First game this year I’ve been able to sit back and go THIS is our playoff team, all those names on the score sheet and not just the 2 we’re used to seeing is an absolutely beautiful thing to see

I have to say this is the smartest Oilers channel by a long shot. They don’t just read boxcars and get excited. They know details.

And COH *provides* details, namely on Grade A/5-alarm shots.

Been watching them for years and they are the best by far. David and Bruce are great at what they do. Bruce is a genius when it comes to Oilers history too.

Since October 31st, Draisaitl and Nurse are both #1 and #2 in the league in plus/minus with a +17 and +16 respectively. Both have been fantastic and if Nurse can keep it up that's going to be a massive boon for this team. Also, Henrique and Podkolzin are both +10 in that span -- so Adam has been getting things going and Podz has fit in well with Drai.

I think Knoblauch's system play is starting to become absorbed as habit. Good to see Drai get goals from different angles. He was getting too predictable.

First, Minnesota is missing several good players due to injury. So are the Oilers. Next, Leon was all over this game. His assist on the Kapanen goal was a keep away for the ages (eventually against 2 players). One Goal and Three Assists on the night. He's got 4 Goals and 6 Assists over the last 4 games. Folks that's 2.5 points per game. He leads the league in Goals and Game Winning Goals right now. He didn't do it alone. Podkolzin multipoint night. McDavid multipoint night. Bouchard (who got hurt after a late hit INTO Pickard by Hartman who should face some suspensions for it but that's a Player Safety thing so who knows) had a multipoint night too. Nurse (who has been playing some of his best hockey of late) had 2 Primary Assists for a multipoint night. We got 2 of 4 on the PP. Let in 1 of 3 on the PK. Got a shortie on another of their opportunities. Derek Ryan scored a goal (his 1st of the year). Ty Emberson got into a really good fight (and when the Oilers fight they "tend" to win) and he is from the Minnesota area so lots of his family in attendance (and he got an Assist on the Shortie too). Stecher got his 2nd goal of the season. Brown got his 4th (and it was the shortie). All 4 lines scored. Many said the Oilers would be lucky to get 2 of 4 on the 4 game swing against Tampa Bay, Minnesota, Vegas, and Florida. We won the first two (in very different ways) but with both of those games showcasing that we DO have Defense (please let Bouch just have something minimal, loosing him would be a big hit). Two more games to go. LA lost tonight to the Devils but Vegas beat Winnipeg in OT. Canucks won, Flames lost, Seattle won so while we gain ground on LA we just keep pace with Vegas. We really need to beat them to close the gap somewhat. Take care all

Harder and harder for the Skinnerittes to claim "Pickard is just a backup, and not a very good one" isn't it. Wow, some people only learn the hard way. But I'm sure they will parrot some fool telling them that it's a one off and could never happen again. Best game of the year by far. 60 full mins of sustained 2 way play. I was worried they would hang Pickard out to dry like they did last year when he was in. This version of the Oilers looked 100% like a contender. Great stuff!

The Hartman play is a penalty, but it’s hardly dirty. In a contact sport you must always be ready for contact, especially if your opponent is pissed off after you’ve thoroughly embarrassed them on their home ice. Hopefully he learns the way Nurse learns after he was blown up and starts playing like Nurse is now… what a turn around by him, in a month we could be talking about how he should have been on Team Canada. I love Bruce’s analysis on J. Brown lol

That’s harsh. Maybe just keep not-nice thoughts unsaid? I think both commentators are excellent
@joetoh66756 сағат бұрын
I think the two personalities complement each other nicely. Bruce is a solid analyst with a sort of grumpy, sort of friendly, always witty edge. Dave's effusiveness is a good contrast. Kurt Leavins' personality is kind of in between these two, so the personality contrast isn't as fun to listen to (tho the analysis is still super).
@nicolasderuiter16994 сағат бұрын
@@joetoh6675 Totally agree. David and Bruce complement each other brilliantly and Kurt is always a great addition. No other Oilers discussion comes close in my opinion. Best of all, the level of thought and language transcends hockey altogether and becomes an insightful exploration all on its own
@joetoh66754 сағат бұрын
@@nicolasderuiter1699 Nicely put. The guys on Got Yer Back give "closer to the ice", high-level hockey player POV comments, which I appreciate (despite all the chatter and ads). But the discussion on COH gets down to how the sport is both an escape from and a microcosm of life.

On the fighting note, I remember when if you wore a helmet in a fight, you were considered a wimp. (early 1970's). Then it got to if you wore a visor in a fight, your a wimp. Now if you punch someone, your a evil bully. Times have changed, and not for the better.
