Broberg had a good playoff but was nothing much in the regular season. 4 million + is a lot for a semi-proven player who doesn't;t even want to be on the team. Barrie and Schultz are attacking defensemen and that's not what the Oilers need. I'd say let Broberg go, live with the existing D group until the trade deadline, and look to make a deal then. They'll have to clear some cap space but by then there will be more clarity on who's producing, and there might even be an LTIR situation.

The thing is....a well known insider and pundit revealed Holland was given specific instructions to sign Broberg n Holloway last year while they were both in AHL....He didnt.. .Also, it was reported Broberg was seeking 1.8 mill and Holloway 1.2 mill....The GM tried low balling them and it backfired...Who's to blame here!?..🤬

Oilers need to keep Kulak. IMO he is a solid D-man who gives 100% every shift. He even chips in on offence. Keep Kukak & Holloway. Let Broberg go. Give Nurse the option to move to the wing. I seriously think he could make the transition. Then his contract won’t seem so bad

These moves are separate from HOLLOWAY AND BROBERG. They just traded CODY CECI . Oilers trade Cody Ceci and a 3rd rd pick in 2025 to San Jose. Return is 24-year-old, right shot Dman Ty Emberson (3rd rd pick in '18). Room now to retain Broberg. Suspect Holloway a Blue, with Podkolzin addition. Although I doubt they would let HOLLOWAY GO. He contributed a lot to the Stanley Cup run …but if he goes to the blues. He’ll be great for them. It’s a loss for us-you can thank the former GM Ken holland

Broberg was an unproven player who came in and did well at the end of the play off run. He would be third line pairing. He wants to go. Adios. Holloway showed grit but again a third or four line fit. Keep him? Maybe. The key here is to sign Draisaitl. Then McDavid next year. All the other pieces can be replaced. The Oilers are a better team then last year even without Broberg or Holloway. If you can pick up Shultz from Seattle for cheap he will be a lot more reliable than Broberg at 20% of the cost.
