One of the hundred recordings made by Leon Scott. The hundreds and hundreds of Leon Scott's recording is in restoration, though.

This is not him singing jingle bells. Especially since he was French and did not speak or know he French language. This was him doing a vocal scale.

BRILLIANT! One minor technical detail, though. You have him singing the modern version. The original arrangement of Jingle Bells as published and sung between 1857-roughly 1880, had more of a descending chord on the "jingle all the way" line. There are historically authentic "period" performances out there you can reference. But a HUGE bravo for just doing this in the first place. I am definitely adding this to my Christmas oddball playlist.

it's not a pitch edit. He made many recordings and this is one of them (he wasn't singing Jingle Bells tho. He was doing a vocal scale test)

The original 1877 Edison recording of 'Mary Had a Little Lamb' was not saved. The version that exists today was a re-recording made on the phonograph's 50th anniversary in 1927.

Well, this sounds about as good as Au Claire de la Lune, and much more festive. From the beginning I was sure this whole Leon Scott thing was a hoax, as I'd heard a story years earlier claiming someone had found an ACTUAL recording of Chopin playing the Minute Waltz! This was supposedly retrieved from a glass globe with soot on it, with tracings made by a stylus, a technology developed in the 1840s, 20 years before Leon Scott de Martinville. I remember hearing the recording on the radio and thinking - could it be? Turns out the whole thing was a hoax (the CD was included in the April 1 issue of a classical music magazine). Nevertheless, the glass globe technology _did_ exist at some time. No word as to whether anyone has actually found any of this and can get music out of it. But calling this "music" is really a stretch.
