Woohoo! Well what an event! For those asking where I finished overall, I've no idea, the results don't actually have me listed but I guess top 25. Check the links in the description for Charlie's ride data too, super proud. Thanks for watching and commenting :)

Did the island circuit 5 years ago alone one Sunday....315kms I clocked....Palma to Palma clockwise....well worth doing..as good as doing the big climbs in the Alps, Pyrenees etc.
@fishtail1232 жыл бұрын
You are so right about the last bit. The original route used to follow the perimeter of the island however logistically it doesn’t work anymore so they changed it and the last 3rd really does feel like it’s just been inserted purely to reach the distance. The 225 route is 100% the best of the three but at least you’ve done it now. 225 next year at full attack mode 🤩💣🚴♂️💨💀

I like to see people enjoy themselves. I like it when they have goals and meet them. I'm not a big fan of these events. I am more lonely. without people. Even so, I do not rule out participating in the future for the simple fact of preparing for a test and having a great objective. Greetings from Mallorca.

I also did it on the same day as you, and we met briefly on the plane on the way out and in the garage in the hotel, thanks for sharing your experience. For me and the lesser mortals the start of the ride (race) was very hectic, trying to avoid other riders and or road furniture, and how some (lets say heavier people) whizz past at the start and to the first climb only to literally come to a standstill, I think what amazed me the most was how some people were prepared to throw away their day by descending like lunatics, the first half of the ride was punctuated by either ambulances or paramedic motorcycles sirens, I saw a couple of nasty incidents, one guy came flying past me only to lose it on a downhill right hander, fortunately he was okay, weirdly my see.sence rear light decided to escape and was ran over by all things an ambulance, unlike you most of the time I was in a group, and the feed stations were rammed wasting valuable time, although when we were on the flat we were cruising at 35 mph (happy days), you didn't mention that horrible climb after a sharp right hander with 170 miles in the legs, Oo it made me wince, I loved the last bit and TT'd all the way to the finish, defiantly an experience to remember.

Cracking time, we did this event in 2018 it’s a tough day in the saddle and as it’s in April I spent the whole of our winter slamming the century rides in, great day out and a fantastic event. We have the Marmotte in June this year so the training just starting now, looking forward to it, driving over for 5 days and staying at the top of the Huez 😊

Great content Ed, it’s crazy to see how that first stop loses so much ground to pack. Fair play to ride most of the Andratx loop more or less solo. Charlotte got it bang on with describing the descents of 8000 different abilities. I saw so many people try and pass and not take into account outwards drifting! That start was crazy too! So hard not to get carried away and push too hard. Great view point and keep up the great work!

It’s great fun! You can decide if you want to do the full on the day anyway. Amazing closed roads but I do agree a little with what people say about the last 80k of the 312, it can be mentally vhallenging
@redpaul1970 Жыл бұрын
As Ed says near the beginning, expect the unexpected on the descents. I did the 167 and on the descent into Soller twice I had cars coming towards me on blind bends. The roads were still closed so they must have sneaked in via a side road.

Lovely to see you two had an amazing time. I am amazed at just how fast you went. Maybe next time you can break the 20mph barrier. It's definitely can be better riding with freinds especialy towards the end. I recently did my longest ride and spent 240km solo. Met with one of my friends for 20km which was really nice and bosted my energy levels fro the final 20km after that.

Superb video Ed. Would have been impressive enough if someone had helped with the filming but to have filmed it all yourself while doing the 312 just makes it even more impressive. Having done the 167 three times I'd say you gave a very realistic picture of how it feels especially when you end up on your own for many kms

Absolutely Mega video Ed. Enjoyed watching every moment I am seriously thinking of having a crack at it next year but seeing how you we are broken at the end makes me wonder if I could do it. @@edlaverack oh 5hit......what am I doing here watching videos....I should be riding my bike. I found 312 easy enough as there was no steep long hills. So it was just a question of pacing myself. Now doing 20 to 25 hours per week on the bike now. Climbing 8000 to 10,000 metres per week. 280w FTP weighing 70kg...but should be down to 65 come August. Biggest climbing day so far 5,500 metres. Do you think I have a chance or should I defer to next year?
