This movie is SO criminally underrated. One of the best sci-fi movies I've ever seen and probably the best use of "time travel" in recent history. I think the marketing was really the thing that shot the movie in the foot, esp with them constantly switching between the two titles they kept using in the promotional material.
@d3l3tes00n2 жыл бұрын
@Author B.L. Alley It has less to do with fans & more to do with studios. Audiences 100% want more creative & better written content, but the same old dudes are still running the biz.

@Author B.L. Alley Yes.. that's what I'm saying... there's great stuff out there that studios are ignoring because of the people in power. And how do you know I haven't read one of your novels? ;-)

@Author B.L. Alley Plenty of movies that people had no idea came from other material & also plenty of original movies out there that audiences want more of. @@lightup6751 Which is based on the actual text novel "All you need is Kill" - Great book, although they made significant changes to the characters and storyline. They changed the main character from an average Japanese solder in the SDF doing his best to a somewhat cowardly American soldier. Still, I think they did a much better job of developing Cruz's version of the character at the beginning of the movie. Although, I kind of prefer the books version of the ending.

You two mentioned how good Emily Blunt looked in this. She was jacked, yes, but she was also three months pregnant and hid it from everyone except Cruise. He kept her secret, and pushed for anything possibly dangerous for her pregnancy to not be done without giving it away. It wasn't until well after the movie wrapped that it came out that she revealed that she was pregnant during filming. Cruise might be a bit crazy, but he looks out for his costars.

24:12. 1 thing people are often confused about at the ending of the film is that because Cage/Cruise and J Squad launched their attack several hours BEFORE the entire surprise invasion took place, and Cage got covered in the Omega's blood he was able to regain the ability to rewind time 1 day again like when he got covered in the Alpha's blood. So, when he went back 1 day this time he ended up in the helicopter since that's where he was several hours before waking up in the military base, but because the Omega died all of the other Mimics died as well, so Cage was able to restart the day but the Mimics stayed dead. And, if Cage ever dies again he'll restart the day since he still has the Omega's power, unless he gets a blood transfusion again.
@CannonRaw2 жыл бұрын
I had the same interpretation. I reckon he's essentially immortal blood transfusion holding though.
@andrewbrzezinski9152 жыл бұрын

@ThisIsMyFullName2 жыл бұрын
It's not Cage that resets time at all, it's always the Omega. Cage gains the blood of an Alpha and the Omega wants the Alphas to survive, so every time Cage dies the Omega thinks an Alpha has died, and the Omega then resets time. You can question whether it's the Omega or Cage himself that resets time in the end, but it seems implausible that it would be Cage since he's only a human. All the Mimics died because they were interlinked with the Omega through time, so it could be this explosive time reset that sends Cage back, only he doesn't die because he's not a Mimic.
@edc14512 жыл бұрын
Got to agree with ThisIsMyFullName If the Omega could reset the day with it's own death, It would have instantly. If Cage has this power, then who knows what will trigger him to reset the day. Car accident, Rita dying, Nightmares, could be anything.
@gabrielpasqualini8413 Жыл бұрын
@@ThisIsMyFullName I mean you can clearly see the blood seeping into him just like when he died to the alpha,and at that point the Omega is dead,so the only possible way for him to activate the power again is if he's the one doing it,at least that's how I see it.

26:10 My guess is that that last time he died (when killing the omega), he just got some final bit of time resetting power from its blood, and he somehow, maybe inadvertently, reset it to before everything (being ordered to go into combat, getting arrested, etc.) happened. But since the omega (and the rest of the 'one organism' - alphas and the other mimics) is now dead, there will be no resetting anymore after this. When he dies, hopefully of old age, he'll just die and won't end up back in the helicopter. Anyway, the best thing about this last reset is that Rita and the whole of J squad are still alive.

*I remember this was supposed to get a sequel. It was in the works for a few years then never heard of again. Too bad. This was an awesome film*

Having to fight the same battle everyday would be less taxing than repeating all the same conversations and personal interactions.

The Angel is actually a combat soldier, whereas Tom's character isn't. She never hesitates to shoot him to save the mission. Good soldier.

I don't think he can reset without the brain/omega. I understood it as the Omega reset the day if an Alpha dies. I think he got one last reset while the Omega was dying but once it is dead that's it.

one of the best sci fi movies. Have actually recommended this to my parents they also liked it and they are not fan of scifi movies.

Its like save scumming. Just keep restarting, from your save point, till you get the perfect playthrough or as close as you can get.
