Many thanks! I was keen to swap some model categories around but had no clue how. Some notepad editing will follow this comment! I had some fun recently making my own splash screen. Carbon background with purple 3D writing (to match my radio's faceplate/CNC stuff). It says "Time to abuse some foam" 🤣

Your videos are VERY helpful. I have 2 questions.What file editor are you using to edit models.yml? Do you know if the Radiomaster TX16s with the multi module will work/bind to a Spektrum AR637TA 6 Channel AS3X/SAFE Telemtry Receiver? That is what comes in a bind and Fly E-fliteTurbo Timber and the FW 190 from Horizon . I was getting RSSI issues with Open TX. I am setting up the FW 190 after converting to EdgeTX Ver. 2.7.0 and have selected DSM Auto for the RF Protocol. Any tips would be appreciated. Module Ver. is 1.3.3.7 AETR

Hello John. Thanks so much for this video (I'm working my way through all of them). It has helped me understand how it all goes together and perhaps I'll be brave enough to try a few things. One relative question. My Zorro 4in1 has overnight deleted all binding settings and I can't rebind. Is there a particular file that relates to this and that might need re-flashing? I've re-flashed the general firmware but that has not fixed it. Thanks again.

Under System->Hardware near the bottom there is an Internal RF box. Does it say Multi? I'm actually not sure where exactly bind information is stored as I know a bind without an Rx # can be used across multiple models. I've never had any flash process erase my bindings though.

On OpenTX i customized even the turn-off screen (THEMES/Default/shutdown and THEMES/Default/sleep). On Edge TX its not working yet i guess. couldnt find the shutdown original images for restoring.

That could cause problems because of the differences in hardware. I would suggest converting using Companion. Open models from sending radio, save to ETX file, switch radio profiles, open ETX file. Companion will complain and tell you it needs to make some changes. Allow. Write to Zorro.

Images I’m told can be jpg. I haven’t tried any other format but png which works for everything.

Just came back from a total conversion of my FrSky Horus X12S from OpenTX to EdgeTX for the Touch Screen MOD and kept frustrating over it not using my custom Splash Screen when at some point I looked at the file using the Radio File Browser and saw it being a JPG kinda triggering a _"Chotto Matte!!"_ and yea... PNG it _also_ has to be.

There currently is no move option for categories. They're migrating to labels in 2.8, that's where the model management effort is going. If you want to move them the easiest thing to do is load them up in companion, make your changes, then save to radio.

Thanks for all the tutorial videos I recently upgraded from open tx to edge tx 2.8 by learning from your video I want to ask There is a delay in edge tx When powering up the radio There is delay between splash screen and welcome sound That was not in open tx How get rid of that

Switch back to OpenTX. I realize that may sound like a wise guy answer, but the delay is not configurable. Remember, on 2.8 they use labels now which means the model list is built dynamically. I'm not 100% sure, but I expect that happens during boot.

Model images can use JPG. I'm not sure about the splash/background images. Try it.

I have several model images that are in the file that don't show up in the list when I try to apply that image to a model. Is it because I might have the size wrong? I did adjust the size of them to the same size of other images in the file, but still they can't be seen when trying to load to a plane model.

There is a limit in the length of the filename. I think it's either 8 or 6 characters. Make sure you are using the correct dimensions, png or jpg, and filename is 8 characters (maybe 6) or less. No special characters either.

Ive done a ton of watching YOUR videos the past few days. HUGE help setting up my new, red, leather (& AG01) tx16s! Is there any way to use a real pic of my planes on/for my models on the tx? Thank you! Greg J

Yup. Take your picture, resize it to approximately 192x120, save in PNG format. You can use tools like paint.net on windows or preview on OSX to remove the background if you want. Also check out www.skyraccoon.com/. They have a huge collection of actual planes with this work already done.

Hi John, Thanks for the Video Snippet! One thing that I’ve been meaning to ask about the EdgeTX Sounds. When I select a sound for a global function or whatever, there’s no preview for that sound like OpenTX. For example, in OpenTX every time I select a sound, it plays that sound, but not with EdgeTX. Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug with EdgeTX. I’m on the latest version of EdgeTX.

I've noticed that as well. Not sure it's considered a bug. You may want to open an issue on the EgeTX github and report it or request a feature add.

Erase sounds/en. Download sound zip from gitub, copy sounds/en to sd card.

I have a custom sound file for every model on my radio. On OpenTX i heard the sound every time i switched model on the radio. On EdgeTX i only hear it once, when i start the radio it anounces the model currently selected. Anyone know how to get it working when switching models?

nice. I installed the glados soundpack from seiifpv. Do you know why i cant replace that "special" wav file thats in system thats called hello? whenever i replace it with my own wav file i just doesnt play on start up. tysm

Hard to know. I've replaced hello.wav with all sorts of custom sounds, so it does work. There's got to be some issue with the format of the one you're using.

I don't think so. I left Amber a long time ago. I use the Emily pack from EdgeTX and I make my own Emily sounds. I also take Emily requests on my discord.

how do i xfr my models (70+) from my old dead radio ( open tx ) to my new radio with ( edge tx ) i copied the files but they don't update to .yml how can i change them to ,yml

When you flash EdgeTX 2.6 or higher, the Yaml conversion is handled by the radio.

Great Video. I have a new TX16s Mark II running Vers:2.6.0 and EdgeTX Companion Vers: 2.7.1. I loaded the "Amber" Sound Pack into both and the radio works perfectly however in Companion simulator it can only find 5 character file names instead of the normal 6 chars. Has anyone else noticed this and is there a fix, or do I need to rename all the 6 char files.

Radioking isn't supported by EdgeTX. I've heard of people using the Jumper T18 firmware for it, but I would advise switching to a supported radio like the TX16s.

The firmware opentx-tx16s-bluetooth-flexr9m-lua-en-2.3.9-otx.bin will not switch over to edge TX. it corrupts the models folder. how can this be fixed, it will not even work with open tx companion.
