For those of you who missed it, the text before the eye-removal television set reads "per mi caeci vident," or "by his son, the blind see." Just thought that was cool, and that it may be easily missed.

Another nice touch in the scene @1:30 is, the reference to the Owl of Wisdom, emblem of penetrating sight and intelligence, (reference to the lluminati Conspiration). The latin text means "through me, the blind become sighted", an ironic way to mentionate how the "Big bosses" (politicians?) can control whatever they want us to think, just by picking our eyes, through the Mass Media. @0:21 the owl simbols control their brainless puppets through the threads. @0:44 the owl is showing his apprentices how does the "Human Circus" work. @1:20 both owls are making use of their "penetrating sight" and the Owls puppet is controlling the Mass Media as tool. @1:30 comes the mentionated scene, where our eyes are picked out. Again the mention about the Owl of Wisdom through the latin text P.M.C.V (per me caeci vident). @1:44 those eyes are being given as food, the feed the apprentices owls. And i could keep explaining the rest of the scenes, but I´m too lazy to do it :P PD: Sorry, my english isn´t that good, but I hope everyone could understood, what I mean.

Grotesque, bleak, beautifully animated, brutally honest. Whatever they are trying to make a statement about here (from the too-obvious song-title possible "meat is murder" issue, through social issues like corruption, conformity, lies and denial and hypocrisy, wars, solitude in a seemingly lawless inhumane insane world, and even rape- especially the lyric: "these boys, they just wanna have fun...")- they spit it like dirt in the face, which they were always great at, like in the legendary "Bullets". The techno beats sounds just like a morbid circus, designed perfectly for the song

The scene @1:26 of the television plucking out the eyes implies that the TV, i.e. Mass Media, is not meant to inform and enlighten, but to make us blind and ignorant to the truth of our world. This ties in with the final scene where he drops off the assembly line (a reference to our modern society) and recovers his eyes, goes outside the 'temple' (notice the Giza Pyramid in the backdrop behind the building) and starts to sob as he realizes the true state of the world. This video is jam-packed with so much esoteric symbolism it's amazing. Whoever made it is a genius.
@edgarpledge52068 жыл бұрын
+phaedris I agree, always nice to see people who are awake producing music/art that's both exceptional, and terrifying
@nighthoodlupin35004 жыл бұрын
Great... personally, I find the rhetoric against the "mass media", at least in terms of the news, to be a fabrication of conspiracy theorists, "alternative media" (aka propaganda networks), and people who have much to gain by discrediting the mainstreme media because the truth hurts their causes. So reading your analysis and pointing out that scene kinda disheartened me about the video, and because of that I decided to look into it and see if I could get another interpretation of what was being said. Big mistake. So, I managed to figure out what it says under the TV - Per Me Caeci Vident. That's latin for "Through me the blind become sighted". Searching this lead me to webpages referencing.... the Illuminati. :( Great. So that makes sense with the rest of the video showing the pyramid at the end and all that... Personally I just want to see the video as a representation of what industrialization has done to humanity and that nothing has become more industrialized and fake than humanity its self. Everything else is done to keep that machine going by keeping the masses ignorant. I'll leave the conspiracy crap to the nutjobs that love the internet "...because that's where you can find the truth! Not on the lamestream media!". There's enough actual BS happening in the world in front of our faces that any educated person can figure out, there's no need to theorize about wilder conspiracies than those. This is the only real relavent "conspiracy", and its not a theory, its real and obvious and anyone who thinks clearly for a second can figure it out: There's some guy that a lot of people have really taken a liking to. He's not like the other guys, he's like you and me, and he's gonna save us from all the people who he says aren't like us. But then someone finds scientificly-sound data that contradicts him and a recording of him showing us that he's lied to us all. This info ends up on the news. He's caught, but in order to save himself he tells us that our own eyes are lying to us and that he always tells the truth and the news always lies. Because we want to believe him, we decide to believe that the news is the one telling lies. This is just one example. There are many people doing this, repeatedly, anyone who gets caught by the truth... it happens so many times that eventually all the bad guys are seen as right, and the only one telling the truth is bad, or we just give up and dont believe anyone. The truth doesn't sell because it tastes too bad, its hard to swallow. Just like vegitables... they dont taste like candy, but they're healthy. Naturally. Candy is delicious, but it's bad for you.

And how do you see and think of the world we live in now, it's only getting worse. Too many people who refuse to see the truth, they're happy living in a delusion. I wonder why suicide rates are up, those of us who kept our eyes are horrified, just trying to wake those around us but to no avail and just want out. I feel like the dead horseman trying to warn everyone but no one can hear me, I'm already dead.

Things that scared me just enough as a kid tend to become among my favorite things as an adult. I think part of fear comes out of a lack of understanding, being too young to understand, but the fear can lead to fascination and can compell you to try to understand it better. If it can be eventually understood, then it suddenly seems profound... if it cant ever be understood, then you were probably right to be scared.
