Purchased the Honda Pilot back in November 2023, mainly because of reliability and v6 engine. VERY LUCKY to have found a LX AWD trim, which is no longer offered, at MSRP. Doesn't have a lot of options, but we can live without it because all we wanted was a reliable car that can get us from point A to B.

According to consumer reviews and automotive expert opinions, the 2024 Ford Explorer faces issues like significant wind noise, particularly from the third row, potential rattling sounds from the interior, inconsistent touch screen functionality, concerns about the quality of the ride, and a clunky transmission, with some owners reporting issues with seat motor malfunctions and popping sounds from the front end when hitting bumps. Key points about the 2024 Ford Explorer problems: Wind noise: Many owners report excessive wind noise coming from the third row windows, especially at highway speeds. Interior rattles: Some users have experienced rattling sounds from various parts of the interior, with difficulty pinpointing the source. Transmission concerns: Reviews mention a clunky transmission feel, with complaints about shifting quality. Seat issues: Some owners have reported problems with seat motors malfunctioning, making adjustments difficult. Ride quality: While comfortable in some aspects, the Explorer can feel stiff on rough roads and may not mask road imperfections well. Infotainment system glitches: Some users report issues with the touch screen responsiveness and synchronization with other vehicle functions

I had a 2019 Kia Sorento EX V6 that I bought based on all the great reviews at the time. 5 years later I sold the car due to reliability issues (water pump failure, spark plugs, replacing front axles, periodic oil leaks - issues that started after warranty expired) and the leather interior / paint exterior looked dated and worn out, much more than our 2014 Honda Accord we had at the time. Sadly, the Kia is worth very little and depreciated a ton. Sure Kia’s look nice when new and do give a few more options standard like rear heated seats, but it doesn’t beat Honda reliability, durability, and resale value. I also think the Honda looks nicer too, though that’s subjective. 9 inch screen is plenty big enough for me. Seems likes it’s an issue mostly for reviewers that are used to seeing massive screens in the cars they test. Starting at computer screens all day, I actually like the smaller display that’s less in your face. Also, agree that Kia had a better adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, but we chose a 2023 Honda Pilot for the ride/quality and are very happy with it.

As a 2024 Honda Trailsport owner, I can wholeheartedly agree that the transmission issues/jerkiness really spoils the Honda experience. I've had several dealers look at it several times, and each time they say 'that's just how it is' and nothing is wrong. It's honestly a big issue, and I expect it will turn a lot of people off from the product. I wish I'd test driven MY car before I bought it, as I would have felt it beforehand. My mistake. Either way, I'd caution any potential buyers to TEST DRIVE THE SAME VEHICLE YOU INTEND TO BUY. Not all of the Pilot's have jerkiness in the trans, and some are better than others.

I’ve owned a 2025 Pilot Elite for a couple of months and have had zero problems with transmission jerkiness over 5800 miles. I also watched the savagegeese reviews and didn’t understand what they meant. My transmission is smooth as silk and always shifts appropriately. I did notice some weirdness on a test drive of another Pilot a couple of months back, so it must depend on the individual car - which is not a great endorsement of quality control(!)
@dirtandhappiness20238 сағат бұрын
@@nigelgregson7084 Yeah, this is the issue. The other 2 Pilot's I test drove didn't have this issue (or at least, not that i remember). The one I bought DID, and honestly I should have gone right back to the dealer and complained, but I decided to see if it would work itself out. Now, after nearly 20k miles, I finally feel like it's smooth most of the time. I'm 90% sure it's an issue with the clutches being out-of-spec in the trans. If they were slightly too thick, I think it would cause this issue, which explains why it gets better with time.

The primary issue reported with the 2024 Kia Telluride is a significant recall related to a potential fire risk due to a faulty front power seat motor that can overheat if the seat slide knob gets stuck, prompting Kia to advise owners to "park outside" until the issue is fixed; this recall affects a large number of Telluride models from 2020-2024. Key points about the Telluride recall: Fire risk: The main concern is that the front power seat motor can overheat due to a stuck slide knob, potentially causing a fire while the vehicle is parked or driving. Affected models: The recall applies to most Telluride vehicles from the 2020-2024 model years.

I think what everyone fails to notice is that most people don't care about the tech AT ALL. I don't care if the screen is 8 inches instead of 12. I don't care if the lane keep or ACC isn't great. I want physical buttons, a comfortable cabin that's quiet and durable. I want decent fuel economy but more importantly I want it to be reliable and simple so when things break it's not a million dollars and six months of time to repair it. Honda continues to win for me. Ford loses a lot with their lack of real knobs and buttons but makes up for a lot with their driving dynamics. Kia comes as usual in third because it prioritizes things I care little about.

They just took FOREVER to release it to America. Extremely annoying but I also prefer the stability and cooler charging of wired android auto/carplay. But it still lacks reliability and efficiency. My pick is the Toyota Grand Highlander. Despite the recalls on its new engine. I know Toyota fixes these things for the consumer peace of mind. But with its history of reliability and efficiency, Toyota is the best pick.

Yeah, Toyota never has a problem. Outside maybe their Tundra and a few other problems. All car dealerships have service and parts departments where they make most of their money for a reason and it is not just for oil changes.

I got 2025 Honda pillot black edition top tier. Just drove 1500 miles. Now has electric issue. VIN code starts with 5. DO NOT RECOMMEND 👎👎👎👎👎 Within those 3 options. I prefer CX90. As right now, I won't recommend any car made in America or made in Mexico. Made in Japan no good as before but still more reliable than other. Which those most options we can can get for daily drive. If Chinese car can import to u.s I really want try.😢

I actually agree with this test completely The key day-to-day living is the better one I've had the opportunity to test all three and love the key away more and it seems like other people do as well It's crazy that some people are still paying over sticking for this car The dealership cannot keep enough of this model in stock and plus even on the streets I see far more kias than the Honda pilot or the explorer combined even my neighbors trade it in there Ford explorer for the Kia and couldn't be happier

Ford does the best in a crash, but safety did not seem to be a concern? Honda and KIA had the worst rating, seems more important than cup holders? Telluride has the worst seats and is dominated by plastic.

The only one there that is worth anything is the Honda. It will last a lot longer and costs lower than the other two

Why bring the st and Not the active or st line they are more in price and still better performance and gas mileage.

There’s a reason why Kia needs that 100,000 mile power train warranty N that ford in 4 years will be worth half of what the Pilot is

Complete BS, when he talked so dismissively of the Explora's middle seats, he sat there with more than an inch of space between legs and back of seat but it was noticeable he did not sit in the Honda's second row while bashing the explorer... Fair?

I think it's important to point out that these reviews are just the concluding thoughts by many different Edmunds staff who have spent time with all the vehicles and provided their input to Brian for presentation.

@@ALMX5DP My point was about optics why is this so difficult to understand? There he is in the video literally sitting in the Exploerer's seat while demonstrating the space between knees and the seat back while in the other take standing outside of the Pilot saying it was more roomier. Why wasn't a like for like comparison? We all would have seen the difference and not having to comment i]on perceived misprepresentations.

@@JibWangson Are you serious? Mate he did not give a side view like @3:30 are you that vacuous or simply dishonest? He called the ST's seatbacks flat but look at te Honda's

Meh, 3 row mid sizers are silly. Just get a Tahoe. Or a mini van.

When purchasing a vehicle, reliability is at the top of my list. Honda wins I know it will outlast the Kia and Ford.

Both Honda and Ford have the newest gen models, but 4 year old Kida still wins. Telluride is a very, very nice suv.
