The epic action of this sci-fi thriller EDGE OF TOMORROW, unfolds in a near-future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault ,unbeatable by any military unit in the world.Major William Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop-forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski(Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

Jup, for days and weeks all you could think of was the next move and then when you got it you felt like a god and then the next scene comes and you die and do it all over again. My kids wil never know that feeling.

I think he isn't dead rather very badly injured and still has to be killed. They probably didn't show that cause Letting it to imagination was a great choice. And no the reality doesn't branch out rather the entire experience resets. It's also the same thing in the manga as well but it's explained a bit more complicatedly. It's a simple ctrl+z.

They were facing an enemy that they knew little about because of the lack of information. The training facility is for the more experienced soldiers, not to mention it is more of a work in progress than a final product, hence the lack of proper safety.

@@Anonymous-ub9oi True The movie even talks about the weapons and how they came to be because she successfully used them so well.... because she trained like he is. The movie also explains how it was all rushed to production because the human race was nearing extinction... Losing battle after battle and only won when she used those weapons. As a result.. The world started mass producing them.. If she wanted a live training room.. They will get her a live training room.

@@CactusCowboyDan Body remembers the past more than the brain, we may never know our great grandfathers name but his nose or ears may be on us, some also pass on intellectual abilities which is why we are smarter now, loved the metaphorical aspect of the movie!

@@praseet1 What you mean is that our DNA is passed from one generation to another like copying ourselves. It does not mean "body remembers the past more than the brain". That makes no sense at all. My body does not remember anything from before it's time. It's just got the genes of whoever passed them onto me. Also us getting smarter intellectually has nothing to do with our genes. Its a luck of the draw. A man with an IQ of 130 can have a boy with an IQ of 20. Our brains did evolve but intelligence is measured in how individual minds work.

@@praseet1 "We pass on intellectual abilities", Yes, it's called writing. We're not "smarter now" it's that we learned to write down information so people didn't have to repeat the same trials to get the same result. We can read what others have done and build upon it. It's a myth that we're somehow "smarter" than other humans were hundreds or thousands of years ago. We're the same species. We just have access to a greater sum of human knowledge that's been built up over time.

@@NickC84 Writing to a certain extent, but still our body is a reservoir of past information embedded in the DNA, the subconscious mind is like a black box which records our experiences till death and these get imprinted on to the DNA too.. Written matter is just superficial. We are more than our books.

I always wonder what happens in the timeline where he dies. Is the time goes on? She shoots him, the next day there is a massacre at Verdun, where she knows that she will die and that humanity have no chance. Her only hope is that in another timeline Cage would succeed. That must be terrifying.

Nothing. The day restarts for everyone when he dies. That's the point of shooting him in the first place. And even if that wasn't the case, she's the Angel of Verdun. She's untouchable and gets what she wants.

This is the worst shooting range I've ever seen. Targets move around, circling him, but no safety features down range. The lady didn't even trained him how to shoot first.

It literally doesn't matter though. If he dies, the day restarts for everybody. And they are all doomed anyway unless he succeeds, so if some bystander gets shot by accident it doesn't matter either.
