Thank you Ed. I knew about the Condenser Fan only working (in my case not working) when the AC is turned on. However, I forgot because it's been a year or two since I worked on it. Thank you for repeating it. It's easy to miss diagnose and spend or loose time troubleshooting or having to take it to a mechanic and they replace everything. Thanks again.

This helped a lot, man! I thought my engine was overheating because the fans weren't turning on, but they did turn on if I turned on AC and when the engine heated up. that's when I found out I just needed to do a cooling system bleed. Thanks man!

@@Bresoto HE GOT IT WRONG. Passenger side fan is a cooling fan, when your engine reaches a certain temp it kicks on. If the driver side fan isn't coming on check fuses, then relays, then try to jump it by unplugging the fan wire harness and jumping it with a multi meter or mini battery jumper or just wires hooked up to neg and pos post of running battery(make sure your are protected). Neg wire on the left of the plug and pos on the right of the plug. If all this fails then the motor for the fan is dead and you need a new one. Don't believe me? drive around on a hot day with the ac blasting. When your temp gauge is just under the halfway mark, pull over, keep everything on and running, put on parking brake and pop the hood. The driver side fan is dead. Replace. Research for part number, buy it yourself and replace it. save the cash.

That particular fan that you are talking about for the radiator seems to come on when my car is turned off. So, I don't know what the problems is.

normal on some models, even when car is turned off the computer is still working...if the computer detects engine temp higher than 195 even when turned off it will kick on the fans. this should only last a few minutes though....if the fans kick on after car has sat for a few hours then there is a short somewhere or an issue in the computer.

My 03 accord 2.4L my cooling fan is not turning on but it is not overheating. I just changed the coolant, and ran it for like 20 minutes and the cooling fan never turned on. I connected the fan straight to the battery and it does turn on, but when I turn on the a/c only the a/c fan turns on.

Thanks for that! 01:10 .... nicccce! I was wondering whyyyy my fans werent coming on.... when I WASENT running the A.C.... I mean it isnt over heating or anything... but the radiator line on top was buldging and it just seemd a little extra hot in the engine bay... So I purged the radiator.. jacked it up a little in front... ran it for about 45 min to get it warmed up.... fans never came on.. Went and beat the block...! STILL no fans! But they both work when I turn the A.C. on...? What sensor/valve/solenoid.... can I change to refresh where the fans will come on when I dont have the A.C. on, and keep the engine bay cool?! I jacked it up and ran it for like 1 hour and the cooling fan never came on... but one day it was 95 out and it did finally come on! Do they come on when you turn the a.c. on??

Stickboy Fpv Yeah it does turn on with the a/c . I live in Arizona so the heat is definitely a factor here. Weird how that needle doesn’t even come close to half. Even sitting in traffic. I just disconnected the wire going to the coolant switch and put a paper clip and now it will be on all of the time when the car is running.

Id put it back and let it be if I were you..!. did it used to work daily and doesnt anymore all of a sudden? Cus my radiator hose was bulging and everything and the engine FELT extremely hot when Id pop the hood... bulging hose and all.. freaked me out... but the fan eventually came on one day. After just crusing... then parked idling it FINALLY turned on! A.C. was off, "didnt work"..... a whole other story about compressor clutch pulleys😂 and 2 - 3 lbs can make awwllll the difference 😑.. But yeah trust your temp gauge and let it do its thing!

Stickboy Fpv My lower radiator hose felt warm when holding it tight but certainly not hot like the top one. I left it running for a while. The weird thing is they it never it even comes close to overheating even with the Arizona crazy heat. I ordered the coolant temp switch because they want like $36 plus tax locally, and I found the Honda genuine part on eBay for $8. So at least not the fan just works when the car is on as that doesn’t hurt anything.

Strange, on my '92 Accord, radiator fan is on passenger side, and condenser fan on driver's side. All the pics & manual I could google also say the same. But here it is the opposite!

I was interested is finding out where fan relays are located so I could jump the relays and see if the fans come on then I would know If it’s a control or bad fan with test light guess I will just jump 12 v to the fan directly

If your fan isn’t coming on open the fuse box its the one you gotta unscrew with like 8 fuses on it. I changed mine like 3 times. I think bad fans blow it

I went to change the radiator fan motor because it would never kick on at any temp. I tested the connector that provides the power and it was sending power. When I got the new motor, I plugged it in and it worked. So I started removing the shroud and the screws were stripping with hardly any pressure. The shroud ended up getting damaged.I lost it and just went and bought a new fan assy. Shroud with condensor and radiator fan. Installed it and plugged them in. NOW nothing works at all lol. If AutoZone sold me a dead or non-working assy out of the box, I'm burning that fucker down. Watch the news.

Fans not working when AC is on. Relay is good, blew the heater hose. Fans work on DC battery, continuity good, voltage 12 volts, etc. Cooling fan temp sensor? No AC fan when AC on. Wire short? Grounding short? Oh my! My 2001 Honda Accord car ain't worth $1,000! WTF do I do? Way beyond my skill set. Hoping its the fans.

So what was the problem? Because I have the same problem on a 2010 Chevy Malibu 2.4. Only one fan works when I turn On the A/C. Just like you said, on the expressway is Ok, but in the city (stop and go) will see gauge go up to half way. Instead of the 1/4. I checked the fuses and relays and look good. I already bought the fan but haven't installed it. Could it be something else? Any suggestions?

Check the engine fan relay or the fan motor of the engine... There's 2 fans 1 for the ac system and the other is for the engine they both work separately
