About All In The Family:
One of the most acclaimed comedy series of all time, All in the Family with Archie Bunker as the irascible, highly opinionated, working-class family man who viewed the world on his terms and his terms only. When not arguing with his liberal son-in-law, "Meathead," Archie took refuge in his long-suffering wife, Edith, who tries her best to understand Archie's conservative ways and outdated beliefs.

I love when Edith found her backbone in the later years of the series. She had finally had enough of sacrificing everything for everyone else. It was her turn to be put first for a change. Brilliant writing.

Me too. I greatly prefer the second half of AITF to the first half. Archie is softened a bit (he’s really tough to take in the early years) and Edith is just great.

It is gratifying. The character was originally written to be Archie's equal in cynicism, but there was no chemistry until they turned her into the flighty pushover we came to know.

@@koreypinkerton5031 - Not exactly: Woke is when men tell you they can be women and vice versa. And men proceed to demand the takeover and domination of women’s sports. Any woman who has trained her whole life and then points out it’s unfair having to compete in such an arena is called a transphobe. She is silenced, threatened, held hostage (as happened recently) and has absolutely no say in shaping the fairness of any new civil rights movement. Edith would’ve been horrified. She’d be back to watching her rights as a woman be erased. That’s woke.

Love how the writers let each character grow, Gloria and her husband would help Edith understand her own power and that she deserved to be treated better and they also helped Archie to understand where he was wrong and to treat his wife with more understanding and care... A lot of marriages had some of the elements that this show depicted back then, and I think this show in part, helped a lot of married change for the better.
@GameparkGames

Gloria and the Meathead didn't really do that, They helped Edith sure but they constantly bashed and berated Archie, Archie is no where near a saint but in his own way he does try for her when it really matters but this isn't one of those moments where he doesn't see the necessary need to be there as it has nothing to do with him, selfish sure but it's relatable overall. The best way to show that Archie does care for her is during the episodes where Edith really has it rough (Edith's 50th Birthday and the Episode where Beverly LaSalle dies) it shows that Archie will do anything to keep her happy even if it means making a fool of himself. The unfortunate circumstances Archie and Edith both are stuck in is the stereotype of a Housewife not being equal to a job which is why even she looks shocked as well saying what she said and due to that Archie is unfortunately right in how their relationship is played out because they both agree with the roles they're in. They do care for each other in the end.

You must not have watched the show, the outer layer you see this but if you watch and peel the layers and see The characters for who they are you do see that Archie is appreciative of his wife, he doesn't openly show it due to what he witnessed from his parents. Similarly Edith had the same thing just not near the level of what Archie been through but enough to know she needs to be a loyal housewife. They don't know how to express their feelings to one another that well but you see it if you watch them.

Agreed. I cut off my tv cable and got rid of my tv in the mid 2000s because of all the crap on it; sub par series, reality shows. I watch what I like on the internet, but even then we're still inundated by lawyer dramas, crime dramas, drug dramas and zombie dramas and the trashy shows like big brother and those matchmaking shows (which looks like a herd of gigolos and hookers lol). Ugh..Netflix churns out some awful contest shows: fashion, cooking, cake decorating...and while on the face of it, it may sound interesting, they are horrible, horrible contest formats.
