With Mr. Foxglove, I think the lifelink very clearly counts as the white ability. Often those evergreen keywords on these creatures align with the color pie. Mr. Foxglove has to attack for all three aspects of the color pie to take effect. He can draw a bunch of cards, a blue ability. He can cheat a fatty into play, a green ability. And he can gain life, a white ability. Ms Bumbleflower also has three colors and three effects with the vigilance, each ability aligning with at least one of the colors in Bant.

For Eluge, think how broken flicker becomes. In one or two turns you can be casting 4 / 5 cmc blue instants and sorceries for free each turn. So crazy. The challenge is going to be finding the right balance of cards. There are like 10 mono blue flicker spells 3 mana or less (which also will get the cost reduction, btw, so they snowball). I almost think you put them all into the deck. Then I'd include clone / stealing spells that are instant/sorcery based. Coupled with removal these will balance out for lack of creatures... Side note, I also think Eluge makes a fun Islandwalk tribal commander.

Honestly his ability doesnt seem all that strong for it to have a combat damage disadvantage, maybe if it was "draw cards equal to the difference between you and the player with the most cards in hand, then put a creature onto the battlefield from your hand without paying its mana cost" it could be argued that it would need a damage trigger instead of an attack, but as is he is kinda just meh, especially because he has no evasion and 5 toughness isnt all that much nowadays so he has to put himself at risk just for 1 trigger

I like bumbleglower. Coming from the precon, this deck is not that defensive with creatures. Giving her vigilance encourages attacking. To me, that's a heads-up design. Things are obviously different in the wild

The shame about not talking about the tribal commanders is that in this set they're not as straight forward as 'Play Rabbits and win', especially with commanders like Finneas, it works with ANY tokens with the attack trigger, so playing around a go tokenwide strategy with a little bit of blink is a good way to go, I'd be interested in an video where you'd give your own spin on the tribal commanders

The Infamous Cruelclaw is for sure going in my Anje deck which is built around madness. What a great combo for madness abilities. It's also a more reasonable deck that I try to keep mid power level cuz they tend to be more fun to play anyways.

Yes, these creatures are going to be more and more powerful for each damned point of mana spent. They are just too easy. Too easy to get value from. Too manu abilities. Just a ton load kf positive effects with no frickin sownside to balance it put. No one at all. That's kinda babysitting So, big Artifacts and Enchantments are comfortably quick (Haste), have a big spacy butt (4/4 AND indestructible), unremovable (indestructible, in fact) and... They get you draw cards? In a color (red) very lean to attack? And without any worries of attacking, due to indestructible? That's babysitting.... 8:55 "Gilraen" / "Distinguished Conjurer" / "Angel of Condemnation" / "Livio, Oathsworn Sentinel" are useful here 14:30 see? "Oh dear, you have ramp-ed a ton, made millions of mana, cast everything and now you have no more toys to play? No worries, you'll draw A LOT." "Ah, you didn't get your sugar-heavy donuts after attacking? Don't cry, you can **commit tax fraud** by _evading_ the single peculiar way to balance this game out: mana, you can cast HUGE stuff FOR FREE! Also, you have Parliament Immunity against any law suit ((counterspell)) Are you crying with joy now? Good 237-th Christmas of this year!" SEE? With the Odd Acorn Gang going wide is a good backup plan, just include a few high impact anthems. Something like Coat of Arms which can still buff the commander. But definitely a nuts voltron commander.

Group hug as a strategy doesn't need to be stronger. As the strategy of Group hug is not concerned with winning the game, its to make sure everyone's decks at the table are operating as well as they could be, those decks don't want or need to run win-cons because the goals of the decks aren't to win. Usually group hug decks run a lot of pillowfort type effects but those are there to help make sure the group player doesn't die. But not dying isn't the same as winning.

@@Thedeadsuns Most "group hug" deck nowadays operates with a much more aggressive strategy than the one you mentioned - this deck is an example of a more aggressive take on group hug which is quite rampant in my meta. the point you highlight is exactly why the strategy is recieving some "love" from Wotzy: it was slow as hell and now it's getting much quicker.

I tested Bumble as a control group hug with a ton of instants. She turned out to be pretty solid since she regularly refilled my counterspells or removal. The only downside is how she ate into everyone’s turns. Making her pretty unfun for others.

I think if you want the sort of deck that Maha can give you, Judith is possibly better, giving your spells death touch and lifelink and having access to red will make that better. But great 99 card.

I just finished building mr Foxglove and I solely wanted to build it, because Abundance and Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar let you get the draws as well as you get to put a creature on the field, because they replace the draws, so you didn't draw any cards, no matter how many cards ended up in your hand.

I constructed a flubs deck. I built it with cheap spells that let you scry so you don’t get stuck with 1 land in your hand. The only problem is if you ever have an even number of cards, he ends up making you discard your whole hand. So you have to be careful with cantrips, but also you occasionally need some way to get rid of that 2nd or 4th card in your hand you draw at the beginning of your turn.

I kinda look forward mostly to build Mr. Foxglove as a fox tribal deck so I can include the giant fox from theros and the blue one from the chinese set they made and I think it's so strong in itself it could enable an underpowered tribe nicely. And i think the most interesting on is Zoraline which I might be trying to build thematically but there is probably many more interesting paths to take as you can play around with the finality counters and repeatable reanimation in different ways.

I think the idea with Flubs, The Fool is to play all the additional land effects (burgeoning turn 1 is the best case scenario) to burn your hand and then have enough mana to cast any card you draw

Zinnia is in my opinion actually kind of broken for the fact that it's wording only cares about "when you cast a creature you may pay (2)". It does not care WHERE you cast it from nor does it care if you even pay the original mana cost. Any effect that is specifically worded as "cast without paying mana cost" is huge with Zinnia on the board and completely cuts the mana cost for the cast.

I can't help but be a quite underwhelmed by the color repartition of commanders in Bloomburrow (base edition+commander set). Every 3 colors combination of white, green, blue and red gets one or two or three commanders (and as you showed, a lot of them are very good/interesting). Meanwhile black gets a sultai commander that looks at your topdeck and... that's it (I guess there's Wick, for those who want to build a rat+snail edh deck). No jund, no esper, no mardu, no abzan. At least all 2-colors identity have a commander, but almost half of the new 2-colors black commanders are golgari squirrels.

With the Odd Acorn Gang, You can draw more cards if some of your creatures have first strike. Some examples would be Glissa Sunslayer, Hidden Blade, Sword of Vengeance, Drana, Liberator of Malakir, Mirri the Cursed, etc. The key is to have some with first strike and some without.

I'd be willing to wager a good amount that the naya token commander is not going to be the most popular from the set. I'd put it in 4th or 5th place overall just because there are so many other naya token commanders that are, in my opinion, better and more fun already. I think Ygra, Ms. Bumbleflower, and Zinnia will be the three most popular creatures to use as commanders from Bloomburrow, not necessarily in that order.

I understand seeing it and thinking that it has great synergy because it gives land flood counters, but you're in mono blue. How many non-islands are you going to have in mono-blue? A vast majority of your lands are already going to be islands, and turning off your utility lands for Eluge is not great when you can have best of both worlds by just blinking and attacking with Eluge.

Could you give an example? I think all the commanders in this set feel like they fit their color combos. The three color commanders are a bit more tangientially related to each of them individually, but that’s usually how higher color count cards have always been.
