It's a real shame how it ended up for him, he should never have felt like going into care was the best option, i also almost teared up by the end of that. I hope he manages to pull himself back together and hopefully be happy.

I have no sympathy for Vinnie, 40% of children experience their parents going through divorce at some point during their time at school, they don't all end up becoming drug dealers. He was 15 and already intelligent, he has no excuse for the way he chose to act, especially attacking people and trying to distance himself from every possible support network. We infantilise 15 year olds these days which leads us to believe they don't have maturity, they do, 15 year olds died in WW1 when they joined the Army early, 15 year olds would have had jobs already back in the Victorian times, fair enough those aren't good things, but they prove there is a level of maturity that should be attainable, at least with not having grown up through working from the age of 5 like a chimney sweep he should still have the maturity of a 11 or 12 year old who had grown up in those times. Actions have consequences. Fuck around and find out, hope he enjoys his pocket money in prison.

I am so angry at this stranger's mother. Vinny wasn't the only problem. It's such a shame he wasn't given the right support to do something good with his life. I feel like he was a couple good teachers/therapists and an ADHD diagnosis away - - TW gun violence - - I also showed a year 7 round the school in his first days who in the end was just not taken care of the way he clearly needed to be. He got into things he shouldn't have and was shot in the head a few years later. It's really hard to imagine a child having a positive experience of secondary school/teenage years nowadays. That boy was clearly very charismatic and would have had a bright future ahead of him, and so could Vinny with the right rehabilitation. It's such a shame that 'right support' often isnt there
@esmeecampbell7396
@esmeecampbell7396 7 ай бұрын
An ADHD "diagnosis" doesn't fix anyone nor does the cocktail of drugs they put you on to become dependent on to function. It hasn't even been empirically proven to exist under FMRI scans, the whole thing was a big con by pharmaceutical companies. Yep! I was so mad that nobody seemed to really see his internal struggle - he needed to see a psychiatrist, a therapist, and family counselling to sort his mother out too would've been helpful. There just wasn't enough understanding for him and it broke my heart 😞. I'm wanting to go back to study counselling, specifically to help neurodivergent (adhd primarily) people, and I love kids and think they're honestly often more reasonable than a lot of adults and can be really funny and reflective - so I might end up working with kids like Vinni... and I really hope I can help them if I do 😢. I'm adhd myself and my brother and his mates are too, and too many people can't see past the hyperactivity and sometimes disruptive behaviour because they don't give them a chance and don't _listen._ I'm 29 now, and other adults often wonder why kids like that actually listen to me and respond well to me and I'm like... Well if you treat them like full people and talk to them respectfully, while setting boundaries and sticking to them... shock! They actually feel heard and valued and feel more safe and secure because you're consistent, which takes some mental pressure off and as a result they act up/lash out less and listen to you more 🙃. I think having a similar brain and thought process helps a lot with that since I know what it feels like when you're struggling but being told off all the time and having things blamed on just you when there are other people involved too 😕. I'm really passionate about helping and hearing kids that are seen as simply naughty or disruptive because they deserve better. I hope I can find a path to being able to do that 😅

It just breaks my heart ya know? all the times he did act out here for attention, he could of been saved and helped, went into a good college doing something he enjoys, its just sad to see that this is what happened when the teachers stopped at "hey you can't do that" and didn't do anything more

I feel bad for Vinnie. At several times during my teenage years, I have been on a path that could have led me to where he ended up, with my parents divorcing, me changing schools multiple times and even spending time in mental hospital for a few months, 12-year-old me could have gone off the deep end very easily. Sad to see Vinnie didn't make it, but I still hope he will turn his life around during his prison stint and make something out of his potential once he is out.

High school is the only place I've ever been that really cares about how you present yourself, no hats, no coats indoors, blazers on at all times (even in mid summer weather), not allowed to go to the toilet during lesson (even though lessons are 5 mins apart and they expect you to be to your next lesson within those 5 mins so if you did go to the toilet the teacher would moan at you for not being on time), etc. No where else has anyone cared so much whether I have a hoodie on so much. One of the many head teachers that my high school ended up going through said that wearing a hoodie under your blazer or on your uniform was the sign of the devil (my high school was not a Christian or religious school either), which isn't the most outlandish things he said or did while he had control over the school.

It doesn't make the teachers jobs any easier but Vinny is clearly going through it. Schools, cities and countries need to do more to provide support for young people going through tough emotional events. Teachers and headmasters are not equipped to help, and shows like this sometimes make me sad because the solution of identify and making support available and non-confrontational is so clear.

i was like vinny when i was 13-15. my parents split up when i was a kid but around my 10th birthday i lost contact with my dad and during my early teens it started to affect me. i had severe mental health issues and was in an abusive relationship on top of that so is started acting out. i would throw chairs and flip tables, ditch classes and there was a couple of months where i only went to school 3 days a week. i went to a shit school so that didn't help and my mum didn't know how to handle me either. i eventually hit rock bottom but because of that i was able to get the help i needed, and i'm sure that if i hadn't, i would've ended up like vinny

This honestly reminds me so much of my old school. It was so rough but there were so many people that could have done so well but they just didn't get the support they need. In fact about 80% of the girls were sent to CHAMS while all the boys tried to rip each others heads off. Honestly, so many red flags and they still are an outstanding just because they get the good grades. (No thanks to the teachers, it's a middle class areas so people could get support at home like tutors and stuff). They also expelled a bunch of dumb people just before exams instead of helping them.
