absolutely captivating. Just cause I gotta get it into every post...Waiting for the Frank Marino bio!

It's a true badge of honor to NOT be in the rock hall of fame F them. Both of the Winter brothers belong to a small group of artist's that shaped modern music history.

Always dug the winter Bros, especially the early stuff from the 60s and 70s. Never knew Edgar invented the “key-tar” either. Very cool

Oh yeah! The brothers both played a big part in the evolution of rock.

I saw Johnny in Detroit in 1968 then saw him again with Edgar in 1969 in Birmingham MI in a small club where I could stand right next to the stage. I later walked smack into Edgar at an arena concert a few years later when we both walked around a corner into each other Frankenstein is an awesome classic
@guitarmeetsscience26 күн бұрын
Damn that is a pretty cool story! Especially they're running with Edgar, it must have been pretty cool meeting him. Frankenstein is indeed a serious classic!

The best live club performance I’ve seen in over 50 years of seeing bands was Edgar Winter and his band in the early 1990s.

OK WAIT Edgar is the session sax soloist on the giant hit record, Simply The Best - have tro think Edgar's equal multi-instrument & studio whiz Todd Rundgren chose him to play on Meatloaf LP
@guitarmeetsscience26 күн бұрын
You nailed it - also did some keys on David Lee Roth crazy from the heat. Those are some fun facts I should have included. I'm glad you pointed out some of those too. I could still hear the sax on simply the best in my head as I read your comment. Between him and Johnny, such musicality!

Johnny alone, & with Edgar, has created a legacy for any novice student of African-American music far greater than Page, Clapton, Beck, SRV or even Mike Bloomfield (& as early as MB was doing it, JW was too.)

Thanks Dave! The rock and roll Hall of Fame has really taken a dump in recent years. I like a lot of the artists that don't fall into the genre - I listen to a lot more than rock that's for sure, but it's just weird to see them there versus maybe coming up with some other halls of fame to really be able to celebrate them to their fullest instead of just piling them all into one rock genre. But I've had debates with others before, there are definitely a lot of conflicting schools of thought on that. Nevertheless - Johnny and Edgar both should definitely be in there! Keep rocking bro 🤘🤘

No not so - The Trash were never 12 pieces on stage - what's amazing is what they could do with 7 pieces. But for fate we should still be listening to multiple JWA and Trash albums - IMO the WInters are the most talented brother act in rock history Thir duo tracks on the live LP are kiiler - they sing harmony falsetto, and both break into full voice, on cue - let alone what you had when Johnny came on and lead the Trash OMG

Love this channel great 👍 stuff oh just needed to say all us musicians must of used the egg cartons guess what they do and did absolutely nothing lol this had been proven over and over just like pick ups and high gain distortion the tone change is so tiny that most people can not tell in a blind test us musicians use are eyes to hear a lot lol we are all guilty of such things there was a time when unless a guitar had siemor Duncan are emg in it I would not play saying the metal tone is shit haha when in reality with high gain all pick ups sound close to the same it's really crazy how a name like Marshall are Gibson can change your perception of the sound
@guitarmeetsscienceАй бұрын
Haha I remember trying the egg carton trick.... The neighborhood still petitioned us out of the neighborhood lol. Yep you nailed it in terms of the time as well. I still prefer cheap ceramic magnet equipped pickups for the attack 🤘🤘
